[Rickter]

Companion: Telion Gullwin

Biography
A 5'9" Atinoran originally from a settlement known as Loras, Telion has traveled far across the Wildking's Forge just to reach Kalzasi. She is easily noticeable by her platinum blonde hair and remarkably steel-blue eye color. Telion grew up being the daughter of a bard and a herbalist until the war came, and she had been left under the care of her grandmother not long after. While herbology and flowery became a bit of a second hobby for her, Telion tried to take after her father by learning the ukelele. Not long after she became a bard she started to have dreams of a distant place, and even, of a certain individual that she would one day meet.

Driven by her curiosity from these dreams, Telion eventually decided to venture beyond the limits of her village. She left Loras to head north for Karnor, and met with a roguish pirate during her travels. Together they became two peas in a pod, and in realizing she was in those dreams as well, traveled with Hannah toward the Karnor's Jewel of the North: Kalzasi. The arrival led to a new cultural shock for the budding bard, yet, Telion was not aware of how quickly Fate's tapestry weaved her destined encounter. In meeting the wolf for the first time, their encounter resulted in the shattering of her precious instrument, an act that he regretted deeply enough to recompense her for after.

Thus she lingered in Kalzasi and grew to become a friendly acquaintance of Rickter's, aiding him on any mercenary jobs he went on to help out with restoring the broken ukulele. It wasn't long after that they started to develop a supportive friendship with one another, and in turn, began seeing one another as romantic interests in the process. Ever since then her talents, and power, have grown with each passing season; and her dedication to Rickter and his cause remains all the more consistent with their feelings toward one another.

Runes: Elementalism

Abilities

Influence - Gained at Novice. The ability to exert one’s will upon the elements found in the natural environment around them. It is achieved by establishing a bridge between the wizard’s personal aether and the aether of the elemental substance found around them. Once established, the wizard can then manipulate it as they desire, to an extent.

Elementalists commune with the elements as opposed to lording over them. The power that an elementalist commands is born from a relationship fostered with the natural forces of the world in a give and take dynamic. The wizard creates a bridge between themselves and the element they wish to influence and is able to coerce it into action by feeding it their aether. The Rune of Elements anthropomorphizes the elements for the wizard awakening them to their moods, whispers and purposes.

Manifest - Gained at Novice. The ability to conjure an element at the expense of one’s personal aether. It can then be Influenced or Sculpted as desired.

Sculpting - Gained at Apprentice. The ability to sculpt is the ability to shape an element to more closely match a purpose intended by the elementalist whether artistic or pragmatic. An earth elementalist might reshape a piece of rock from a simple lump to a smooth sphere or a cube. A fire elementalist might coerce the flames to take on the appearance of a blade or other such shapes. The more refined and complex the shape, the more difficult it is for the wizard to sculpt.

Enmesh - Gained at Apprentice. Allowing for mundane items to be reinforced and instilled with the properties of a particular element or para-element for a limited duration of time.

Elemental Lodestone - Gained at Apprentice. While the elements manipulated in the world are mundane and simply influenced by the wizard's willpower and communion with the elements, that which is manifested by the wizard of their aether is considered magical in their entirety. Through experimentation and research, elementalists unlocked the power of the Elemental Lodestones. By manipulating Earth Magic, the wizard can create quartz-like crystals formed entirely from their aether. Once complete, the wizard can then imbue these crystals with their own elemental magic. The most powerful versions of these crystals are even capable of holding other forms of Personal Magic.

Arche - Gained at Journeyman. As the Elementalist grows more powerful and acquires the ability to influence, manifest and sculpt more elements simultaneously, they are faced with a decision once they’ve reached Journeyman status. They gain an Arche Element. The elemental force that has, over time, become closest to the elementalist taking a place in their magical practices far above that of the others. An Elementalist will only ever gain a single Arche Element but through this relationship and bonding many incredible things can be achieved outside of what would be possible with elements that do not share in the dynamics of an Arche. The Arche element will answer the call of the elementalist more readily, it will more easily serve as a conduit of the mage's power and is likened to having a close friend and elemental spirit always nearby.

Blending - Gained at Journeyman. The ability to combine elements in order to create para-elements. The wizard is only able to blend elements with their Arche Element or the Attuned Element of their environment. For instance an Elementalist whose arche is Water can blend together Water and Earth but cannot blend together Fire and Earth as fire is not their arche.

Deference - Gained at Journeyman. The elementalist gains heightened resistance to their Arche Element. Furthermore, the elements in general show a level of awareness and respect to the elementalist. The elementalist will seldom be without water in a desert, the fire in a burning building might withhold some of its intensity allowing for lives to be saved more quickly and successfully. It remains a conversation and the more aware the elementalist is of this conversation, the more understanding they gain in how to navigate the moods of the elements in the world around them.

