☬ With the Estate clear, he could finally go and retrieve Victor and the refugee group. He truly began to regret this course of action, but he knew he would have no other choice. He made his way to the rendezvous point where Victor waited for him. When he gave them the clear that the estate was safe he waited for them to get prepared to move. Not surprising that Victor was as efficient as he was, being a former general, the group was ready to move within the next few moments.
it was early afternoon, but Dreyfus could hear the group of feeble mortals gasp and clammer amongst themselves as the Beomir Manor came into view. Sighs of relief, tears of joy, and more importantly praise to Dreyfus could be heard by the vampyre as they approached the main house. "I didn't think it was this huge, it's been years since I've been here." Victor mumbled as he kept his eyes peeled for signs of trouble.
"We will have to fix some portions of the manor but it's better than some run-down building exposed to the mistspawn and bandits. At least here we are far removed and can see any enemy coming from miles away." he mentioned, going to sit on the steps as he watched the mortals skitter about. As they entered the manor, Dreyfus was given thanks and praise for his help, and for healing their wounded and their sick. He nodded and simply waited for them all to enter, Victor coming to rest next to him as Donivan helped the others get settled.
"So what happens now?" the vampyre mused as he looked out into the courtyard. It was a sad comparison to what it used to be like, the vampyre remembering coming and going, when Thysbae had arrived, and all the times he and his cousin would play out there. "Well for starters these people are cold and hungry, so finding a way to keep them warm and their bellies full would be a good start." the veteran replied, looking out to the forests that lined the border of the Monteliyet estate.
"Then it appears I will need to go hunting." he chuckled, standing to his feet as he handed his weapons to the veteran soldier. "Dont you think you need these to kill whatever it is you are planning to hunt?" he shouted as Dreyfus was moving further away. The vampyre simply shook his head no, and continued on. He remembered his grandfather speaking of a large territory of Rotmane Wolves within the forests to the east of the estate. He would start there and kill the wolves that still remained.
It wasn't much, but it would be something to help keep their bellies full. To cover more ground, he tapped into the flux and pushed himself forward trying his best to remember exactly where the beginning of their territory was. It wasn't too far now that he thought about it, as it was deep within the forest heading towards the mountains. Once there, he landed and took a moment to take in the area, feeling the disturbances within the flux, it seemed he had their attention. He decided to venture deeper into their territory and wait for them to make a move.
In the meantime, he pondered the many things he would need in order the estate back into place and into livable conditions. All this wood would be useful for repairs. They would need metals to help fortify defenses. More food once the meat from the wolves ran out. This was starting to look like more work than it was worth, but it was too late now and he was already engraved within the hearts and minds of the mortals who now occupied his home for safety.
Lost in his own thoughts his attention quickly snapped back to the task at hand, as there were several more flux signatures now. The wolves had been stalking Dreyfus for some time now and were getting anxious to sink their teeth into the vampyre. He soon came to a stop, his predatorial senses kicking in as he began to manipulate the flux around him within a twenty-foot radius.
His hands reached out as he awaited for them to make the first move, and when they did, he put his plan in motion. Within that twenty-foot radius, he Decelerated the flux within it, which would cause the wolves to rapidly slow down around them. Poor things, they had no idea what they were walking into, but like humans, they never did. Like he had anticipated the wolves indeed slowed and as they came at him in their slowed pace, Dreyfus decided to dispatch them as quickly as possible. He watched as the wolves slowly came to a halt, floating mid-air.
Taking a deep breath he concentrated all of the flux around him and concentrated it all around him. The space around him, the air and ground both rumbling from the building pressure, began to crack beneath his feet. He opened his eyes and unleashed a full force of telekinetic force with him being the epicenter.
The force rippled out from and through the wolves that had been caught in his Decelerated field of flux. You could hear the bones of the wolves shattering from the immense force. Releasing the field the bodies of the wolves thudded as they hit the floor. "One, two, three, four...." he counted aloud, picking up each wolf. He knew he would have to haul them all back to the estate so he decided to split his haul up in sets of four.
All together he had at least 8 wolves so if they stretched it, it could last them a week or so. He was interrupted by the sound of a loud and deep growl, turning to find a larger Rotmähne Wolf. "You must be the alpha." Crimson eyes observed as more of them seemed to line the ledge the alpha had been perched on. Giving another howl, the wolves came pouring over the ledge and racing toward him. He could see that they would overwhelm him even with his power.
With his arms outstretched he gathered as much of the flux that would handle, all the flux he could hold before he sent out a vibration of telekinetic force rippling out across the forest. The forest floor and trees crumbled and toppled over themselves as the force crushed the wolves. The bodies of the wolf stampede littered the area, dust and debris still permeating the area. That being said, Dreyfus's crimson eyes were met by the scarlet eyes of the Rotmähne Alpha. It was far bigger and more muscular than the others.
He knew this wouldn't be over till that one was dead, and had he left this one alive it would only cause problems for him later. It was best to nip this in the bud now. The Alpha wasted no time traversing the broken battlefield as it came barrelling at Dreyfus. It's maw wide open, it sped around to the left of the vampyre to bite at Dreyfus's neck but was pushed back by telekinetic force. It didn't phase the beast, however, as it returned with a vicious tenacity. It leaped into the air, pouncing onto Dreyfus and pinning him to the forest floor.
Rearing its head back it went to maul his face off but found it couldn't move. For a moment, Dreyfus had seized control of its bodily functions with Vitalis. He stared at it, looking it in his eyes before putting a finger upon its neck. "Bang." By puncturing his palm, he crystalized a blood shard spike and jutted it right through its skull. Its blood poured onto him, some of it getting in his mouth. He could see the corruption of the land in the year he had been gone through its eyes.
It was an interesting thing to witness but once he had finished walking the wolf's memories he pushed the beast from on top of him. Looking at the carnage he had wrought, he sighed. It would be a long road ahead for him, as he would need to get many things done if they were to survive out here. Getting to his feet, Dreyfus gathered every wolf corpse he could find. When it was all said and done there were about twenty-five wolves he had in all.
It was sunset by the time he returned to the manor, a mass of dead wolves above him as he carried them all within a bubble made of blood. Dispersing it sat them in the courtyard, taking the alpha as his own, he intended to use it to make a totem. "They should be fed with these, lets hope this lasts till we can get a more stable supply." he noted to Victor and Donivan as he went inside. ☬
