The Arche!

The Umbrium is the lower half and secondary seat of the Solunarian Capital and one of the dual-cities that comprises Solunarium Proper. Before the rise of Aværys, mining revealed the site of a ruined, underground city which they dubbed Oblitium “The Forgotten City”, the foundations of which were incorporated into what is now The Umbrium. Warmed by the magma that churns just behind the walls, the Umbrium houses the Palatium Umbrarum (The Shadow Palace) which was constructed directly beneath its sunlit counterpart, the Blazing Palace. This palace serves as the primary seat of government when the sovereign is moonborn, and houses the headquarters of The Silver Sentinels.

Frost 90 122

Garr sat cross-legged in front of the roaring bonfire in the courtyard of his family's estate. The heat from the flames was intense, and the light flickered across his face, casting shadows that danced across his features. He had always been fascinated by the elements and their power, and he had been trying to become closer to one of them for weeks. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting the warmth of the fire wash over him. He focused his mind on the element of fire, trying to feel its energy and power within him. But as he sat there, he realized that he felt no different than he had before. Fire was not his arche element, and he felt a twinge of disappointment.

Garr had always known that he was different from others. He had an innate sense of magic and power that he couldn't explain. He had spent years studying and practicing, trying to figure out where his strength lay. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to master any one element. As he sat there, lost in thought, he heard footsteps approaching. He opened his eyes and saw one of his family's servants, a young girl named Eliza, standing nearby.

"Is everything alright, my lord?" she asked, concern etched on her face.

Garr nodded, smiling at her reassuringly. "Yes, Eliza. I'm just deep in thought."

She nodded and took a step back, giving him some space. Garr appreciated her concern, but he couldn't help feeling frustrated. He needed to find his arche element if he was ever going to fully realize his potential.

He closed his eyes again and focused on the fire, trying to sense its energy. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to connect with it. He sighed heavily, feeling defeated.

As he opened his eyes again, he saw Eliza standing nearby, holding out a cup of water. "Here, my lord," she said softly. "You look like you could use this."

Garr took the cup gratefully and drank deeply, feeling the coolness of the water wash over him. As he handed the cup back to Eliza, he felt a sudden jolt of energy run through him. He gasped in surprise, feeling a tingling sensation in his fingertips.

He closed his eyes again and focused on the feeling. It wasn't from water, it was from wind. As soon as he'd taken a drink, a rush of air blew through his hair and enveoloped his body. He couldn't help but feel its energy and power. It was then that he realized that wind was his arche element. He felt a sense of relief and joy flood through him, knowing that he had finally found his place in the world.

As he opened his eyes again, he saw Eliza looking at him with a mixture of awe and wonder. "My lord, what just happened?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Garr smiled at her, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. "I just found my arche element," he said softly. "Wind. And I have you to thank for it."

Eliza smiled back at him, and Garr felt a sudden urge to embrace her. He wanted to pull her into his arms, feeling her body pressing against his. But he resisted. She was merely a servant after all.

He stared into the flames with a determined look on his face to distract him from his less formal urges. His lessons had taught him that elements could be combined with his arche element to create powerful effects, and he was eager to try it out for himself. Since his arche element was wind, he wondered if he could coax the wind and fire to combine into lightning. It was a challenging task, but he was determined to succeed.

With a deep breath, Garr closed his eyes and focused his energy on the fire. He began to move his fingers in a complex pattern, trying to coax the flames to dance and sway in time with the wind. It was a delicate dance, requiring precise control and concentration, but Garr was determined to see it through.

As he continued to work, he felt a sense of excitement building within him. He could feel the energy of the fire and the wind swirling around him, and he knew that he was close to creating something truly spectacular. But as he opened his eyes and looked at the fire, he was disappointed to see that all he had managed to produce were a few small sparks. It was nothing impressive, and certainly not the powerful display of lightning he had been hoping for.

Garr let out a frustrated sigh, feeling a sense of defeat wash over him. He had been so sure that he could coax the elements to cooperate, but it seemed that they were not willing to work together. He wondered if perhaps he simply did not have the necessary skill and control to combine the elements in such a way.

But as he sat there, feeling discouraged, he realized that he was not alone. The servants who had built the fire were watching him with curiosity, clearly fascinated by his attempts to control the elements. And as he looked at them, he felt a sense of pride welling up within him. Even though he had not succeeded in creating lightning, he had still managed to produce a small display of magic. And that was something to be proud of.

With a newfound sense of determination, Garr decided to continue practicing his control over the elements. He knew that it would take time and practice to master the art of elemental manipulation, but he was willing to put in the effort. And who knows, maybe one day he would be able to create the powerful displays of magic that he had always dreamed of.

As he sat there, lost in thought, he suddenly felt a gust of wind pick up around him. He closed his eyes and focused, feeling the wind whipping around him with increasing force. And then, with a sudden burst of energy, he felt the wind and fire combine into a brilliant display of sparks and flames.

Garr's eyes widened in amazement as he watched the display of magic before him. It wasn't lightning, but it was still a powerful display of elemental manipulation. And as the sparks flew around him, he knew that he had finally succeeded in coaxing the elements to cooperate.

As Garr sat there in the courtyard, staring at the small sparks he had produced from trying to combine wind and fire, he couldn't help but feel like he could do more. He had been so sure that he could coax the two elements into creating lightning, but it seemed that he had overestimated his abilities. However, as he sat there, he began to realize that he hadn't fully appreciated finding his arche element to begin with.

It was true that he had been fascinated by all of the elements and had spent countless hours trying to understand their intricacies, but in doing so, he had neglected to truly focus on his own arche element. But now, as he sat there, he could feel the wind gently brushing against his skin, and he realized just how much easier it was for him to manipulate this element. It was as if a veil had been lifted, and suddenly he could see the world in a new light.

With newfound determination, Garr stood up and began to experiment with the wind. He could feel the power of the element coursing through his veins, and he reveled in the feeling of control that he had over it. He practiced manipulating the wind in various ways, from creating gusts to swirling currents, and each time he succeeded, he felt a sense of pride and accomplishment.

As he continued to work with the wind, Garr realized that he had been so focused on trying to control all of the elements that he had missed out on the true joy of mastering his own arche element. He felt a sense of clarity and purpose that he had never experienced before, and he knew that from that moment on, he would dedicate himself to truly understanding the wind and all of its nuances. For Garr, the realization that his true power lay in his arche element.

As Garr sat by the fire, lost in thought, the servant approached him with a tray of snacks and drinks. "My lord, I must say, you look quite powerful sitting there like that," the servant said, her eyes filled with admiration. Garr looked up, surprised by the sudden compliment. He was used to being served by his household staff, but he rarely received any compliments from them.

A smile spread across his face as he basked in the praise. He felt a sense of satisfaction and pride that someone recognized his potential. Garr realized that being a lord had its perks, including the adoration and respect of his staff. He thought to himself that he would have to reward the servant later for her kind words. The thought of rewarding her brought a sense of pleasure to Garr. He enjoyed the feeling of power and control, knowing that he could make someone's day by giving them a small token of his appreciation. Garr made a mental note to think of a suitable reward for the servant, something that would show his gratitude for her compliment.
