Destyn nodded profusely.

"Aye. They wished to return and we would wander between the places where the old rifts once were- gauging the strength of the energies there and trying to predict whether they might reemerge." It had been those travels that put them in the danger that ended the entire clan. "But our traditions were much, much older than I. I did not even understand them all, but we thought there would be much more time for me to learn..." He trailed off, smiling a bit at the gentle touch from the handsome man to his shoulder.

"I, too, am a peasant. You do not need to apologise for this." Destyn said, consolingly.

"Thank you for teaching to me your song." He said with an earnest smile. "It is very beautiful and the sentiments are, I think, important." Listening to Pahoran further elaborate upon the themes of the song and how they applied to the present day, the Fae frowned.

"That is very frightening..." He conceded, "But I would put my life on the line for these things. My life, right now, has little meaning. I do not intend to sound pitiable, but... With no clan to serve I have only my friends. I think I make them happy sometimes, but this is not, um... salient work. It is nice, but not important to the world. If you need the help of one such as me for your effort to save Him, I would gladly join."

The ice blue eyed knight listened as Destyn spoke about his family. About their wander, and it touched Pah. His family spent years wandering and while eventually they came to the city but even then they wandered around the lands surrounding the city. His family was also trying to preserve their heritage and the teachings of their ancestors. His eyes grew even more sympathetic as he spoke. Pah was quiet for a moment before he finally spoke. “You can still keep those traditions alive. At least the ones you are aware of.” He said acknowledging that Destyn might not know them all. “I am sorry to hear about that.” He hesitated and then asked. “Umm what are these rifts your tribe was looking for?”

Pah smiled back as the Fae youth said that he to was a peasant and not to worry about it. “None the less I should try to speak more clearly for others.”

The white winged man again fell silent and listened as Destyn spoke about the song, and about how frightening it was to face those behaviors, and the offer. Pah tilted his head and then said having though about it. “Actually we do need to bring peace all around us. So helping your friends and making them happy and other people happy is important to. In many ways it is the little things that build to the big things. Defeating evil and bringing justice does no good if people have lost hope or do see the benefit of kindness and friendship.” His eyes glimmered a bit with the emotion he felt behind those words. “Having help finding Talon will be needed. We will need many talents to bring to this project. I have a affinity for sword play myself and dabble a bit with magic myself.” Pah left the statement and question open. He believed the youth had stuff to offer, but he just didn’t know what it was. Pah as a Knight knew that it took all sorts of skills to make a mission work and that other skills where just as valuable as his own. Maybe even more so.

Destyn considered Pahoran's advice for a moment, and decided it was sage. He had continued to practise some of the old ways, just out of habit, but there were other things he'd probably let lapse. Living in the city, the priorities were just different, so he would need to figure out what made sense to translate to his current life from his old one.

"The old Rift Gates." He replied with no further explanation. He assumed such things were common knowledge and, more to the point, he was not keen on continuing to broach the difficult topic of his loss and all the many elements of his life that were now abjured from him.

"You speak, I think, very clearly." Destyn reassured, "At least to my ears." He inclined his head slightly.

"Well, if friendship is important, then maybe my life has meaning after all. I am very devoted to my friends. They are, you know, all I have?" He shrugged a sheepish shoulder and wrinkled his nose. "Not a whole clan, but a little family- like the ones humans have in the city." One of his best friends was a city-dwelling human with whom he currently cohabitated, so it sprung easily to mind.

"I have, um... dabbled, as you say?" He checked in to make sure he'd used that word correctly. He wasn't particularly familiar with the term and it sounded a bit silly, but in a manner he found pleasant. "Dabbled with magicks. But, uh... Since my loss, it comes not so easily to me. But, I am good at surviving in the woods and, um... being a creature of the forest I have certain talents for tracking and so forth."

Pahoran got the impression that Destyn really didn’t want to talk more about his family, which was fine as for some people talking helped and for others it didn’t. The winged knight heard him mention the old Rift Gates and made a mental note to look into that subject one his own time to understand more about the Rift gates. Pahoran had an interesting education when it came to history and such. There were stories he had been taught and heard, and was interested in it, but his time growing up had been spent teaching survival, weaponry, and codes of conduct. So it was that he tended to do his own research at his own time.

