Description of Business:
The Marianne is a fishing schooner crewed by the twenty of the finest sailors this side of one particular fishing vessel. She’s forty-three meters long, eight meters wide, and her masts raise thirty-eight meters into the air. Her sails and hull are designed for speed; and under the command of an accomplished Wind Caller such as Walters, there’s not a ship that can outrun her. Aboard her deck are eight dories, small row boats for the crew to spread out while she’s anchored or sail behind on line to catch fish.

Her sails are stark white and her body painted a matte black, so she’ll stand out in the waves day or night. Attached to her bowsprit rests no figure, as the custom is for many ships in the harbor of Kalzasi. The last captain of the ship, Old Craveus, wanted the area clear so he could be closer to the waves. Since his passing, Captain Walters has kept the spot clear as well; though he does not hold the same Arche Element of Water that Craveus did.

Hello!

This business will fall under the guidelines as a Special Permission Approval. Under normal circumstances, Walter would not be able to afford or lead the number of crew members that are currently aboard the Marianne, and the crew's combined skill level is too low to be viable. That said I approve this business for play under the following expectations and guidelines:

1. One of the Apprentice level crewmen that are currently set at a base wage of 1.5 needs to be upgraded to the Journeyman level, and be given a base wage of 12 GP/day (4 x 1.5 (apprentice) x 2 (Journeyman)). This will help to partially balance out the skill levels in the crew, and give someone the PC can turn to for guidance and education to help advance their own skill level.

2. Walter himself must reach at least Expert in his primary skill by the end of Glade 122 AS. If you can surpass that I highly encourage you to do so.

3. The current NPC levels and subsequent base wages should be increased to Minimum Apprentice level, and each crewmember should earn the medium available income available to them by the end of Searing 122 AS (Work with the mods as it becomes viable to start raising skill levels and wages to get approval).

4. No other employees, PC or NPC, will be taken on until items 2 and 3 are carried out, and the appropriate staffing structure outlined in the business guide has been reached. This structure can be modified based on what the player needs to be successful.

Given the way Ransera is structured it is entirely possible to raise a skill level and gain secondary and tertiary skills, in the span of 1 - 2 seasons. If for any reason these goals have not been reached by this time next year the business will be reassessed and a new plan created.

Beyond that everything is good to go. Make the change per item 1, and I will give you the stamp of approval! Based on my calculations raising one of your apprentices to journeyman will still give you a net income of 843 gp / season. Not a huge amount, but grow your skill level and that of your crew members, and that number will increase rapidly.

I also approve this business for the full 5% creativity bonus for being the first ship-based business in Ransera.

Question your Reality,
Mirage
