Stained Glassworks
"Don’t tell me the moon is shining;
show me the glint of light on broken glass."
Kalzasi has always had a rich history of glassblowing. The local beaches on Lake Udori with their generous deposits of fine silica sand, along with plenty of forests for fuel made the city-state a prime location for more glassblowing studios than many other cities in Karnor. Not all of them have survived so long as this one, however, a family affair from way back.
The Tsekhov family are seasoned glass experts, who are ready to make whatever project stand out from the crowd. Behind the scenes, there are design studios, a full-scale production warehouse, and educational facilities, but most people only make it to the storefront where glassware sits in glass display cases, well lit and dusted within an inch of their lives. From day-to-day kitchen needs to stained glass windows to works of art, no job is too big or too small for them. They are even equipped to prepare lyrethillium for glassware intended for alchemical work.
The family and the business are in good standing with the Artisans Guild. At times, a Tsekhov has even led that august body. While they are largely self-sufficient, they will occasionally take talented apprentices from outside the family, and will even offer short-term lessons for the dabbler and the dilettante.
As old as the Glassworks is, parts of it have fallen into disrepair. The public-facing rooms are clean and in excellent repair, but there are parts of the workshop that are in need of upgrading. The outfit is just large enough that they can get by without refurbishing everything at once.