“It is important not to be alone, and friends are a good way. When we don’t care about others we grow cold and hard. I very much get the impression that you are someone who isn’t like that. You care about others, and it sounds like you have made some good friends while here.” He tilted his head and grinned. “I hope that maybe one day we can call each other friends.”

Pah nodded as he said he was good out in the forest. “Those a great skills to have. I know sometimes city dwellers don’t think so, but it takes a lot of knowledge and skill to be able to track. To know what is safe to eat out in the wilds. Even just what are the signs of safety or danger. Nature is filled with so many of those hints that it could be easy to miss.” Pah grin grew self mocking. “As my grandmother has reminded me many times.” He looked back. “Dabbling in magic is also good. Gives one an extra edge especially out in the wild.” Pah titled his head. “If you are still serious about offering help, once I have all things figured out I think we could certainly use someone who knows the wilds to help us.”

Destyn nodded vehemently.

"Yes, yes!" He exclaimed, "Being alone is the worst! I hate to be alone!" The young Fae's voice grew louder than was typically acceptable in polite company. He was, after all, a creature of the great, open world without- Unaccustomed to the confines of any city.

"I wish also to be friends with you." He agreed emphatically, "The more friends we have the less we have to be alone, because, you know, when there are lots of people it is less likely that all of them are busy at any one time. So when one gets busy, you can go to another, and another and never be lonely ever." He smiled at Pahoran's acknowledgement of his talents, and nodded.

"City dwellers are very strange to me, but I know that I am, also, odd to them. Things that are important to forest folk are not noteworthy here and things that are important to folk here seem insignificant to me. I had to be taught why people in houses like to have their own rooms. It seemed strange to me, because I do not like to be lonely and I did not understand why anyone would want to keep others out, but it was explained. I understand, now, in theory..." Though his expression indicated he clearly did not understand in practise.

"Of course I am serious! It would be, I think, good for me to do something truly meaningful with my life now that I am the last of my people. I must find new purpose and... That has not, so far, been easy..."

Pahoran appreciated the vehement in the Fae’s voice as he spoke about not being alone. He smiled at Destyn’s as he said he didn’t like being alone. The young knight felt pleased that the Fae was open to being friends. Pahoran had his family and some friends in the city but he didn’t really have a lot of friends outside of certain groups. Honestly he had accepted that until he found someone to share his life he would spend much of his time alone especially since he had decided to join the skyguard. “I would be willing to be your friend.” He commented. “I actually live with the Skyguard at the citadel and if I am not on shift then I am open to doing stuff. If I am not there then I am with my family either at there camp outside the city or in there other camp outside of the city.”

Pah listened as Destyn talked about needing your own room. His eyes twinkled with amusement. “Well I am with you. I find people needed their own rooms silly. I have never had my own room, nor has any of my family. Now my parents and grandparents had there own rooms, but they still shared it together.” He thought for a moment. “Though I will say that I do have my own spot where I can keep a few items that are mine only, but its not a whole room.”

“Good to hear it. I hope you do find your purpose in life.” He though for a moment and realized how long it had been. “I need to be going soon, but it has been very nice to meet you Destyn. Lets meet up again. I also will look you up when I have more of idea what will be done to look for Talon.” Pah said he expression friendly but serious.

Destyn's wings flitted slightly behind him, at the prospect of novel friendship. He bit his bottom lip, half muting the beaming smile that spread across his boyish, slightly sun-bronzed visage.

"I live with my other friends. Sometimes I stay at one of their homes, and sometimes at the other." This, he'd come to learn, was atypical of city dwellers. After a fashion it was unusual for Destyn, as well. In the wilds, he never would have limited himself to merely two dwelling places. Over his life, he'd laid his head in hundreds of places- Glades, caves and everything between.

"Oh, yes, yes..." Destyn conceded, "Possessions are another matter..." He paused, half reconsidering, "Although the Men of the city seem overly focused on such things. A few, sentimental items are, for me, sufficient. I do not prize things for their, um... Worth in gold." He was sure there was a cleaner way to have expressed that, but it escaped him for the moment.

"Oh, all right." The Fae looked a bit sad about Pahoran's impending departure, but he didn't want to make a thing of it, so he just sheepishly took a few backward steps- lowering his head so a few honey locks fell over his furrowed brow and puppy dog eyes.

"Well, it was nice to meet you, Pahoran. If you wish to seek me out, you will most likely find me at the forge of Torin Kilvin... If not there, perhaps inquire with the blond elf at Master Jacun's shoppe."
