Fireworks From Below?
Glade 5th, 121st AoS

The day had been spent exploring more of the city to learn of Kalzasian culture at it's finest, Connor having been insistent on trying everything food related just to learn what new meals he could, while Dominik seemed more invested in the actual culture that the society here possessed. "You know how Talon is actually a descent of House Novalys? Turns out there are eight Great Houses here in Kalzasi, and they each play a pivotal role in governing aspects of the city." He reasoned as he fixed the lines out from the collar of his brown shirt, while Connor passed him by with his arms up to cradle his head as he walked in a beige woolen jacket. Burton followed along at the rear keeping up with them, a hefty chuckle given when he heard the second-born's conversation.

"From what I hear they're into polygamy, and the king of this place has like three or four wives." He remarked as he tucked his hands into the pocket of his dark coat, Patrick merely smiling as he dipped his hands into his own pockets, after he'd straightened the flaps of his woolen brown jacket during their hike. The day had been well spent navigating the city and, sure enough, the band of brothers had learned quite a bit about the city in their own way. Yet there was always something new to investigate, venues that demanded their exploration, and on top of that, an underlying reminder just waiting for one of them to think about.

"Yeah, but who cares about that? I mean our king and queen could marry as many people as they wanted to, no?"

"Here it's different though, " Dominik elaborated with a look over to the youngest sibling, "Because of where the city was built, Kalzasi has relied on more practical means of survivability. Magic is something we see more commonly than usual here, and the societal antics are catered to a more unified state than other places."

"Unlike that other damn place we had to pass through, never thought I'd see so much technology in one day."

"Zaichaer is different," Patrick chipped in then as the lot continued walking down another lane, headed a direction toward the High Hopes to wrap up their evening with a hearty dinner. "They don't believe in the use of magic because they fear what they can't control. Kalzasi embraces it from what I've seen, which in my opinion is pretty fucking cool." He remarked as they passed a group of water dancers, the whole group of men slowing their stroll as they observed the ladies twirling about with smooth streams coiling around them.

"Yeah, well, in my opinion the icing on the cake is the venues here." The eldest brother weighed in as he twisted to face them, still walking backward as he crossed over a sewer grate. "Ain't nothin better than spending a few hours getting high at the cabaret, while some broad's choking on-" An obnoxiously loud whistle wirred from beneath Burton as he was cut off, the noise alerted the whole band as they all looked down in pure shock. Fireworks?! From within the channels below lights came surging out to assail the eldest brother, Dominik quick to run and tackle the man while the two younger ones pulled back in pure awe.

From one grate to another lights went sizzling into the sky before they exploded high above the streets of Kalzasi, the locals all around getting stirred and riled up as they all too seemed surprised. This wasn't a normal thing here?? As the initial panic settled and people scampered on the streets, their moment of terror remained short lived as they realized something. "Hang on," Connor called out above the excitement, "that's Mesmer magic! These fireworks are just illusions!" He quickly pointed out as the lights exploded into sparkles that rained down into the streets, the citizens all murmuring to one another as a few even applauded the display.

Burton gave Dominik a wary look before nudging him off, scratching the back of his head embarrassed while the second-born cleared his throat. "Imagine if they were real though." Patrick remarked with a look from Domink to Connor, the other two siblings eyeing one another before they started to laugh at the lingering awe in Burton's face. The eldest look to them and then Dom, who also started to join in the mirth, before he rolled his head a couple times and exhaled sharply to calm himself.

"Oh, shut it, it wasn't that funny." He groaned with his hands rested at his waist, still taken aback by the event as the last of the light show faded out.

☵ Hyo had been dragged out by Hansui, the young man believing Hyoga could use the fresh air. The young kathar was trying his best to enjoy the moment. It wasn't home like his village, but it was a close second. He was getting rather used to being here, finally settling into the city, and today was no different. He was walking the streets of the city had been just enjoying the atmosphere of the people enjoying themselves as well. He was wearing his usual attire, a blue leather jacket, a mesh crop top, and figure-hugging pants and boots.

It was hard, as he was trying to remain out of the public eye and their ire, and it killed it was killing him not to be able to punch some creeps face in for slighting him with their discriminatory looks, but he figured that isn't how a Kalzasi citizen would act. In any case, he stood there and could feel their dirty looks, which he shot his own glare back at them.

They would have to deal with his presence regardless of if they wanted to or not, but part of him felt as if he didn't belong there in the first place, he hadn't spoken to anyone since the beginning of his walk. His wings hugged his back tightly as he walked, doing his best to avoid the others around him.

While in his stride he found himself lost in thought wondering about many of the past occurrences in his life. He was concerned on why the people were afraid or suspicious of him and it was eating at him if he was being honest. He could remember doing anything to warrant it since his arrival, and he's been nothing but helpful since his arrival so it was odd to him.

For him, it was a mystery to why the people acted like they acted towards him, which was costing him his work, the means to eat. It was even forcing him to take up a job selling his body at a cabaret in town. He knew this whole experience had changed him, but the more he brushed off the feeling the better he felt, at least for the moment. If he simply just left it as is, he could focus on other important things. "Yeah, that's what I'll do, just brush it off and move forward." he assured himself.