Elemental Attunement - Gained at Expert. Every environment has an element that tends to dominate that particular area. A mine might be dominated by the element of earth or perhaps fire in the case of an underground lava flow. The desert could be dominated by earth or the scorching heat of fire or even the biting of the winds in more frozen climates. Upon becoming an expert in Elementalism, the wizard can reach out to their environment and attune to the element that logically stands out the most. With the exception of their Arche element, attuning to the predominant element in an environment means operating at a higher level with that particular element at the cost of the others being greatly subdued for the wizard. Attuned elements can be blended with their arche element with greater ease. Additionally, the wizard can blend other elements with the element they are attuned to though it is more difficult than would be with their arche element.

In order to attune to the element in their environment, the wizard meditates and reaches out to the environment around them. After a period of a few hours, the element that is strongest in that area will become attuned to them. Wizards who are skilled in meditation will see this time lessened. It is ill advised to remain attuned to a particular element where it is not dominant. This will have the adverse effect of taxing the wizard's strength considerably as their attuned element attempts to manifest at the levels as would be normal where it is usually the dominant element.

A wizard can only be attuned to a single element at a time. They can attune to a new element whenever they so choose as long as they have the time and freedom to meditate appropriately.


Prescience - Gained at Master. The elementalist’s Arche Element makes a point to protect their elementalist. Wind might intercede an incoming arrow and redirect it or a sheet of fire might suddenly manifest and burn an incoming aggressor. In each instance it is considered to be a spell being cast by the elementalist, regardless of how it manifests. They gain immunity from harm to their Arche Element in all of its forms.

Synergy - Gained at Master. The elementalist becomes a living embodiment of their Arche Element for a short time. While utilizing this ability the elementalist is capable of extraordinary feats with their Arche Element. An earth elementalist could compel the earth into motion so as to create an earthquake that can topple a city. A wind elementalist could be able to conjure tornadoes and hurricanes to cause mass devastation. While a lesser elementalist could certainly coerce the elements into motion to similar effect, the difference lies in the fact that the synergy enables the elementalist to become that which they manifest. Their Arche Element becomes a willing vector for their presence and power in the purview of the area the elementalist can affect. A synergy between the elementalist and their arche element can be used to miraculous or devastating effect that makes them truly terrifying to behold. The synergy can only be maintained safely for a few hours at most and will always induce heavy amounts of overstepping once ended.

Elemental Surge -Apprentice

With continued practice of expression through the Elements, Rickter's natural aura has begun to radiate at a higher degree than normal. Though the aura itself is purely unaspected aether, Rickter can increase its presence through the act of spellcasting. With Elementalism this generates a minor "Elemental Affinity" within the aura, strengthening the presence of a chosen element with each cast made in tandem. The aura can only maintain a single elemental affinity at one time, therefore, switching elements during a cast will only cause the aura to revert to its original state.

Each time an element is cast the aura generates elemental properties of that same element, doubling the element's power with each cast made in succession. However, the aura is limited to five casts total before the affinitive energy must be released, otherwise, the aura will dissipate after a short period; or when a different element has been cast. This is a useful boon for casting higher-grade spells at half the aether cost, however, requires patience as Rickter must build up the surge within his aura to utilize such advanced spell power.

Aquatic Attrition -Journeyman

Rickter's prowess with Elementalism has allowed him to develop a stronger affinity with the elements, water has explicitly grown to embrace him naturally any time it is within his presence. While he may simply be soaked at times due to the element, large bodies of water will actually support him in unexpected ways. Swimming becomes twice as easier as currents will carry the wolf wherever he needs to go, enabling him to swim twice as fast as he would with just his natural abilities alone. Underwater ventures are also possible with the capacity to breathe when diving, as water filters air through Rickter's nostrils to enable continuous breathing when exploring deeper areas.

Powers
Blackfrost Elementalism
Within Rickter is the capacity to be a noble and honorable warrior, a guardian and protector but within him is also a dark side. Touched as he has been by the forces of the Realm of Nyxus, his divine essence has been tainted with a sliver of the Dark Realm. Weaving together the powers of Ice and Shadow, Rickter can summon this terrifying power at the cost of inching closer and closer to becoming a shadow-touched berserker. While devastating in its effects, every invocation runs the risk of becoming consumed by his inner rage, wrath, and darkness because of how truly volatile this power is.

Inured to Flame - Ice conjured from the deepest and darkest depths of the frigid and icy elemental plane, where the cold winds and frozen tundra merge with the realm of shadow. Blackfrost cannot be melted with ordinary fire. It can only be melted and combated with magical flames.

Cold Contagion - Blackfrost will persist, unnaturally so, wherever it has been conjured. It ignores the natural order of the world and will remain cold even in the hottest desert. It will spread and slowly sap the light, warmth, and vitality out of everything it touches. Rickter can banish it back to the dark depths of where it came from but at the cost of sapping his own strength and vitality for doing so.

