The Orkhan swordswoman listened to Carina's explanation with no little disappointment. Still, it was no real problem. If she couldn't see the Kathar as they trained, she'd have an opportunity to test them when they inevitably came after Carina.

"Getting back into my body..."

It was a curious thought. Now that she had Carina to focus on, the chaos of the infinite astral realm had ceased to bother Imogen, and the idea of going back to her body seemed... almost quaint. This, after all, was the truest expression of self, unbound from the mundane chains of nature. No need to eat, to sleep, to suffer or die. Why not skip the whole tedious pablum of life and just spiral off into the world beyond? Just let go and embrace infinity, give up the pretense of control entirely.

Well, for one thing, it would be seriously unprofessional. She had contracts to finish out, and not one of them was going to be possible if she was an aimless wisp on the wind.

"...right, of course. Let's go back."

Getting back to the sealed mausoleum was a lot less terror-inducing than leaving it had been. The Ork kept herself fixated on Carina's hand; though her astral body had no nerves, she was certain she could feel the other girl's spirit rubbing hers. It was, perhaps, the most primal of all recognitions, that someone else existed in the whole of eternity.

Imogen pushed those poetic (and lusty) thoughts aside as she approached her prone form. In theory, she supposed, rejoining of the body and soul ought to be pretty easy. One was made for the other, was it not? She wondered if it was possible to screw up the process, though. Could you imbue the wrong parts of your body with the wrong portions of your soul?

...no, this wasn't a good time to explore that line of thought. Possibly there wasn't a good time, actually.

The witch lay down, letting her spirit soak into her flesh. She'd expected the one to absorb the other like a sponge soaked up water, but she experienced the rejoining more like the blurring of worlds, like a delayed waking from sleep. Everything seemed to swim around her, the Veil slowly reasserting itself to cover up the infinity beyond as though it were an unseemly portrait at a gallery being covered by a curtain. She blinked several times, and by the end realized that she was blinking her own eyelids, which felt heavier than iron weights. Actually, her entire body felt like that. She moved her limbs, and found them numb, wracked with the pins-and-needles sensation of a foot falling asleep.

"Ungh." she complained to Carina, doing her level best not to thrash too much and roll off the table. "Uggh, that's miserable." The Ork summoned up the strength to lift her head and look around for Carina, wincing and closing her eyes as blood rushed from her brain.

But when Imogen opened her eyes again, she found that the entire world was inside the tomb with her.

Carina watched as Imogen rejoined herself, and stayed in the astral for just a second longer until she saw the Orkhan physically stir. She too slipped into her body, waking up in much the same manner as Imogen, groggy and numb. It did not seem to be a sensation that went away, but she felt back to normal much quicker than Imogen did. She quickly stood up, stretched her arms above her as if she were reaching for the sun, and slowly brought them back down again.

"Always good to stretch when you've been meddling with space." She asserted. "Up, up, up. Stand up when you can. Get used to being dizzy." And as soon as Imogen was up, Carina scurried behind her and lifted up the back of her shirt to see the new traversion rune in place, tracing the lines with a fingertip.

"Now you're a real coven witch," she proclaimed, but Imogen had far more raw skill in magic than Carina had yet. Knowing her, she'd be vaulting across the world in a smattering of seasons. She was more afraid of overstepping, and that caution kept her from pushing her limits and strength in some ways. But she was adept enough, though Imogen wouldn't be able to give her Reaving in return, as she had almost no skill in most any weapon.

She tended to rely on Imogen for that, but without the structure of the covens here, Imogen was free to leave and do as she pleased, and it was not a friendly city for an Orkhan. Carina found it comfortable, though, and it was to her liking to stay and feel it out. Plus, if she needed to fight someone, that meant she had done something wrong in the planning stage, and she wouldn't let that happen. She put her shirt back into place.

"How do you feel now?"

Imogen did as she was bade, rolling to her feet off the stone and slowly lifting herself to a seated position. Once the world calmed a bit, she tried standing; it wasn't too difficult, though her knees did buckle more than a little.

"Dizzy," Imogen admitted to Carina, as the other girl lowered her shirt, "And tired, too, and there's a feeling in the back of my head like the world's gone strange. But exhilarated in spirit, too."

The Ork had taken new runes thrice now, and was too canny to try anything stupid like activating it just yet. That would be a one-way ticket to vomit-ville. Instead, she shifted, leaning against Carina where she stood, and grinned.

"Lipstick, huh? A lot nicer than when Master shoved a brand into my breast, to be sure. You'd better be careful if you ever ask me for a Rune, Carina, I'll think of something even better to draw it with."

Imogen tried to move away and take a step through the door, but she stumbled, just catching herself on the stone table she'd been lying on a moment prior. She shook her head, trying to clear it of fuzz, and sighed. With a gesture, she materialized her Pact staff in her right hand, leaning noticeably on it to pull herself up. "That really is going to take some getting used to. Maybe you'd better tie me to the bed tonight so I don't float away. Ugh. Come on, let's get outta this creepy place."

The Ork started for the door, then hesitated, and turned back. "Actually," she said, "it's kind of beautiful in here right now. Thanks."
