Periculum Ludus

Wherein Dæmon and Vrædyn are reunited.

"Red Rock Citadel" is a remote outpost of the Silver Sentinels situated in a barren stretch of the Atraxian Desert which serves as headquarters to the Custodes Deorum- A branch of the Vigilia devoted to the divine affairs.

"Very well, Highness." Vrædyn bowed his head in acknowledgement of Talon's explanation of his next steps.

"Hither we have the Academia Arcanum. It is one organisation with campuses in both the Upper and Lower capital, as well as having several satellite facilities in the Expanse. In addition to being a university that educates our most promising mages, irrespective of caste, it is also an agency dedicated to expanding our magical prowess as a nation and a people. The Sentinels can probably set you up to work at the Umbrian campus, if that is helpful." Vrædyn considered the request for schematics,

"No such thing exists, to my knowledge, but I can have something drawn up. Surely you have recognised the core of the Sceptre is Illumite. A large shard that had been housed in the Temple of the Blazing Sun for millennia. It was used for sundry rituals..." The details of which he elected not to elaborate upon in present company, "...before the dynasties gathered to repurpose it toward its current function."

Vrædyn carefully considered the opportunity presented, nodding thoughtfully.

"As our borders have begun to teem with new peregrini, there are religious concerns over incursion from.... Inmortui. You call them Undead. In our holy Faith, they are seen to be a painful perversion of life's radiance. We have brooked no such creatures in our lands in living memory, and would see any that may lurk beneath Aværys' Sacred Sceptre be obliterated. As Aværys doth abhor the Inmortui, I would ask that His Sceptre be baneful to them and rendereth Atraxia deadly hostile to their presence."

He smiled faintly, almost bashfully.

"I am not without Necromantic knowledge myself, and would happily lend my services to the execution of this endeavour if you deem it possible."

He considered the requesting regarding the undead. He had no personal fondness for the undead. Quite the contrary, every experience he had been given with an undead creature had been wholly violent and terrible. They were either attempting to take possession of his body, attacking him or causing misery wherever they went.

The incorporation of such a feature is possible. I will approach it in my planning. If you are to take the helm of including the necromantic aspects, that would be agreeable.” His mind was already processing the various materials he was likely going to need. It would be an endeavor that required the full skill of his assembled staff, who had been running the Skyforge in his absence beautifully. While some of his more personal projects had been stalled, the regular business had continued because all of it was well within the forge’s capabilities without his direct involvement. With his thoughts turning toward more lofty pursuits than the throne of Kalzasi lately, he was beginning to consider other avenues of expanding his business pursuits. Time would tell whether they would be fruitful.

If there is nothing more, Highness? I will be going back to my workshop to gather my materials and my staff. The sooner we begin, the better.