He hadn't even noticed the stares he had gotten as he strolled the streets of the city anymore. Most of his walk was himself lost in thought so he wouldn't have had any notion of his own surroundings. His mental machinations dulling the senses his father spent time sharpening, he was off his edge and he knew it. He was so wrapped up in his mind that he didnt even notice the figures coming at him, which wouldn't be surprising given the fact he loomed over most men. The collision was undoubtedly unavoidable.

Upon realizing he had bumped into the poor guy he turned and bowed, his wings folded neatly behind him. "Oi, sorry about that. I was lost in my own head and wasn't paying attention. How about I buy you a drink to make up for it, I know a place that has decent booze."

While the display of magical fireworks was short lived the confusion it caused for the residents lingered, at least for a while, as local watch seemed to hurry about the streets in an effort to scour for a source. But would they actually go below the surface? Well now that was the question for Patrick, since the display did come from within the sewers below. And it looked to have been a whole city wide phenomenon throughout the plaza, which meant there had to have been mutiple people to coordinate that sort of stunt. "This town is nuts." The hazel-eyed brother remark as Connor looked about the skies as the last of the particles faded away.

"Now that is an excellent party trick!" The youngest complimented as he looked down at his hands, as the topaz glow of his Masquerade Rune suggested aether manifestation moments later. Slowly but surely sparks started to flicker as he concentrated, and Dominik could only chortle as Patrick grinned in response.

"Okay, show's over so let's get dinner." Burton remarked as he turned to start leading the band into another stroll, Patrick had a bit of a sigh as a reflex to the eldest's behavior. As they all started to resume their walk back toward the tavern, Connor followed along with his focus still spent on the illusions he was crafting. He had managed to replicate sparks as they began searing their way into the air above his hand, and managed to weave another layer of aether into what would've been the grand finale... only to hammer himself face-first into the chest of some hunky individual. Having dropped his hands upon the moment he realized impact was imminent, the youngest of the brothers found them pressed on ungodly rigid flesh that should've been a soft tummy.

"Whoa, okay," He exclaimed a little bewildered as he quickly drew back, "Did not see that Avea- Avaia- Avialae there!" He quickly regarded as the other brothers looked back to see the two after impact, Dominik and Patrick quick to burst into a short fit of laughter as Burton crossed his arms toward Connor.

"Atta' boy Connor, always knew you were into that sort of thing." The other two couldn't help but burst into laughter as they watched Connor almost redden, before he laughed back at Burton with the intent to point at him afterward.

"Leave my perversion's outta this, you old geezer!" Burton's reaction to the quip was to smile in turn, before he looked to listen to what the Avialae man had to say. He was an impressive build just as many of them were, incredibly toned with a rigid physique, the kind a warrior of diligent practice would have. He bowed respectfully to Connor as though he might've offended him, apologizing in the Common Tongue as he gave an offer that Patrick himself wasn't prone to refuse. A place that has decent booze? The High Hopes had been where they were headed, but if this big fucker knew where there was any more places to drink, then it was high time Patrick expanded on his palette of locations to frequent. "Oh that is, honestly, the most wonderful thing anybody has ever done. I appreshe-apprechi-, what I'm trying to say is that I'm humbled, I am, but I'mma have to respectfully,"

"He's in fuckin' love!" Burton exclaimed as the band of brothers laughed once more, this time Connor awkwardly grinning as he made an obscene gesture with his finger at the eldest brother.

"Okay, okay," Patrick finally chimed in as he tried to settle the giggles in his lungs, "sorry, Con, that's enough." As he cleared his throat his brothers did the same, stifling their chuckles as the Kathar was their main focus next. "We were lookin' to stop at the local pub nearby, unless you got other places to be?" He posed as a suggestion, in the event this stranger did have another place in mind.

☵ A look of pure confusion painted Hyoga's face as he listened to the group of men converse. It was a foreign tongue, one he hadn't heard before so he was curious as to what they were saying as the one who had collided with him was yelling back at them as they commented and laughed. It was amusing and curious and the Kathar could only wonder about the relation between them.

As they conversed between themselves in whatever that language was, Hyoga was looking them over one by one. He could tell they varied in age as it showed on their faces. The one that bumped into him was the youngest by far, his youthful facial features giving the kathar that impression. The others seemed to be older, whereas one of them seemed to be the eldest. He carried himself like he was their elder and it showed with how they interacted.

His attention fell back to the younger one who seemed to be blushing while trying to get his words out. Whatever or whoever had him flustered seemed to make the others tease in their native tongue, causing the smaller male to lash out back at them. Hyoga couldn't help but find that amusing, and figured it was because of his attire and physique that the smaller human was becoming red in the face.

After teasing him, another seemed to take the lead and accepted Hyoga's offer which made the Kathar excited. "Common SpeechIm happy to oblige honestly. This place has good booze, wonderful entertainment of the titillating kind, and quite the atmosphere if I do say so myself. It's not too far from here and I'm sure you guys will be well taken care of. The name is Hyoga by the way, but you can call me Hyo if you like." he explained, wrapping an arm around the one that bumped into him.

"I'll make sure you have an especially good time, least I can do for knocking you speechless with my muscles." he purred with a flexing of his chest and arm, joining in the teasing. ☵

Your Review

I want you to know that when I read the collision and the reaction, my first thought was of the tiktok audio from an anime where someone bumps into a dude and immediately screams I think it's very appropriate for this moment. A shame we don't get to see further simpery.
