APPEARANCE

Cetus favors his father; he’s more human - at least in appearance - than elf.

His ears are unfortunately round and, while he’s pale, his skin lacks the ashen quality familiar to the Siltori people. His form is lean and athletic due to his training with the Silver Sentinels, but he isn’t especially tall for a human - and most elves would consider him short. His hair, an inky black, is the only thing he inherited from his mother, and his eyes are a dull sort of brown. Freckles, from his father, are scattered across especially sharp features.

PERSONALITY

Cetus is a liar, in a pick-one-word-to-describe-yourself kind of way. He’s more than just a liar - obviously. He’s ambitious; or, he’s ambitious enough to tell people he is. He’s insecure, but he doesn’t share those particulars.

It’s his parents’ fault. The lying. And the insecurities. Probably the ambition, too.

Cetus’ parents made it clear from a young age: he was to be better than the best, and anything short of perfection is just not good enough. Which he internalized. Show only the perfect and hide everything else.

HISTORY

Alba Metellus Bellona (a Moonborn Re'hyæan Elf) and Titus Argenti Mattia (a human) were a lucky match - both were ambitious. And, aspirational. More importantly, both had what the other wanted.

The Metellus family, while no longer as relevant as they were, could provide Mattia with enough in the way of connections and resources that he could start a nascent political career. And, for Bellona, Mattia offered a chance at a new beginning. Her family - Metellus - was an established lineage, but had long lost their influence and a majority of resources to poor political maneuvering. And, of course, to her grandfather’s nasty gambling addiction.

While there were obstacles and issues to overcome, Bellona and Mattia made quite the effective team. And, as some couples do, they eventually had a child. A son. Or, as Bellona called him - an heir.

Cetus’ childhood was lonely; his parents were too busy to bother with any ideas of second or third children, and he was shepherded from one tutor to the next. While his parents climbed the social and political ladders, he was kept in dormitories and left to his studies. Things never came easily to him - not until he met Khyan at the Academia Arcanum.

And, even then, it wasn’t easy as much as things got better. Friends did that, he found.

And then his parents had to go and ruin that, too. Bellona and Mattia planned a coup against the House Nykara - and they were successful. Mattia found himself a pretty seat as the Consul of the Senatus Minor. The whole of House Nykara sold into slavery.

Cetus did what he could to help his friend, Khyan, not that it would ever be enough.

History

When Cetus initially contracted Gala, she wasn’t anything more than a minor mischief. A trifling. A lie spun without one important word.

She’d hoped to be something greater, mirroring Cetus’ own aspirations. He provided her a way into his world, and she taught him what she could about hers. And, so, they grew together. She learned to do more with the little she had, becoming better than a lesser imp. Somewhere along the line both Cetus and Gala realized there was more they could do together than apart.

Disposition

Gala is all smiles and sweet words; a thinly cast veneer over the endless hunger that makes her core. Gala wants. It’s her nature to imagine what might be hers and to aspire to have it become hers. She’s possessive - being what she is - and more so of Cetus, who’s provided her a path to play her talents against mortals and others, and who’s desire to strive matches hers to be better.

Still, as young as she is, Gala hasn’t learned the value of patience in the games she hopes to play. She can be impulsive and quick to anger, especially when plots of her sour.

Shapeshifter: Gala’s form is a fluid one, and while especially big or small forms may be beyond her - for now - she can effortlessly shift from one face to another, to human to bird, or otherwise.

The Ties That Bind: Gala is adept at the seeing and reading of connections, those storied links of relationship that tie people to their things, other people, and places. She might be able to recognize a daughter a few days after seeing the mother, or to connect a thief to a crime scene.
