First, some context provided and clarity sought.

The Context: Norani self discovered the ability to create Cloudstones in this thread here https://www.legendofransera.com/viewtop ... 986#p29986 She was able to do this because she has the ability to make some dragonshards (an extension of her first ability to make Stormgems instead of lodestones) and she could make Cloud variants because she is Arched in Wind and Water.

The Clarity Sought: As this doesn't yet exist in the wiki, I would like some questions answered, largely for flavor and for some potential fun. With Norani being Master+ Elementalist atm (Master of Second Order), I assume many of the things she's capable of are incredibly rare since mages of this magnitude are rare.

1. Did Norani invent or reinvent this Cloudstone? In that it has not existed prior, or it existed in the days of old but the ability to make them was lost.

2. Did Norani discover or rediscover this Cloudstone? Is this a naturally occurring dragonshard or does it only exist when created?

3. If Norani did, in fact, invent or discover the Cloudstone, would it be possible to seed it into the world through some plots so that it can begin occurring naturally?

I'm happy to go with whatever direction you feel is best on this, though I will say, the idea of players being able to invent IC the dragonshards not currently in the wiki writeup is super fun. I think that it being something that is either entirely new or something that was lost for ages and being rediscovered provides a lot of potential for mages of all types to really stand out in the modern age.

The Article (some of which will be pending the above answers)

Nimbulyth

Nickname: Cloudstone

Commonality: Extremely Rare

Properties: Cloud Seeding, Vapor control, aerial flotation properties.

Description:
Version 1: On Glade 8, 123, Norani Windwalker reinvented the Cloudstone (thread found here https://www.legendofransera.com/viewtopic.php?t=4872 ). This Dragonshard is believed to have existed prior to the Sundering but has not been seen ever since. This dragonshard can be used to seed rainclouds by placing it in the sky. It will stay there, producing its own cloud vapor until a raincloud is formed. Once it has rained, the seeded dragonshard will reset and start again. Additionally, this dragonshard can be tasked to absorb vapors from the surrounding environment. Finally, it can provide aerial flotation properties to other substances, to allow them to float in the air like clouds.

Version 2: The Cloudstone can be found naturally in the heart of the largest and darkest rain clouds. Removing them, however, causes the entire cloud to turn to liquid water and drop all at once, making it rather difficult to retrieve.

For keeping things above board, I'm now reviewing this in my role as Regional Author, which I did not have at the time I initially submitted.

1 / 2 I'm choosing to go with this is a reinvention / rediscovering of a dragonshard that existed naturally in the world prior to the Sundering, and was a known quantity to the various empires prior to that as well. However, after the Sundering it seemed to have disappeared from natural occurrence in the wild. My primary reason for this is to set the basis for all future dragonshard development projects. From this point forward, any dragonshards that could exist but are not presently existing within the wiki will follow the above logic (or of something similar) so that PCs can discover / rediscover or invent / reinvent them.

3. Yes, a process through which must be discovered in character, and can be applied to other dragonshard types on a plot by plot basis as needed.

As such, I approve the 1st description of the dragonshard and will add it to the wiki shortly