Frozen Withering - Individuals struck by Blackfrost ice will find themselves not only wounded but also sapped of strength, vitality, vigor, and even hope as all warmth and light is drained from them.

Runes: Kinetics

Abilities

Aether Sight - Aquired at Novice. The kinetic gains the ability to perceive the aether around them. By opening themselves to this perception they can see the Flux in motion within the world. This enables them to insert their aether into the Flux of that which they intend to move in whatever manner they desire. The Aether Sight imparted by the Rune of Kinetics does not bestow upon the wizard the ability to read into the properties of said aether. They are simply able to perceive the motion of the aether around them.

Push - Acquired at Novice. Iconic among kinetics is the ability to push objects seemingly with a thought. Kinetics know this isn’t entirely true. Pushing is achieved by extending one’s aether into the Flux and creating an outward ripple that cascades against the object the wizard desires to move. This in turn shoves the object in the direction the wizard wants.

Lift - Acquired at Novice. The wizard extends their aether into the Flux and redirects the currents around them in order to shift it in an upward motion. This aether when gathered around the intended object causes it to rise out of what would be considered its normal current at that point in time. Objects at rest are easier to lift than objects in motion as they require less of an interruption of their movement through the Flux.

Pull - Acquired at Novice. Reaching into the Flux, the wizard redirects the flow of aether in such a way as it now moves toward them. This in turn produces the effects of moving the desired object toward the wizard.

Aether Sense - Acquired at Apprentice. The Flux is in constant motion. The kinetic gains a sense of that motions and can feel the ripples around them with great clarity. As a result they can sense the movements of objects within the Flux.

Compression - Acquired at Apprentice. The wizard is able to bring together the Flux in a particular area as to produce a short-lived hardening effect in the aether. The longer the wizard concentrates the longer the effect persists however it dissipates almost immediately upon concentration being dropped.

Seeming - Acquired at Apprentice. The concept of joining one’s aether to the aether of another object is not unique to kinetics. However, this joining for the kinetic is minor in comparison and produces what can be equated to a magnetic effect. This is the technique that many kinetics have used to maintain perfect balance while walking across a tight rope or what has enabled them to walk upright on a wall. This technique requires continual focus. An interruption of that focus immediately sees the wizard’s own aether Flux separate from that which they were Seeming with.

Splintering - Acquired at Journeyman. The wizard punches a hole in the Flux using their aether. This can have differing effects depending on what the wizard does from there. If they expand the hole it can cause the affected object to explode. If they allow the vacuum in the Flux created by the hole to fill in, it can cause an implosion. Explosions and implosions are equal to the size of the hole the wizard punches into the Flux. The bigger the hole, the more taxing it is on the wizard’s strength. All hole created in such manner will immediately fill in once the wizard drops concentration.

Acceleration - Acquired at Expert. The wizard accelerates the flow of the Flux. This can be used to produce a variety of effects such as increasing their own speed of movement, to causing heightened levels of friction resulting in fire starting.

Deceleration - Acquired at Expert. The wizard decelerates the flow of the Flux. This can be used to slow an object’s movement to completely holding an object in place. More advanced uses can produce cryo effects.

Vibration - Acquired at Master. The ability to send precise and focused ripples flowing outward from the body across the Flux. The result is dependant upon the wizard’s intent. This can see a massive sonic boom sent cascading outward from the wizard or it can be a truly devastating explosion of telekinetic force sent barreling out from the wizard in all directions as opposed to just one. Of course, more subtle variations have equally subtle but powerful results.

Sculpting - Acquired at Master. Possessing such a refined grasp on the ability to manipulate through the Flux, the wizard is able to reshape physical objects like a sculptor molds clay. Granted, sculpting objects into anything other than basic shapes would require the wizard have the prerequisite knowledge of how to build such objects. Possessing the ability to reshape a hunk of metal into a suit of armor does not mean one possesses the knowledge of how to do so. Calling on the full mastery of the Flux and recognizing that it is just as much within all things as it surrounds them, the wizard can propel their powers of kinetics to new and untold heights.

Though the aura itself is purely unaspected aether, Rickter can increase its presence through the act of spellcasting. With Kinetics this generates a minor "force field" of aetheric fluctuations within the aura, enhancing the flow of aether with each cast made in tandem. The aura can only manifest as a telekinetic force as a result, and cannot take on any other magical properties such as elements when active. Doing so causes the Flux Force to disperse and reverts the aura into its original state.

Each time a spell or technique is used to generate more Force in the aura, the telekinetic field of energy doubles in power with each cast made in succession. However, the aura is limited to five casts total before it reaches maximum fluctuation, which either dissipates after a short period or the energy itself is released in one final output. This is a useful boon for achieving multiple feats; such as supercharged acrobatics and techniques, as well as higher-grade spells for half the aether cost. However, this also requires patience as Rickter must build up the fluctuations within his aura to utilize such advanced spell power.

