Appearance

• Barakael sports curly styled hair of dark brown color. His eyes radiate with a golden amber hue of the pupil{his Sunborn mother} where his iris is a bright blood red{his Vishan father}, which gives him an intense and piercing gaze and takes the breath of those who look into them, which is complimented only by his intoxicating smile. His face is symmetrically perfect with a strong jawline and proportioned facial features. Barakael is a well built muscular tank and has spent most of his young adult life keeping in shape due to his profession.
  
  He has very broad shoulders with an equally large and well toned chest. His core is strong as he sports an eight pack, and he has equally strong arms, legs, and buttocks. He has a tall stature, standing at around 7'1", a height he has inherited from his Mortallen Father. He has a rich sunkissed skin tone inherited from his Vishan father and inherited his sunborn motherability to evenly tan which looks almost ethereal when in the right lighting. His complexion even yet his skin is far from flawless, as scars dot the landscape of his body from his profession and his magics of choice, the most prominent being a large scar he has that goes from the nape of his neck and stops right above his tailbone. Though the scar isn't too noticeable it does stand out once someone lays eyes on his back.

  Barakael is an upright warrior with a strong character. Striving to live a warrior's life like his mother, he is always in search of ways to improve himself. When met with acts of kindness he feels obligated to return any kindness given to him and will work hard to repay their feelings in kind. His temper becomes more controlled in later games, making him cool headed and focused, while still having loyalty to his lord and honor. He has a strong sense of honor, and despises those who use deceit as a means of achieving their goals. Normally calm and benign, he stands with an air of admirable dignity and has respectful manners. He is a man who also has a fondness for literary studies, as well as marital to be a well rounded individual. He holds an indomitable loyalty to the realm and serving the crown and being pleasing in the eyes of the founding twins is his first and foremost goal in life. He will not abandon the Solunarium and treasures each and every soul within the realm as if they are his family. He possesses an unforeseen bravery and determination even when he's faced with overwhelming odds, passionate in all aspects of his life in regards to the realm as a whole. If we delve a little further, Barakael has several personality traits that make him unique from others.
  
  • Bravery:
    The first of his more redeeming traits is his bravery. From an early age, he was a very brave child, always protecting his friends who would get in trouble and taking the blame for them. He would always abandon his fear, and never stopped moving forward no matter the hardships he faced, like losing his family. Though being a brave soul, his courage often makes him a reckless man, always throwing himself in the face of danger, rationalizing it as seeking adventure and fulfilling his purpose. His bravery can also lead Barakael to be very overconfident in his own capabilities unless he knows for a fact he is far more skilled than his enemy. His bravery often bleeds into his confidence, as when you have a courageous soul like his, it's hard for people to doubt you and if you know your shit.
    
    Insatiable:
    Stagnation is not something Barakael knows well, as he has always been striving for more and more as he has gotten older. Even after being taken in by Aya and shown the more opulent side of life, his thirst for the finer things can never be quelled. His appetite is only matched by his ambitions which continue to grow and evolve with each milestone he achieves. He strives and works towards claiming every and all things, striving to engulf power, money, and influence like a bottomless pit.
    
    Personable:
    Being the life of any party, Barakael gives an approachable aura no matter the setting....unless you've pissed him off, then steer clear of him. Always in good spirits most of the time, he can be an uplifting force, seeing the good in any situation, unless it's truly hopeless, then at that point he'll do what he can to help ease the pain. From jokes to telling stories or making a complete fool of himself he enjoys seeing others smile and being the cause, as he knows how much it helps the soul breathe, coming from his own experiences and pains. Just like a big ball of laughter and fun, he is like a jolt of electricity to the system when needed.
  
  
  Backstory
  • Barakael is the love child of a noblewoman and her gladiator lover. Born to Lady Kemri Val'Mahes Minrathi, she saw no reason to keep the child and immediately sent Barakael to be raised by his father. His father at the time was a gladiator within the arena of the Luxium., and worked among a group of gladiators sponsored by a senator. The woman who sponsored these warriors of entertainment welcomed the babe with open arms seeing him as one of her own children as she had done with many of the bastard children born from her gladiators. He grew up watching his father train and fight, day in and day out, fascinated by the art of being a warrior of fortune and the adrenaline of the arena.
    
    Like his father, he was devoted to the Varværyn faith having an interest in the The Cursus Aureus devoting himself to perpetuating the majesty and will of Deus Aværys. Though extremely estranged from his mother, he was loved by the new family around him as he helped the gladiators in their day-to-day activities and training. It was small things here and there at first but as he matured and got older he began to take part in the practices of the fortune warriors, much to both Aya and his father's delight. When he was old enough his father gifted him with the rune of elementalism as a way to connect him to his Mortallen roots. The initiation was an ordeal even Barakael couldn't imagine, but with his father by his side he persevered through it, and came out an Elementalist.
    
