Pahoran Taselia Rayunia
. . . . . Knight of The Dawnmartyrs . . . . .

Frost 40

Pahoran glided over the forest below him enjoying the touch of the cold wind against his skin. There was something about flying that he couldn’t explain to others who couldn’t fly. Though he suspect that one of his sisters had a sense of that mystery which was why she was so envious of her brothers and there wings. For those who could fly he didn’t have to explain the joy. He saw it in their eyes if ever the subject came up. He know flew over the forest elevated high enough to be clear of any surprises by to so high that he stood out in stark contrast to the sky.

The air was more busy then those on the ground realized, partly because they just didn’t look up that much, something that Pah couldn’t blame them about. Up just wasn’t a natural position for creatures to be looking. Even in the air Pah wouldn’t say that he saw everything that flew over him even while in the air. From this height down was easier to look. It was while looking forward and down that he noticed smoke rising from the distances. Which seemed a bit weird. Looking forward he suspected wonder what was producing it. There was a road through the forest so there might be a homestead but the smoke seemed to big to be coming from a fire place. It also seemed a funny time of day for someone to have set up camp.

Pahoran set his wings into a glide hold as he adjusted to make sure he came down close to the spot but not tight on top of it. Her was the tricky part of flying over a forest. Finding a landing spot. Eventually he saw an opening and adjusted his flight and came down in a small clearing not to far from the spot he wanted to go to. He moved carefully through the woods between himself and the spot of the smoke. He moved as quietly as his booted feet would let him. He was begging to hear noises. The sounds of people crying and whimpering. Pahoran paused in the shadows of the trees to observe the situation and see what he could determine.

There had been a fight that was for sure. It was a camp site though not the kind that Pahoran particular liked. The first thing that came to his attention was large wagon in the middle of the camp. It had bars on either side and roof over it. Pahoran saw various individual inside looking dejected. The knight frowned well aware that such types of wagon often traveled the world. He felt a stirring in his heart that he wanted to fix this if he could.

Looking around he saw that there were a number of bodies around the camp site. They seemed to have been cluster on the opposite side of the camp. He could see three still left standing still talking. Pahoran listened as the fought but moved towards the wagon where people were locked up. He was fairly sure that this was a slavers wagon but he was also aware that it could be a prisoners wagon. As he approached and looked in there were about ten people in the wagon and based upon there clothing he guessed they were slaves not the prisoners. Their clothing seemed to support that as it was tagged version of th clothing they had been wearing when they were taken. Most of them appeared to be Hytori or humans but only two of them had even noticed him at this point. One of them said “Ugg. Another one.” In the cage it was hard to see them clearly but it appeared that the two looked fairly similar and appeared to be Hytori women.

“What happened here?” He asked quietly.

“Well I thought would be obvious.” One of the said with sarcasm in her voice. Pah blinked at her.

“Well my guess is your all being taken to be sold as slaves. Someone attacked the caravan, for what reason I don’t know. And there all that left.” He said quietly indicating to the men standing a bit away. The conversation drew other people’s attention. Unfortunately the sudden shifting and noises from the cage drew the three men’s attention.

“Who are you.” Shouted one of the men. Pah looked through the cage towards the other side where the men where staring at him. The men didn’t want to fight that was for sure and seemed to hope he would leave but Pah decided that these were slaves and he was going to do something about it. He moved with a steady pace as he walked around the wagon. His ice blue eyes growing even more icy. His gaze settle upon the three men.

“Release these people, they are slaves no more.” Pahoran said calmly. The two men looked at his in surprise and one of them looked fairly amused. Before them stood a young man who while in armor wasn’t obviously armed.

“I have lost to much. These slaves are going to pay for that.” Said the chubbiest of the three remaining guards. Pah pulled opened himself to his Kinetic aether sight to sense the movements in the ether. One of the guards pulled out his sword and in an effort to intimidate Pahoran tossed it from hand to hand. The young man had to keep from rolling his eyes but it worked for his benefit. He extended his aether into the flux and used it to PUSH the blade. The addition force caused it to fly way past the waiting hand and flying well out of the reach of the show off.

Pahoran then launched himself into the air and materialized his pack weapon. Originally a simple well made blade over the years it had begun to change to reflect his soul. The blade was a pristine white with veins of gold and silver. He didn’t really start flying he just used his own body power and his wings to launch him a bit farther forward and using his wings to control his decent he also brought his body weight down as he attacked the other armed guard. The man was surprised by Pahoran’s sudden actions. He brought his blade up in time but was forced to step back at the impact and the blade came down as Pahoran’s ice blue eyes stared at him and said. “Are you sure you want to fight me.” He said and then released the pressure enough to bring the blade out of the lock and swing it again. Pah hear the sound of the slaver scrambling away and the other man running after his weapon.

The man in front of him clearly had not had a good time of it. Pahoran was fresh to this battle and he was still recovering from the battle that had drawn Pah’s attention. The two clashes swords and the other man kept backing up until he tripped over something on the ground. Pahoran went to swing even as the man’s arms came up in surrender.

“I yield.” He said as his sword lay on the grown next to him.

“The get out of here.” Pah said and the man scrambled away, smartly leaving his blade where it was. Pah kept half and eye on him as he turned to face the other warrior. He had now retrieved his sword and was charging Pahoran. Pahoran flaired his wings as if preparing to take off like he did before and watched as the man stopped his charged and prepared for an arial attack like Pah’s previous attack. The young man though didn’t launch himself but leaped forward with his wings thrust back to avoid drag and thrust his blade forward into the exposed belly of the other man, even as he realized the bluff and tried to get his blade into position.
Pahoran looked into the face of the guard as the light fled from his eyes but didn’t focus on it as he to look at the merchant who was still there and making sure the fleeing guard was still doing that. The merchant had pulled out a dagger and was welling it badly in front of him. Pah walked over and extended his blade to its full length towards the man. “Keys.” He said.

“Are you going to kill me.” He said.

“Keys!”

The man still holding his knife grabbed the keys ring on his belt and tossed it at him. Pah walked forwards to where key chain had landed on the ground. The merchant backed to match Pah’s forwards movement. The ice blue eyes never took them selves off the scum of a person. He pull his blade back a bit and then motioned off to the side. The merchant took the que and moved towards one of the horses.

“On foot.”

The slaver gave him a withering look and then ran off in the same direction as the guard. Pah waiting and once he was sure it was clear pent down and picked up the keys and turn to release those in the wagon.