Abilities

Mandate - Acquired at Novice. A Mandate is a specific trigger woven into a barrier codifying what will activate the shield. Mandates can be as broad or as specific as the mage requires but the more specific the Mandate, the more time-consuming it is to implement. The more familiar the mage is with the subject of the Mandate, the easier it will be to weave into the aether of their shield. Absent of a Mandate, a shield will be continually active whereas imposing a Mandate upon a shield will mean it is only active when that specific trigger causes it to activate.

Buckler - Acquired at Novice. Guard. The mage creates a concentrated plate of aether typically no wider than the length of their forearm. Woven into the buckler is a simple task which is to block, getting no more specific than that. Due to the broadness of the task, the Buckler is well suited as a quick defensive measure during hostile encounters. A Buckler tends to deteriorate rapidly due to the lack of specificity in its tasking and thus burns through its aether quickly unless actively sustained.

Shelter - Acquired at Novice. Ward. A shelter is a simple barrier that has been erected over a small area, typically no larger than a small encampment of five or less people. Incapable of incorporating highly detailed tasking, Shelters are comprised of only a select few layers and generally only sustain basic directives such as blocking sound, light, or smell and other such simple instructions.

Riposte - Acquired at Novice. Guard. A rapidly constructed single-use shield, the Riposte is invoked in the heat of the moment where imminent danger is clear. Requiring the mage visibly see the danger coming their way, the Negation mage weaves together a simple shield made of thinly spun aether with but a single task, which is to defend against the oncoming assault. As soon as the assault is absorbed by the shield, it immediately shatters, having performed its function.

Cage - Acquired at Apprentice. Ward. A defensive trap requiring at least a single Mandate to activate. A Cage is a barrier that is woven into a given area intended to entrap those who trigger it in the given space as opposed to keeping them out of it.

Bulwark - Acquired at Apprentice. Guard. Weaving together a shield comprised of tightly spun aether, the Bulwark is an evolution of the Buckler capable of covering the entirety of the mage’s body. Requiring active sustainment, the Bulwark provides greater coverage while still allowing for maneuverability.

Static - Acquired at Journeyman. Guard. Negation is built upon the concept of reinforcing the Laws of the Mundane, wherein it prevents the shift in aether that allows a paranormal event to take place. The power of Static is a concentrated reinforcement of that concept in a focalized area, distributed in short bursts. This creates a series of pulses sent out from the mage wherein the aether targeted by them is essentially frozen into an unmoving state for a short period of time, thus disrupting its flow and grinding any aetheric movement to a halt. This in turn prevents any magical effects from occurring in the area where the mage’s focus is directed.

Sanctum - Acquired at Journeyman. Ward. Capable of encompassing most small buildings, a Sanctum is a barrier comprised of multiple layers that incorporates more moderate levels of tasking such as being able to block a specific person (but not their relatives) or to allow all sound but the occupants of the Sanctum’s voices to pass outside its boundaries.

Aegis - Acquired at Expert. Ward. A powerful barrier that is capable of encompassing a very large area including up to several buildings. An Aegis is comprised of multiple layers and usually several Mandates while also being able to sustain advanced levels of very specific tasking.

Web - Acquired at Expert. Guard. Intended to be used in the face of hostile magic. A single-use advanced technique wherein the Negation mage creates a type of netting out of their aether. The strands of the Web remain flexible enough to bend in the face of hostile magic only for the Negation mage to pull them taught resulting in a rebound effect wherein the magic directed at the Web is either deflected in another direction or is reflected back at the caster. The Web then crumbles after its function unless actively sustained or recreated by the mage.

Mute - Acquired at Expert. Ward. Requiring that the Negation mage extend their own aether into the surrounding area, they overlap their aether across that of their surroundings and create a facsimile of it. As a result, any resulting external manipulation of aether in the area must first pass through the layer created by the mage allowing the Negation mage to actively reject or allow said manipulation to occur.

Fortress - Acquired at Master. Ward. A Fortress is a multilayered, complex barrier typically with numerous Mandates moderating its activity and activation. This shield is large, capable of encompassing entire city blocks if necessary but it quite time consuming to construct due to the many factors necessary to implement it seamlessly. A Fortress is capable of incorporating very advanced tasking.

Injunction - Acquired at Master. Guard. An evolution of the Mandate, rather than imposing it on their own barriers and shields, the Negation mage inserts their directive into an existing aether flow completely disrupting it or restructuring it. This in turn can cause the complete collapse of a magical activity or an interruption of it while not requiring the Negation mage to construct an entire barrier to counteract it.

