Curator: Lady Mae Eloeth

Description |
Established in the 93rd year of the Age of Steel, the Elysian Halls is Kalzasi's largest Historical Museum & Gallery and home to the Antiquities Society. Originally build simply as a historical museum, it had been a quiet, overlooked, dusty building for many years until Lady Mae Eloeth became curator in the year 115. With in her first year, Mae ordered the hall to be reconstructed nearly entirely. Gone were the pristine white walls and simple displays that reminded one of a temple, and on came a lavish dining hall, an outdoor garden, and an Art hall that she named 'The Hall of Creation'. While it had taken nearly a full year to complete it's construction, once finished the museum rose in popularity so quickly that people from all over the country flocked to see what it had to offer.

While most exhibits in the Halls are permanent, a few in each change with the seasons. The seasonal exhibits in the Hall of Remembrance are located in the back left of the building, while the seasonal interactive display is located in the front left. The Hall of Creation is an ever changing hall, though, and hosts a new artist once a season. Curator Mae Eloeth has also produced a Local Artists exhibit in the back right of the building to showcase the exceptional talent of one local artist per season. It is well known that one who has their work displayed in the Hall of Creation will be able to sell nearly even just one of their artworks to collectors for thousands of gold. Some have even made out with enough money to never have to work one more day in their life. But regardless of if one is an artist or not, most view the museum nearly as important as the palace itself, and not a day goes by without it's halls being flooded with interested, awestruck eyes.

Memories In Blood
Interactive, Seasonal
An interactive exhibit honoring brave soldiers from the Sundering. Located in the front left of the hall, just outside the souvenir shop, hundreds of weapons hang from the ceiling by chains. Each one collected from the families of the fallen. From the tip of each sword, polearm, axe, staff, or dagger is a red thread symbolizing their death in blood that hangs down and holds the name of the warrior the weapon belonged to on parchment. Each parchment lands at a different height, some a mere three feet from the ground while some are only tall enough for Avialae and Orkhan to reach. But upon touching one of the blood strings as one moves through the forest of them, memories of that soldiers life and sacrifice will pass through the person. Harsh reality, cold bloodshed, the last dying words of an enemy as the sword cuts through their neck. While gruesome, the exhibit serves a purpose of honoring their lives and sacrifice that helped shape the land in to what it is today. A warning sign is posted at every edge of this display, and visitors are suggested to pass through the center of the exhibit where an unobstructed pathway is lined in red carpet, allowing them to move through the threads without touching them, if they only wish to look.

Antiquities Library
Permanent
While much smaller than the national library, this room of texts is dedicated specifically to books that the Antiquities Society has created or need reference to. It also holds many old, original, and no longer produced texts that the university requires students to read. Some such books include original copies of ancient mage spell books written in their original languages, or even by the actual author of the spells themselves. Unmodified for future law or spelling, each of these books is a one of a kind find and was painstakingly restored by The Elysian Hall's Restoration team. While books may not be taken out or rented due to their value and rarity, students often come by to take notes and even copy direct pages from the books for study.

Dragons of the Past
Permanent
Four minor dragon skeletons have been reconstructed and placed to the room right of the Library. Each one from a different time in history, these exhibits showcase how time has evolved these magnificent creatures. When the clock strikes noon every day, these statues come to life and an illusion is placed on them, showing their muscles and skin grow back over the course of an hour. During this time, one of the staff of the museum describes in detail why each of the changes in their body might have taken place. Why they no longer have two tongues, or why their toes are separated into less bones now than in the past. At the end of the hour, the magic fades and the muscles and skin fade.

Excavations from the Planes
Permanent
True to the title of this exhibit, in the room to the right of the Dragons of the Past lies countless artifacts found in the various magical planes. From different types of metal blocks to jugs of sloshing, viscous liquid magma, this room is a favorite of most travelers and mages. Additionally, should anyone travel to the Planes and bring back a new discovery, the curator Lady Mae Eloeth has promised to pay handsomely. There are thick, reinforced glass barriers lining the room so guests are not able to touch the displays due to the dangers of the elements they contain.

