Paradigms Begin to Shift
Searing, 122 Steel
The Kingdom of Solunarium has begun to receive more visitors from abroad, as their diplomatic efforts in the North led to new relationships both politically and personally for Solunarian citizens. The population, with their rigid ways and centuries of isolationist foreign policy, stands at odds on the influx of aliens in their midst. Many are excited by the novelty, while others regard it as a dangerous shift away from the status quo that has protected them from corrupting influences for ages.
As the Port at Tertium begins to host more and more visitors, far to their Southwest the capital continues to prepare for the centennial jubilee of their glorious radiant queen, Thalya IV Imperatrix, to take place late in Ash. It promises to be one of the most spectacular events of the modern era, which means this season's annual Solunarian Summer Solstice Festival will be a pale shadow of its typical grandeur.
In political news, the ruling branch of Gens Nykara has fallen into disgrace. The former Consul of the human-led Senatus Minor, Khyos Nykara, was accused of sedition by the rival human Gens Argenti. On the grounds that his overt stridency in promoting an Immaculist agenda in opposition to the Sanguinist position of the Crown, the case was brought before the Collegium Magistratuum. After a heated, public trial before the High Court of Solunarium, presided over by the Princeps Praetor himself, the Nykara paterfamilias was found guilty of offences against the Crown and sentenced to the Lex Agni. In gratitude for their service in highlighting Nykara's misdeeds, the Crown forfeit their right of Lex Agni to the Argenti, who elected to show mercy and take on Khyos Nykara and his family as slaves to their house, rather than executing them outright. A cousin branch of Nykara will rise to assume Khyos' former seat on the Senate, and an emergency session will take place early in Searing to elect a successor to assume the role of Consul.
Solunarium Calendar
The weather throughout Searing will be consistently dry during daytime hours with highs of 125 degrees Fahrenheit and lows of 85. After Sundown the temperature will decrease to between 70 and 55 F. All throughout the season, the The Palatium Furiarum will be undergoing preparations for the Centennial Jubilee of the Sovereign. Even though the ceremony will not take place until the season of Ash, it is expected to be the largest official celebration in Solunarium’s living memory (At least for all citizens who are not as long lived as dragons).
The Searing Solstice Festival will be a modest one this year, but the annual harvest celebrations will take place in the Luxium of the Capital as well as the Port City of Tertium. Food and drink will doubtless flow in excess and, though Her Divine Radiance the Queen will not be making a public appearance to mark the occasion, the event in the capital will be hosted by the Crown and several of Solunarium's divine royals will celebrate amongst their lessers.
The Crown versus Nykara is the trial of the season, concluding on the 45th of Searing with a guilty verdict and plunging a once proud & prominent family into disgrace and bondage.