Monolith - Acquired at Master. Guard and Ward. The Negation mage creates a field of immovable aether centered on themselves wherein no external manipulation of aether can occur. Furthermore, they are able to project a physical barrier around themselves or in the immediate surroundings giving it any number of Mandates, layers, and tasks. This in turn can create a type of invulnerability for the period of time that the Monolith is maintained. While utterly demanding to maintain, encountering a Monolith is to encounter a person capable of defending against most anything with a mere flick of their thoughts. Invoking the Monolith will always induce levels of Overstepping simply because of how demanding actively maintaining such a widely adaptive shield requires.

Obscurus - Acquired at Novice. Ateromancy. Channeling the powers of Nyxus, the warlock channels their aether into the shadows present around them. By expanding their influence over the shadows, they can then enhance them thereby plunging an area into heightened levels of darkness. This can be useful in extending the area wherein they can use their powers more effectively. Additionally, through this power the warlock is able to conjure shadow by transforming their own aether into the darkness of the void.

Restis - Acquired at Novice. Ateromancy. The warlock extends their influence into the shadows of the world around them. Through this link they are able to manipulate them into shapes and even make them move independently of objects they are attached to. This power alone does not solidify those shadows into tangible objects.

Lacero - Acquired at Novice. Transmutation. The warlock allows the essence of the void to enter their body more fully, specifically into their hands. This manifests as razor sharp claws of eldritch and corrosive dark power. The corruptive influence of these claws affects both physical and aethereal objects. In the case of physical, the claws can rend, slash and cut much like the claws of a natural beast. The claws have the added effect of imparting a corrosive poison. For the living, they become afflicted by symptoms similar to the first stages of Overstepping with the rune of Nyx. For aethereal powers (i.e. a Negation ward) the corruptive influence of the void eats away at the inherent magic present within that which is touched. This only has a substantive effect on manifestations of equal or lesser power (i.e. a Novice cannot affect something at the Apprentice level).

Vide - Acquired at Novice. Voidwalking. By closing themselves off to the world around them, the warlock can project their sense of Sight and Hearing through the shadows. This is achieved by entering a meditative state and projecting one’s consciousness through the void in order to behold the world through the shadows present in the area one wishes to view. If there are no shadows in the area one is attempting to perceive, then it is inaccessible.

Fortis - Acquired at Apprentice. Ateromancy. Building upon their manipulation of shadows as a tangible force, the warlock channels their aether into the darkness and solidifies it into a hardened structure. This gives the shadows weight and tangibility enabling the warlock to erect things such as walls of shadow, blunt blasts of shadows and other such manifestations.

Gladius - Acquired at Apprentice. Ateromancy. Harnessing the shadows of the void, the warlock takes a more lethal approach in the wielding of the darkness. Rather than concentrating their aether to create a broadly solid structure, they hone the edge of their aetheric shadows into a razor sharp weapon capable of cutting.

Cirrus - Acquired at Apprentice. Transmutation. The warlock allows the energies of the void to suffuse one of their limbs and transforms it into a writhing tentacle of inky blackness. The tentacle can extend greater distances than a natural limb and is several times stronger than a normal extremity.

Passus - Acquired at Apprentice. Voidwalking. Stepping into the shadows, the warlock is capable of physically entering the realm of Nyxus in order to traverse it for a short time. The shadow they enter must be large enough to physically enable them to pass their whole body through it. Returning to the prime material realm must be accomplished either through the shadow cast by another person, place or thing that is of equal or greater size. Passus only allows them to move themselves through the void, not other people.

Vorago - Acquired at Journeyman. Ateromancy. The warlock stirs the shadows of a given area into motion and pulls the presence of the void more firmly into the prime material realm. The shadows then coalesce and from them spring a number of writhing black tendrils of corrosive dark energy. The tendrils act to grab and restrain any and all who come within reach.

Ignis - Acquired at Journeyman. Ateromancy. Summoning the dark energies of the void, the warlock conjures an eldritch fire that burns cold and is infused with the corruptive influence of Nyxus. The fires of the void cast a dark light that, when covering an area, creates a space that counteracts natural light thereby enhancing the magic of a warlock. The space is brought closer to the void making it an area more susceptible to the void’s influence.

Brutum - Acquired at Journeyman. Transmutation. The warlock invites a heightened level of the void’s influence into their body. This results in a grim transformation into a beast of Nyxus for a period of time. While in this state, the warlock is more prone to destructive and corruptive actions. They are more inclined to unleash the full brutality of the power of the void. The benefit of this state is higher resistance to both magical and mundane harm.

Mantellum - Acquired at Journeyman. Voidwalking. The warlock brings a facet of the realm of Nyxus into the prime material plane and uses it to cloak themselves entirely in shadow. Via this method they are capable of traveling from shadow to shadow on the material plane regardless of size. Doing so however, leaves an open doorway behind them for a short period of time exposing the material world to the emergence of shadowspawn creatures until that portal closes.