Histories first Siege Weapons
Seasonal
Located in the back left of the museum, this exhibit is a grand display of the first siege weapons ever created. Each one details how it's creation aided in the wars fought, as well as how the current weapons were inspired by the past.

Shipwrecks of Sundering
Seasonal
From the age of Sundering came many losses, but one of the most notable had been an entire ship carrying noble families. Thought to have been lost forever, it was only in the past two years that it's remnants were found and brought to the surface. Now, reconstructed, guests can walk inside the ship that had been nearly destroyed and get a glimpse into the final moments and lifestyles of those aboard. Recovered from the ship was not only the ship itself, but countless invaluable artifacts, furniture, clothing, and riches that had been hoarded by the wealthy. The restoration team of the museum have been praised endlessly for their ability to create such a massive exhibit out of the shambles of nearly forgotten history.

Frost's Seasonal Artist: Yi Min and his Illusory Paintings
Heralding from all the way in Antiris, Yi Min's work is a collection of enchanted paintings. Using various paints crafted from hand harvested pigments, laced with magic, Yi's collection inspires children and adult alike to be awed by creatures and beasts that might otherwise terrify. Giant, goliath sized monsters, evil spirits, and grotesque creatures fade through the surface of the paintings and present flowers, displays of magic, and even conversation to those around. So detailed is every piece of art that some wonder if the paintings were not constructs themselves.

Pairing with his paintings in the sound exhibit is light pianoforte music that soothes the soul and lingers in the air around each of his works of art. The music, coupled with the art, evokes questions of morality within appearances, and if humanity as a whole has perhaps seen the creatures of the night in too dark a light. Are all monsters truly evil?

Some of his paintings
  • A Giant Picking Flowers. Anyone who talks to the painting will be offered a flower whos petals fly off it's stem, swirl around the viewer, and return to the painting
  • A Manticore Cuddling a Sheep. Every few minutes he turns to gently lick & groom the sheep. Anyone standing in front of the painting will be able to hear soft purring from the manticore
  • Two wendigos playing with a jump rope. The wendigos with wave at anyone passing by
  • A pack of Dire Wolves letting children ride them like horses. Every hour, on the hour, the children change from one race to another. If a child is viewing the painting, a mirror image of that child becomes one of those children riding a wolf until the person walks away from the painting.

Frost's Local Artist: Halgen Bruut
An expert in enchanted, avante garde furniture, this peculiar collection of seemingly ordinary items are made completely out of carefully controlled elements. A pitcher made of ice that never melts, but always keeps ones drink cold. A table made of fire, which can be touched without burn, and a series of rugs, drapes, and pillows that leave the scent of the ocean, the forests, and ozone in the air around them. Each piece is not just functional, but also morphs to the users size and shape. An orkhan sitting in a chair made of ever-flowing water will find himself contoured seemingly perfectly, and when sat upon by a small human child will shift into a comfortable floor cushion.

Halgen can be found sitting at a seemingly normal desk on Thioras's, ready to speak to anyone who wishes to purchase a piece of furniture or commission one.

World Garden

Considered one of Kalzasi's most romantic date locations, just outside the dining hall a door leads to the World Garden in the back of the museum. Previously a simple grass yard, Mae Eloeth has spent the last four years importing flowers and other plants from around the world so the citizens of Kalzasi may get a glimpse of other regions. It's expansive pathways lead one on a colorful journey through every corner of the world, from the coastal trees of Sol Valen to rare flowers of the Astralar Mountain. Benches and tables are carefully placed throughout the pathways allowing guests to sit and observe the birds and bugs that are attracted to it's foliage, or take a break and eat their meals from the dining hall.

Most wedding receptions take place in the gardens just under the Grand Gazebo.