    At the age of 18 Barakael and his father trained from the time the sun rose to when it fell beneath the sands once again, the son wanted to catch up to his father and the parent wanted to see his progeny smash through his limits and surpass him. Barakael would attend every fight his pater participated in, praying to the founding twins that he win, in glory of them and their supremacy. it was in these blood-soaked glory filled moments that Barakael yearned to be in the arena, claiming fame and fortune as his father did. He was skilled with hammer and bludgeons alike so he felt he could win a match or two, but his father insisted he take more time to hone his craft and train. The Vishan in Barakael however felt otherwise, holding a burning passion to be in the ring and fighting for glory like his father.
    
    As much as he enjoyed practicing his magic and combative talents with his father, and watching him in the arena, there was always the danger of his father losing a match, and dying. That fear came true in his 22nd year, his father was going up against another famed gladiator within the arena circuit. He had dedicated the match to the founders and to his son. However, Barakael believes the divine twins had other plans for him. His father lost that day, and even in his final moments, his father held a smile on his face as he died in sacrifice to the gods. It was in that moment that Barakael knew he had to join the ranks of the gladiators. He knew he had to bring glory to his father's legacy.
    
    He pleaded with Aya to allow him to participate in the bloodsports, and at first, she denied him. But even she couldn't stand firm in her resolve for long. She would agree to allow him into the gladiatorial ring, but he would have to show her he was ready. What better way to test your skill than with an initiation in Reaving? The two warriors clashed in a fight for both Barakael's pride and his life. With his skill with his trusty hammer, he withstood the trial of the initiation, seeing the phantom of his father in place of Aya during their fight. When the dust of their bout cleared, he had proven himself worthy and successfully emerged a reaver. Now in his 23 year, he readies himself to enter the life of the gladiator and live up to the legacy his father left behind, for glory and far more beyond.

Just Built Different

Vishan Physiology/Biology:

• The smallest in number, the Vishan Moratallen are the Half-Giants of Fire. They are most commonly seen in desert landscapes, the savannah’s of Turoth or alongside their Aqiv brethren in tropical climates. The Vishan are average in terms of height and build with regard to Moratallen. Males and females range between 7 ft. to 8 ft. in height. Skin tones for Vishan range from smoky black and ebony to sun bronzed. Eye color for the Vishan is among the most startling of their kind with reds, amber and blue being common. Hair color can range from a very dark black to auburn to fiery red. The Vishan show remarkable resilience in the face of heat with some even displaying a natural resistance to fire. Additionally, all Vishan are able to see perfectly in even low-light conditions. Dim lighting for them is enough to see as though a room were brightly lit. Total darkness for a Vishan is that of very dimly lit conditions.

• Influence
  The ability to exert one’s will upon the elements found in the natural environment around them. It is achieved by establishing a bridge between the wizard’s personal aether and the aether of the elemental substance found around them. Once established, the wizard can then manipulate it as they desire, to an extent. Elementalists commune with the elements as opposed to lording over them. The power that an elementalist commands is born from a relationship fostered with the natural forces of the world in a give and take dynamic. The wizard creates a bridge between themselves and the element they wish to influence and is able to coerce it into action by feeding it their aether. The Rune of Elements anthropomorphizes the elements for the wizard awakening them to their moods, whispers and purposes.
• Manifest
  The ability to conjure an element at the expense of one’s personal aether. It can then be Influenced or Sculpted as desired.

  The ability to sculpt is the ability to shape an element to more closely match a purpose intended by the elementalist whether artistic or pragmatic. An earth elementalist might reshape a piece of rock from a simple lump to a smooth sphere or a cube. A fire elementalist might coerce the flames to take on the appearance of a blade or other such shapes. The more refined and complex the shape, the more difficult it is for the wizard to sculpt.
• Enmesh
  Allowing for mundane items to be reinforced and instilled with the properties of a particular element or para-element for a limited duration of time.
• Elemental Lodestone
  While the elements manipulated in the world are mundane and simply influenced by the wizard's willpower and communion with the elements, that which is manifested by the wizard of their aether is considered magical in their entirety. Through experimentation and research, elementalists unlocked the power of the Elemental Lodestones. By manipulating Earth Magic, the wizard can create quartz-like crystals formed entirely from their aether. Once complete, the wizard can then imbue these crystals with their own elemental magic. The most powerful versions of these crystals are even capable of holding other forms of Personal Magic.

