Within the Foundations of a Soul
I am with you.
Those words reached deeper into the more quieter parts of Rickter, into the depths of his being as the reaches within his soul shuddered. Throughout the frozen wastes the frost lulled to a still, the clouds blanketing the night sky somehow condensing as a warmth grew beneath the ice. The residual scar deep below released a vibrant glow, as cracks tore their way to the surface to release a ray of silver light. Like a fire in the cold of the night that light served as a beacon of hope, showing brighter and brighter as underlying depths of ice glowed beneath the surface. A gentle warmth spread throughout those depths as more and more light funneled through those increasing cracks; until it burst like a geyser unto the heavens above.
The clouds dispersed rapidly from the skies with a swirl from the pillar of light that shone, the towering luminance resonating throughout the expanse of the shifting ice. Particles of snow and light danced across the stretch of the ocean, the waters stirred into motion once more as the night sky began to fill with brilliant stars. Then he felt it. The wolf felt the brilliance of the Northern Star, his star, shine down on him as that warmth filled the very space of his soul. Talon's words reached throughout Rickter's soul as the other Foundations cleared as well, the night sky filling each domain with a serene beauty as the bitter cold alleviated the atmosphere.
The fields were full of verdant greens with sporadic flowers, the forests no longer dormant as their new layer of leaves sprung to life. The castle and mountain no longer endured the harsh blizzards of the endless night, clear skies finally bearing down on them as the celestial heavens glistened to the horizon. Rickter's first step into the restored oceans of his soul followed with the overwhelming presence of this warm, having not felt this since the night of the Call itself. With that warmth came a presence he'd had almost forgotten, having been lost within the storm that'd clouded his heart since he awoke from then. With it a glimpse soon filled his thoughts as Rickter embraced that warmth, visions of a room on the east side of a tower, with a cathedral window hiding his precious soulmate on the other side.
There was so much more to this vision than anticipated, most of it glimpses throughout the tower before the scope of perspective shifted. He could then see it was a bastion of spires surrounding that tower, and then feel the connections between them fill his soul with hope. Rickter knew now where to look within the Imperium for his beloved soulmates, and just like that, the overburdening weight of his doubts grew lighter over each passing second. That pillar of light still stretched high into the sky now, as waves lapped away from the pulsations felt from the power of the emblem. Every thought he held onto, every bad memory that had scarred his heart, all of the pain induced from that withered as he felt clarity sink into him now.
Rickter was aware now, able to see the path he'd walked once more. Looking up to the night sky above he admired the pillar for all it's beauty, the font of Talon's will felt through that light as it empowered the wolf. Even here, in this space, his emblem resonated with a rapid warmth flowing throughout his entire body. "Talon?" To feel the reminder of his soulmate's boundless love, the waters stirred around Rickter as his own aura manifested. Deep blue mist shimmered from his outline as the Emblem brightened on his arm. Soon that aura became wreathed by a silver flame as Rickter felt his hand rest over his own core.
"Hold on, love!" He clenched his fist with intense determination on the pillar, as the light finally began to recede back down to the depths of the sea below. Yet still, Rickter felt that warmth, clung to it even, as he kept his eyes on the sky once more. He had almost strayed from the path he'd chosen, but now, the wolf could see clearly where his destination was ahead. The way to dawn loomed just over the horizon, and for once the stars were out on a clear night.
"I'm coming."