Manikatos - Acquired at Expert. Ateromancy. Funneling their influence over the realm of Nyxus and using it to overlap both the material realm and the void, the warlock takes control of a person’s shadow while it is linked to their physical body. In this manner, the warlock can puppet a person’s actions while manipulating their shadow.

Militus - Acquired at Expert. Ateromancy. Reaching into the deepest pits of the void, the warlock expands their influence over shadows and funnels intense amounts of dark energy into them. As a result of this, they open the doorway for shadowspawn to enter into the prime material realm, creating portals for the creatures to emerge from. Unlike with Summoning, where such conjurations are bound to obey the summoner, these entities act of their own accord unless forced to abide by the warlock’s will. As creatures comprised of the void’s purest energies, such creatures are subject to the influence of such powers as Manikatos and Restis.

Furia - Acquired at Expert. Transmutation. Perhaps one of the most sinister powers at a warlock’s disposal is the ability to channel the corruptive powers of Nyxus into the body of another being. The warlock opens first themselves up to a significant amount of the energies of the void and unleashes it upon another, suffusing that person or creature in a tide of dark power. Lacking sufficient protection, the individual will be subjected to a monstrous transformation becoming a beast of the void. While not under the warlock’s direct control, the individual transformed is more susceptible to such powers as Manikatos or Restis.

Regnum - Acquired at Expert. Voidwalking. The warlock transforms all shadows around them into doorway into the realm of Nyxus exerting such influence as to allow others to travel to the dark plane with them. Travelers should be warned however, lacking power of their own to travel from plane to plane, the only way back is to be transported by the warlock who brought them there.

Defectus - Acquired at Master. Ateromancy and Voidwalking. Rather than simply manipulating the shadows around them, the warlock unleashes the power of Nyxus drawing a portion of the dark realm into the prime material plane. This blankets the area in total darkness where the void itself has taken root creating a space where even sunlight and moonlight from the skies are blocked.

Gehenna - Acquired at Master. Ateromancy, Voidwalking, Transmutation. Reaching into the realm of Nyxus, the warlock extends their influence to every shadow in a given area. Where there are no shadows, their own shadow extends outward from their body to blanket an entire area and through it a storm of voidfire is unleashed upon an area. The fire is so infused with the power of the void that not only does it burn cold, cause corruptive sickness, and disrupt other magic with its corruption, people and creatures caught within the inferno who experience prolonged exposure are subject to monstrous transformation. As a consequence of the unleashing of this power, the warlock transforms into a shadowy titan of the void for the duration of their use of this power. Returning from this state is difficult for the individual as while in this state they are extremely inclined to unleash the full extent of the void’s influence.

Pact - Acquired at Novice. The foundation of a reaver’s powers is the ability to form the Pact. A Pact should only ever be performed on a mundane weapon or soul cairn artefact. Attempting to form a Pact with a pre-existing runeforged artifact and other such objects is a recipe for disaster and something only the most esteemed masters can hope to achieve, even then there is only a slim chance of success. Reavers gradually grow to be able to maintain several Pacts as they progress in power. Pacts can be formed with: Blades, Bows, Maces, Polearms, Arrows, Shields, even Guns. If a player has a question about whether or not an object can be formed into a Pact Weapon, ask a moderator. The rule of thumb is that it should be something that is intentionally designed to be an instrument of war and battle. Pact weapons are an extension of the reaver. They spend a considerable amount of time doused in the wizard’s aether and even being housed within their very soul. As a result of this, they are very unique magical objects. Over time, a pact weapon’s appearance will begin to take on physical traits that reflect beliefs that the wizard may hold or certain attributes about them. While purely aesthetic, a reaver’s pact weapon says a lot about them and their journey as a reaver in general.

Materialize - Acquired at Novice. By tapping into the power of their rune, the reaver opens the door for their weapon to manifest in the physical realm. It costs a reaver next to nothing to simply manifest their individual pact weapons. A materialized pact weapon will remain in the physical world until it is actively dismissed by the wizard, shattered or dematerialized.

Dematerialize - Acquired at Novice. The wizard recalls their pact weapon into themselves. Many reavers brace themselves as the weapon instantaneously dematerializes in totality once recalled. They are then subject to the full force of the pain induced by the act. If able, most reavers meditate before recalling their pact weapons into themselves in order to mitigate the severity of the experience. As a result of this, most reavers build up extensive meditation skills and develop a high tolerance for pain. A pact weapon will dematerialize on its own if too far from the reaver.

Returning - Acquired at Novice. Pact weapons are continually tied to the wizard they are bonded to. By reaching out across this bond, the wizard can return their pact weapon to their side at will unless unable to do so. The pact weapon does not inherently possess the ability to pass through solid objects and thus it can be blocked from returning to the wizard’s side if summoned in this manner. It does not dematerialize and then rematerialize in the wizard’s hand unless they actively will it to do so. Dematerializing a pact weapon will induce its effects on the reaver, always.

