He inclined his head at Iselya’s refusal to be sent away immediately. Still, he could give her something that would be of assistance when the time came. Tapping into the wellspring of his powers, he drew forth a combination of the magics of Elementalism and Traversion. He raised a hand, bringing the tips of his fingers together as aether swirled around his fingertips. The aether crystallized into a white gemstone that was soon filled with aethereal blue-violet mist. He extended the crystal to Iselya.
“I have enchanted this crystal with portal magic. It has a single use. It will transport you to wherever you might have a need to go, when the need may arise. If at all.” He dropped his hand once she had taken it. Her words helped to soothe some of the ache in his chest.
“I do not want the Dawnmartyrs to live in exile anymore. The world needs you.” He wanted to say more but he was already feeling weighted down by the control forced upon him. Too much and not enough spoken all at once and he felt like he might break down under the force of it. He might have been putting on a brave face in front of this knight but the truth of the matter was that he had never felt more vulnerable.
“The sword, if you find it, keep it safe. Keep it safe until the day comes when I may wield it again.” Stepping back, he gave her a slight nod of his head.
“Until then, my knight. I am counting on you.” With that, he aligned the spatial pathways across the Slipspace and stepped from within the confines of the apartment to the world outside. He appeared in the skies above the apartments, several blocks away. He had no way of knowing if he was sending the woman to her death or to a quest that would see her succeed. The future was not his to know but he could hope. He had to hope.
He would go mad if he did not.
