☠ Nan Hune'uvi ☠
Habitat:
  • These pack hunters roam the forests and dense jungles of the Ecithian Commonwealth and Southern Ecith.
Rarity: Common
Threat: moderate to high

Description:
  • The Nan Hune'uvi{Man Hunters} are known to be volatile and extremely territorial, borderline feral but retain some sliver of intelligence. They can be ultra-aggressive creatures that one will rarely survive if attacked in packs.
Diet:
  • Nan Hune'uvi are omniivores that primarily eat meat, with more than 85% of their diet comprising meat. Their main prey are moderate sized mammals that roam the Ecithian jungles and forests, as well as ill prepared travelers. They will also resort to eating smaller mammals when their typical food source is scarce, and they are not above scavaging for food. The Nan Hune'uvi are also known to ambush larger predators in order to steal their kills. The 15% of their diet that doesn't consist of meat goes to fruits, specifically Mangos and Peaches as their body cant process any other form of sugar except that of these fruits.

    Aging & Reproduction:
    • The Nan Hune'uvi have been observed to be polygamous and breed year-round. A female Nan Hune'uvi has a litter about every two years and their period of pregnancy ranges from 105 - 112 days. Litters are usually 3 to 5 babies, and are roughly about 5 pounds at birth. The newborns follow and cling to the female for about 120 days to learn how to hunt and sustain themselves.
    Size:
    • Height: 7ft
    • Width: of an average ork
    • Weight: 180lbs
    Abilities and Features:
    • Superb Jumping: These beasts can jump farther than the average bipedal predator of the Ecitian ecosystem. They can leap farther than normal humans. Impressive feats they are known for are being able to jump over large barricades, clear big holes in the ground, and jump from tree to tree with ease.
    • Fast Attacks: It is well known for its extreme bursts of speed through its jumping. The speed of their jumps is so great that they appear to be teleporting across the trees leaving only hairs and a cloud of dust from its starting point.
    • Natural Weaponry: They heavily rely on their blade-like claws in battle, with their punches oftentimes inflicting grave lacerations and stab wounds onto hunters & prey.
    Recommended Stats:
    • Journeyman to expert combative skills/magics
    • Expert or Higher Tactics

Hi there,

Thank you for your submission!

Have you discussed these with Aegis previously? I do have some concerns about their fitting into established fauna.

That aside...

"Nan Hune'uvi are carnivores that primarily eat meat, with more than 85% of their diet consisting of meat."

Do you mean that they are omnivores that primarily eat meat? Since carnivore would indicate meat-only diets.

Under "Superb Jumping", you have "These beasts can jump farther than average members of their species."... Can you please clarify this? If the Nan Hune'uvi is a species unto itself...?

Further, if these are moderate to high threat, then I would expect the skill requirements for interacting with them without certain death to be much higher.

Thanks for taking the time to look this over.

I took your notes into consideration and made the necessary adjustments.

Hope they are correct and let me know what needs to be added/struck out.

I've reached out to Aegis to see if I can see where he stands on these.

I do have another question - do they have any known predators? What keeps their numbers relatively in line? Since the way they are made it seems like they might well overrun a stretch of the ecosystem otherwise, considering their reproduction rate and abilities.

  • I would assume anything bigger and stronger than themselves would be considered a predator to these creatures. The Ecithian ecosystem from my understanding is geared towards a "Kill or be killed" type of food chain. I also don't think there are many known fauna developed at the moment for ecith to declare a specific predator. Other than the large beasties out there in the jungle, I would say that the Commonwealth probably has a group of hunters/fighters that help keep these nasty brutes in check, I am assuming though so there is no way to be for certain without Aegis's input.

So, I haven't heard from Aegis yet, and I messaged him two weeks ago regarding these critters.

I just don't feel that these fit the setting very well, but tentatively approved for the time being. If he does eventually answer and it is to the contrary, then they will need to be reworked.