Projection - Acquired at Apprentice. Projection is a means by which the reaver can channel their awareness through their pact weapon. It becomes a proxy for their sight and hearing though they are only capable of perceiving up to a limited range. The pact weapon must be placed wherever they are attempting to project their awareness. While projecting, the wizard is blind and deaf to their immediate surroundings until such time as they cease projecting.

Sanctuary - Acquired at Apprentice. An evolution of dematerializing but one that requires a specific set of circumstances, the power of sanctuary was developed to lessen the effects of dematerialization with pact weapons. The reaver initiates this by stirring their aether into motion and slowly opening up themselves to recalling their pact weapon into themselves. In order to mitigate the experiences written upon the aether of the blade and thus reduce the amount of pain one feels upon recalling it, the reaver must give the weapon new experiences. This is achieved by entering a slow, meditative series of steps with their weapon. The sanctuary lasts as long as the wizard has the strength to sustain it but must be undertaken for double the length of time of the fight in which the pact weapon was used. It is a strong tool but one that must be balanced with the mage’s own fatigue and overall wellbeing. There is a time and place for this technique and in the heat of battle is not one of them.

Varnish - Acquired at Apprentice. The ability through which a reaver can channel other forms of personal magic through their pact weapon. The reaver must be touching their pact weapon in order to first bestow a varnished ability upon it. Channeling the power of the Rune of Reaving, the reaver partially dematerializes the pact weapon. They then subject the pact weapon to the magical effect they wish to varnish it with. The aether of the weapon will retain this arcane form of programming and will then be able to reproduce that specific ability until it is fully dematerialized. The varnish will only allow the weapon to manifest the specific ability it is varnished with. The properties of dragonshards can be applied in this same manner. All varnishes will dissipate once the weapon is next dematerialized and must then be reapplied upon being materialized again. Activating a pact weapon’s varnished ability is the same as using the ability oneself in terms of aether expenditure.

Morphosis - Acquired at Apprentice. A Reaver's relationship over the weapons with which they form a Pact is a unique thing. Nothing quite displays this uniqueness than the ability of Morphosis. Through Morphosis, the reaver can alter the physical structure of the weaponry they have formed a Pact with. The reaver partially dematerializes their pact weapon and morphs its physical form into the shape desired. The caveat to this is that it must be of the same family of weaponry and it must be a weapon that the reaver has knowledge of in terms of use. For instance, a reaver can take a basic longsword and introduce a serrated edge to the blade provided they have used or studied a longsword with a serrated edge. This ability, above all, is a key reason why reavers tend to be so diverse in their knowledge of weaponry and fighting styles.

Transmute - Acquired at Journeyman. Through Transmute, the Reaver can alter the composition of the weaponry they have formed a Pact with. This is done by meditating over the desired pact weapon and partially dematerializing it. The reaver then takes the material they wish weave into the makeup of their pact weapon and carefully begins to channel it into their weapon. When done successfully, the chosen material will become part of that specific pact weapon and the reaver will be able to transmute their pact weapon into that material at will. At more advanced stages, the reaver can even blend together the properties of different materials they have integrated into the makeup of their pact weaponry. For instance, giving a sword the appearance of wood while retaining the sharpness and sturdiness of steel.

Duplicity - Acquired at Journeyman. The power to create duplicate copies of their pact weapon is an iconic ability among reavers. The mage must be physically touching their pact weapon. They then extend their aether and use it to replicate a copy of the pact weapon. Duplicated pact weapons always manifest as mundane weaponry and behave as such. They are not the original pact weapon and thus lack any of its inherent abilities and strengths, they are merely copies. As they are not the original pact weapon, dematerializing a duplicate is akin to simply dismissing an aether construct.

Dancing - Acquired at Journeyman. A reaver and their pact weapon are as one, nothing displays this more than the ability to Dance with those pact weapons. As previously mentioned, a bridge exists between the reaver and their pact weapons at all times while it is materialized. By extending their power and awareness into this bridge, the reaver can manipulate their pact weapons remotely. Dancing requires extensive amounts of practice and training to truly master and the further the weapon is from the reaver, the more draining it is to Dance with.

Rebuke - Acquired at Expert. The power of Rebuke is a passive ability with great impact to the Reaver. It is less of a power and more a result of the reaver’s bond with their pact weaponry. The reaver’s pact weapons have been doused within the aether of the wizard’s soul, housed within the essence of their very being. As a result, some level of rudimentary sentience has bled off into the pact weaponry at a reaver’s disposal. The power of Rebuke manifests as the pact weapon actively working to protect and defend the reaver. Each instance of this manifestation counts as casting a spell or using an ability and thus is draining upon the reaver. However, a pact weapon that enacts Rebuke may very well save a reaver’s life. Through this ability, the pact weapon may move itself into the path of an oncoming blade, it may deflect an arrow that might have been lethal, or it may even activate a varnished ability that it has been imbued with. In any instance, the Rebuke works toward protecting the mage from harm. A Rebuke is a single, immediate, life saving action that once performed, is finished, with its purpose having been served.