• Pact
  The foundation of a reaver’s powers is the ability to form the Pact. A Pact should only ever be performed on a mundane weapon or soul cairn artefact. Attempting to form a Pact with a pre-existing runeforged artifact and other such objects is a recipe for disaster and something only the most esteemed masters can hope to achieve, even then there is only a slim chance of success. Reavers gradually grow to be able to maintain several Pacts as they progress in power. Pacts can be formed with: Blades, Bows, Maces, Polearms, Arrows, Shields, even Guns. If a player has a question about whether or not an object can be formed into a Pact Weapon, ask a moderator. The rule of thumb is that it should be something that is intentionally designed to be an instrument of war and battle. Pact weapons are an extension of the reaver. They spend a considerable amount of time doused in the wizard’s aether and even being housed within their very soul. As a result of this, they are very unique magical objects. Over time, a pact weapon’s appearance will begin to take on physical traits that reflect beliefs that the wizard may hold or certain attributes about them. While purely aesthetic, a reaver’s pact weapon says a lot about them and their journey as a reaver in general.
• Materialize
  By tapping into the power of their rune, the reaver opens the door for their weapon to manifest in the physical realm. It costs a reaver next to nothing to simply manifest their individual pact weapons. A materialized pact weapon will remain in the physical world until it is actively dismissed by the wizard, shattered or dematerialized.
• Dematerialize
  The wizard recalls their pact weapon into themselves. Many reavers brace themselves as the weapon instantaneously dematerializes in totality once recalled. They are then subject to the full force of the pain induced by the act. If able, most reavers meditate before recalling their pact weapons into themselves in order to mitigate the severity of the experience. As a result of this, most reavers build up extensive meditation skills and develop a high tolerance for pain. A pact weapon will dematerialize on its own if too far from the reaver.
• Returning
  Pact weapons are continually tied to the wizard they are bonded to. By reaching out across this bond, the wizard can return their pact weapon to their side at will unless unable to do so. The pact weapon does not inherently possess the ability to pass through solid objects and thus it can be blocked from returning to the wizard’s side if summoned in this manner. It does not dematerialize and then rematerialize in the wizard’s hand unless they actively will it to do so. Dematerializing a pact weapon will induce its effects on the reaver, always.

• Projection
  Projection is a means by which the reaver can channel their awareness through their pact weapon. It becomes a proxy for their sight and hearing though they are only capable of perceiving up to a limited range. The pact weapon must be placed wherever they are attempting to project their awareness. While projecting, the wizard is blind and deaf to their immediate surroundings until such time as they cease projecting.
• Sanctuary
  An evolution of dematerializing but one that requires a specific set of circumstances, the power of sanctuary was developed to lessen the effects of dematerialization with pact weapons. The reaver initiates this by stirring their aether into motion and slowly opening up themselves to recalling their pact weapon into themselves. In order to mitigate the experiences written upon the aether of the blade and thus reduce the amount of pain one feels upon recalling it, the reaver must give the weapon new experiences. This is achieved by entering a slow, meditative series of steps with their weapon. The sanctuary lasts as long as the wizard has the strength to sustain it but must be undertaken for double the length of time of the fight in which the pact weapon was used. It is a strong tool but one that must be balanced with the mage’s own fatigue and overall wellbeing. There is a time and place for this technique and in the heat of battle is not one of them.
• Varnish
  The ability through which a reaver can channel other forms of personal magic through their pact weapon. The reaver must be touching their pact weapon in order to first bestow a varnished ability upon it. Channeling the power of the Rune of Reaving, the reaver partially dematerializes the pact weapon. They then subject the pact weapon to the magical effect they wish to varnish it with. The aether of the weapon will retain this arcane form of programming and will then be able to reproduce that specific ability until it is fully dematerialized. The varnish will only allow the weapon to manifest the specific ability it is varnished with. The properties of dragonshards can be applied in this same manner. All varnishes will dissipate once the weapon is next dematerialized and must then be reapplied upon being materialized again. Activating a pact weapon’s varnished ability is the same as using the ability oneself in terms of aether expenditure.
• Morphosis
  A Reaver's relationship over the weapons with which they form a Pact is a unique thing. Nothing quite displays this uniqueness than the ability of Morphosis. Through Morphosis, the reaver can alter the physical structure of the weaponry they have formed a Pact with. The reaver partially dematerializes their pact weapon and morphs its physical form into the shape desired. The caveat to this is that it must be of the same family of weaponry and it must be a weapon that the reaver has knowledge of in terms of use. For instance, a reaver can take a basic longsword and introduce a serrated edge to the blade provided they have used or studied a longsword with a serrated edge. This ability, above all, is a key reason why reavers tend to be so diverse in their knowledge of weaponry and fighting styles.

Description:

• Always seen with a soft smile on her face, Aya is a fierce and wise woman. She can often show signs of her wickedly cryptic side when she is not pleased with those in her employ or inner circle, causing many to fear offending or upsetting her. Her criticism is blunt to help bring out the true potential of those she sees value in.
  
  A fierce warrior Aya spent most of her time since she could walk with a sword in her hand. She dreamed of battle and fighting for the realm and the crown. She finds herself among the devoted of the Cursus Aureus. She joined the Golden Legion when of age and had a great career as a soldier serving the realm for over 3 decades before retiring. Her retirement came at the behest of her family, as the head of house Val'Alarielle had fallen ill, sick with an illness that even some of the best healers money could afford couldn't cure.
  
  Being that her house was can trace their lineage back to those of the house that participated in the Caelian blood cleanse she became the Lady of her house and thus secured a seat among the Senatus Solunarius. Aya is known to be a very persuasive and straight forward speaker in political or social settings, especially during times of war being a former soldier herself. She is a woman of with a fierce level of loyalty and fealty to the Luxium Crown, and her love and loyalty for the realm bring her to go above an d beyond.
  
  She is both reliable and determined and never backs down from what she believes to be the right course of action despite objections from those closest to her. She speaks her mind with confidence and has earned her place among the elven Elite.
