The blacksmithing forge was hot, for there would be work to do with it later in the day. It also meant that the runeforge was more than warm enough to work in comfortably. Torin didn't mention to anyone the fact that, sometimes, when he would only be working in the runeforge, he still lit and stoked the smithy for its warmth in the coldest season.

He heard Kala arriving, having a brief conversation with Timon, then hurrying through the frozen yard into the little building that was his workspace.

"Good Morning, Kala." He smiled, a more mellowed thing than it once had been, but genuine.

He worked her through the whole process of preparing the aether kiln. Everything had been ready to go when they'd make vicirite at Starfall, but it was against Torin's nature to teach something of his own accord without taking the student from cold, inert equipment to fully ready to use. He knew the Master Runeforger of Starfall knew her business, and she hadn't been intending to teach Kala everything she needed to work the aether kiln so much as testing if Torin had been well trained himself.

Additionally, he walked her through the process of taking the assembled compass and preparing the aether forge to combine the Scrivening magic they had already covered each little piece in, with the more specifically intentioned magic of the shards. He wasn't sure how much she really wanted to know, but seeing how her work actually synced to form the final product seemed like it would feel nice.

Since he did not want any flaws, he did all the actual work himself, letting her observe while explaining in detail the what, and the why, of his actions.

The viscerite was carefully drawn and processed, then poured directly into the kiln. For a time Torin was concentrating on funneling and directing the raw aether to explain his every action, but he trusted that, if Kala had questions, she would let him know later.

When both shards had been rendered and added to the piece he took a break, letting her use her Semblance to observe everything going on in the forge.

The process took the whole morning, and several hours of the afternoon. But, by the time the pair left the forge to seek a meal, Torin was more than pleased with the work, he was beaming.

2nd Frost, 121

Kala's arrival was a relief from Torin sitting by the forge, watching, almost twitchy, trying to trust in his own work and not try to make adjustments which would, at this stage of the work, only cause inconsistencies in the aether lines.

His brows unfurrowed and the concentration frown disappeared as his Lady patron appeared.

"Come," He said, forgetting to greet her after almost a month of having her come by every few days to observe the work in progress, "It's almost there, you'll be able to see the lines making their final connection points."
