Description: The Hobgoat is a large, quadrupedal mammal. It stands roughly six feet tall at the shoulder, has a large bulbous head with two horns jutting out along its jaw. It also has a long, clubbed tail. It's skin is always the same as the native stone of the mountain it lives on, and grows lighter in color when snow and ice are present. It has incredibly strong claws and teeth that can pierce metal and stone.
Biome Role: Omnivorous herd animal. These creatures largely consume vegetation at the lowest reaches of their mountains during winter months, and as warmer months come, they venture back up the mountain, where they are largely carnivorous, preying on goats and the like.
Diet: Omnivorous, whatever is available, is an opportunist. Can consume most types of flesh and plant matter.
Aging & Reproduction: The Hobgoat is incredibly long lived, with herd elders reaching into their 80s. They are considered juveniles from 0-20 years roughly, and adults after that. They reproduce through mammalian sexual reproduction. The female is pregnant for a 2 years before giving live birth. They almost never give birth to more than one at a time. Being typical pack animals, there is usually a bull that rules a herd, with lesser males challenging for control, or leaving to find a herd of their own.
Size: Adult males and females are the same size, standing about 6ft tall, 12 ft long (nose to tail), and about 4 feet wide at the shoulders.
Abilities and Features: Their most prominent feature is that they are incredible agile climbers of the stony mountain faces. Using their extremely powerful claws, they can pierce into the stone and climb up vertical cliff sides both easily and rapidly. A lesser known feature is that they are undetectable by both scent and thermal detection methods.
Cultural Significance (If applicable): They are a mount used by the Hobgoblins of the Bekari Region of the Galerian Imperium. They are primarily used as a shock trooper type mount, for ambushes and flanking attacks upon invaders in mountainous territory. The domestication and training of these beasts is difficult and is typically only done within the military villages of Bekar Mountain.
