☠ Teloc Ozongo, Judge of the Wicked ☠

  • Sphere: Infernal
    Current Level: Lesser - Greater
Length of Contract: Permanent - Aidolon

    Temperament:
Teloc's demeanor is that of a guardian, seeing its summoner as the heir to its power, and thus must be protected at all cost. It is noted that Teloc often possesses extremely low tolerance for impoliteness to it or its summoner, as it almost immediately will try to attack the offenders, less calmed down by its bound summoner. As its summoner progresses in proficiency in the magic, Teloc becomes more menacing, taking on the character traits of a judge that punishes and torments the wicked.

Once fully evolved at the master level, Teloc is of a stoic nature and will spare nothing that stands in the way of it or its summoner, withering those foolish to cross it till nothing remains but bone and ash. With its command over bone, withering fog, and demonic wind Teloc Avavago asserts its dominance upon the living world.

☠ Apprentice
Description:
  • Teloc first appears as a floating wraith. Teloc's form is from the navel up and is about 4ft in height. Covered in tattered rags there is no face to see and the most noticeable feature about the spirit is the eerie green glow surrounding its hands. At this stage I would say he doesn't move all to fast, as it floats and hovers near Lae at all times, probably as fast as it takes for a balloon to catch up to who has been moving with it.

Power{s}
  • Spector Blast: Teloc extends its hands upwards, conjures a ball of demonic energy, and then lobs it at its target. As it flies to its target it leaves a spectral trail while wailing every ten minutes. The blast impact is comparable to that of a concussive grenade.
  • Demonic Gust: Teloc uses its body as the epicenter, sending out a wave of demonic wind within a 30ft radius of itself. Those caught by this demonic wind are momentarily blown off their feet for a moment before it disperses{Can catch 2 targets in this at once.}

I'm starting the reply for this. However, I'm seeking some feedback from other members of staff on the requirements and limits of aidolons and abilities before I review this, so I have a better understanding of what is able to be approved or not. I will continue this as soon as I receive the necessary feedback.

okay lets go bit by bit.

The first thing that stands out as strange to me is that this Aidolon does not act as though it is growing through a progression in the relationship with Laebirius. Each stage is a massive overall shift in the appearance, temperament, and abilities of the Aidolon. This makes it, in my opinion, an overly complicated affair and clashes with the intent of the Aidolon, which is a being that grows alongside the Summoner. I'd recommend simplifying this entirely. Rather than a complete new ability set every time Laebirius levels up, I'd recommend starting with the 2 Abilities at apprentice, then leveling those abilities up while adding the new ability at each stage, finishing with 5 abilities at Master / Greater for me to review rather than 11 total abilities. That way thematically it remains consistent with the growth rather than being an entirely new spirit each time.

Hi there,

I've looked over this request as Aegis has been regretfully busy.

I noticed he asked you to put together all of the abilities you intended to give this aidolon so that it could be reviewed as a whole, but I am only seeing two?

There is also a lack of detail about how it grows over the levels that I believe was asked for as well.

Please touch base with us when the previously requested detail has been added. :)

Thank you,

Talisman

Thanks for taking the time to look this over,

Originally I had put all four stages of Teloc's growth/progression in this post, but given how much was in there and after talking with Aegis, I decided to just do it on a stage by stage basis for my aidolons instead of all at once.

I simplified my aidolon request and will add the new forms and abilities as he progresses with the magic.
I do apologize for the confusion.

Thank you.

Alright, so, having gone over this in depth, consulted some other staff members, and refreshed my knowledge of the Summoning discipline, I've got some questions that I would like to have more information on.

1. Is it spectral or is it demonic? Because ghosts and demons are two very different entities, and you mention "demonic spectral energy". Could you please clarify this?

2. Why do you think that an Infernal Demon would see a mortal summoner as heir to its powers? The lore states the following:
Infernal- Demons are a very real and present force in Ransera. They are often the servants of more malevolent powers such as a darkly aligned Dragon God or a Mistlord. In other circumstances they serve particularly powerful greater demons such as Kahl. One thing that unites demons however is their universal tendency to be entities of a dark disposition. While certainly capable of experiencing the same range of emotions and behaviors as mortals, they are creatures of a decidedly self-serving nature. Demons are happy to entertain bargains with mortals provided the price is right for their services.
Can you explain why precisely an Infernal would not be attempting to take over Laebirius at every feasible opportunity, considering the demands and expectations it would want for such contracts?

3. What is the speed at which it operates? How fast does it lob its blast?

4. I would recommend considering a limit, at this stage, to the number of targets it can strike in its demonic wind ability.

5. How often can it produce these attacks?

No problem, I will do my best to answer these to your satisfaction.
1. Is it spectral or is it demonic? Because ghosts and demons are two very different entities, and you mention "demonic spectral energy". Could you please clarify this?
  • They are indeed demonic but take on the appearance of ghosts/skeletons/undead things from the specific infernal realm they hail from. I can easily edit it so it says just "demonic energy"
2. Why do you think that an Infernal Demon would see a mortal summoner as heir to its powers? Can you explain why precisely an Infernal would not be attempting to take over Laebirius at every feasible opportunity, considering the demands and expectations it would want for such contracts?
  • Aidolons are unique spirits and the relationship between it and its summoner are different from normal interactions with other spirits. In this instance, because Teloc is bonded to Laebirius's soul it is only right that he sees the mage as one worthy to wield his power if the time comes for them ever to use the Revelation aidolon ability. The reason Teloc wouldn't continuously try and possess Laebirius is because it knows it doesn't have to, and that Laebirius will willingly come to allow the Revelation to happen if again the time comes to do so. The bond between them as they grow together in Summoning will play into that as well. In their case, Teloc replaces his former guardian who was murdered as Lae's confidant and the two have a sort of learning friendship as Laebirius gives Teloc insight into what being mortal is like and Teloc in turn is a stoic guide who gives Lae lessons in dealing with spirits and bargaining with demons.
This is possible as it's stated in the Lore of Summoning as well and doesn't specify that Infernal Aidolons have to stick to the specific nature of their sphere.

3. What is the speed at which it operates? How fast does it lob its blast?
  • At this stage I would say he doesn't move all to fast, as it floats and hovers near Lae at all times, probably as fast as it takes for a balloon to catch up to who has been moving with it. It takes roughly a minute to gather the energy and then another moment as hurl it at its target.
I would recommend considering a limit, at this stage, to the number of targets it can strike in its demonic wind ability.
  • I can limit to Teloc catch 2 people in its wind at this stage.
5. How often can it produce these attacks?
  • I would say a 5-10 minute interval between attacks if that's suitable.

Thank you for the definitive answers on speed and such - if you would like to edit that in and let me know when it is done, I will approve your aidolon.

I will add that if moderators feel Teloc is acting contrary to expectations for an infernal demon, they likely will commandeer him as an NPC to enforce appropriate behaviour.
