His life started as Endrik, a Kathar born and raised in Gel’Grandal. He was an excellent soldier, a bright star amongst his comrades. He would have spent his whole life happily serving the Emperor his whole life before an incident changed everything. Forced to kill his closest friends, the avialae started to question everything he knew. Unable to live the thought of being bound to such a life, he begged the skies to release him from his chains. Myshala came to him that night and offered him a deal. His fate was always to be bound, so if he escaped his invisible chains now, it would come back to him in the future or perhaps in death - and he would not be the only one to pay the price. Desperate for an out, he agreed and just like that, his collar broke. Endrik left the Imperium and never looked back.
During his travels, he encountered a dawnmartyr who sacrificed his life to save him. To honor him, the avialae went to find the Order and adopted the man’s name. Once he joined, it was clear from the start that Endrik Shiryo was an exceptional warrior, even among the dawnmartyrs. As cruel as it was, his training as Kathar gave him an edge over his peers. He would have shone brightly as a warforged, but much to everyone’s surprise, the avialae chose to become a spellforged. He had always been fascinated with magic and to be frank, he had never been allowed the chance to learn about it. Now that he was free, knowledge was what he truly wanted to pursue.
The avialae first met Laveriel while she was only an aspirant. She was struggling and he could tell combat did not come naturally to her. Still, impressed by her stubbornness and will to fight, he found himself offering to train her. Once she officially joined the order, Ryo recruited her into his team and their relationship grew. Despite the palpable tension between them, neither of them dared to make a move and risk jeopardizing their friendship for years. It was only after a particular mission that they were forced to confront their feelings for each other and come together. Two years after they first started their relationship, a core bond was formed between them and they became even more inseparable.
A century went by and the world seemed to stabilize. They both started considering the idea of retiring. It was time that they lived a life outside the dawnmartyrs - perhaps even built a family where it was safe. Ryo had always wanted to go Kalzasi, where the Synnekars lived. All he needed to do was finish up his last research and then they could leave.
They never had the chance. The Imperium came to attack them and Ailos was besieged. By some miracle, Ryo and Laveriel managed to survive for those three years. Things started going wrong when the Grand Marshal was slain by a mysterious Kathar who seemed to wield unnatural powers. With their leader gone, Knight-Marshal Neverfall became the commanding and hatched a new plan. Laveriel and a select group of dawnmartyrs would head to the North with Novuril, while Ryo would stay in Ailos and help reinforce their wards. Laveriel was vehemently against the plan, but he had calmed her down and reassured her that it would be fine. That he would find her as soon as he could.
Unfortunately, the world had other ideas. The plan fell apart when the dark-winged Kathar took down Neverfall and began heading towards Laveriel’s group. Ryo did not even think twice before putting himself between them. It didn’t take him long to realize that something was wrong and that he would not win. Something was interfering with his magic and even his bond with Laveriel. He was cut down that day, hearing his bondmate screaming as the darkness took him.