In order for Rebuke to take effect, the pact weapon must already be physically materialized. A pact weapon will not materialize as a result of this ability. It must be within the wizard’s immediate vicinity where the action provoking the Rebuke takes place. In order to activate a varnished ability, that ability must have already been applied to it. In the case of a soul cairn artefact, the soul within the pact weapon can even go so far as to Dance in defense of the mage.

Arsenal - Acquired at Master. A Reaver's "Arsenal" is the manifestation of their Pact weapons - all at their disposal - only to duplicate them en masse, creating at first tens, then hundreds of these fabricated weapons typically overhead and beside themselves to be launched at a foe. Arsenal is often an ability that moves in a straight line, launching these weapons at a high velocity within the designated radius. Its area of effect, however, is versatile; it can be conal, can follow multiple straight lines, and can even launch in odd formations such as variating crescent shapes. The weapons of the Arsenal can be guided to briefly follow after individual or multiple targets, making evasion and defense more difficult. Arsenal's weapons fade a few seconds after impact is made, though the ten original pact weapons may return to the Reaver's side, allowing for a smooth transition into the next ability.

Myriad - Acquired at Master. Myriad is among the Reaver's most powerful tools - all ten of their Pact Weapons will circle around them in powerful aethereal form and can be transitioned to instantly, dematerializing and rematerializing in fractions of a second. The Reaver can therefore exchange the weapon they are wielding and utilizing fluidly. They can even switch mid-motion, as well as dual wield these weapons if they desire. Thrown weapons will immediately return when willed to, and the Pact Weapons surrounding them can even be made to violently dance around them, placing vast pressure on any nearby foes. There are effectively two versions of Myriad, and each has their own associated costs. The Myriad in which all ten Pact Weapons are persistently dancing, chasing after foes and attacking in formation is certainly far more powerful, but expends considerable aether and over-use can quickly lead to overstepping. The Myriad that allows for constant weapon-swapping, more commonly utilized by master Reavers, can be sustained for much longer periods of time and tends to be a part of a master Reaver's general arsenal of abilities.

Flow of Battle -Apprentice

As a Reaver taught in the ways of war, Rickter's learned how to anticipate his opponents head-on. As a result of this Flow of Battle manifests within his Pact Weaponry, Rickter picks up the muscle contractions of his opponent, and from that kinesthetic movement gains insight into the intended directional trajectory. The only trigger for this instance to occur is when a Pact weapon of his makes contact with the enemy, be it landing a strike or blocking one in turn, which results in the weapon itself nudging his grasp to react to the intent of his opponent. Though it is not always accurate or on point, Rickter's Pact weaponry can essentially guide him to victory, that is if he can interpret the hints his weapons give him both swiftly and accordingly.

Structure - An aura will reveal to the observer the physical structure of something. In this way, a wizard can use it as a means of sensing the presence of other people or objects around them. However, their sight only extends so far. Clothing is easy to bypass, walls are more of a challenge.

Physical Properties - By far the most straightforward of all aspects that can be gleaned from an aura are physical properties. Semblance allows the wizard to use their aether as a proxy for their senses. Taste, touch, smell, sight, sound are all possible avenues of study through the use of semblance.

Emotions - Recognizing that emotions are present is one thing, identifying the nuance of more subtle emotions is something that requires time, focus and skill. Emotions that are strongly felt are very easy to identify as they present themselves at the forefront of a person’s aura. The more nuanced emotions tend to be more difficult to interpret and are easily concealed.

Echo - Auras leave imprints upon the world around them. Semblance users can study these imprints to varying degrees of proficiency. A beginner might be able to recognize that a person just recently had a cup of tea with breakfast as the imprint is very recent. The flavor, smell and warmth of it might still cling to the individual who drank it. A master could stand in a house that had at one point completely burned down but had been rebuilt. They would be able to pick up on the echo of the fire’s heat, the smell of the smoke, perhaps even the emotions of people who were either trapped or present inside the building as it burned.

Magic - Semblance users are able to study and observe the aether of that which they come into contact with on a very deep level. The longer they have to study something, the deeper they can delve into studying its aura and aether. In this way they can discern magical properties of that which is brought to their attention. The more complex and powerful the magic, the longer it takes to glean the details of it.

Alteration - A semblance user has the power to mask or alter their own aura as it is perceived by others. This is a useful ability that can be used to fool others and mask their intentions or things about themselves as would be present in an aura.

Focus - An aura can reveal what a living creature is focus on. Where their attention is directed can be revealed with careful study. A powerful wizard can follow this focus and even predict where it might shift.
