There were some places where Lia was hesitant to take Kalor, but this was not one of them. Hilana had wanted to go out into the Sands of the Expanse under the glowing starlight and the pale moons, and just enjoy a night out there and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Her soul always felt better out here amongst the wilderness. There was a peace here that one couldn't find in the teaming masses of people, and even though she was as sociable as one could get, being out here was freedom. It was a balm, and she was happy to take Lia and Kalor out here where they could enjoy a fire and just relax. She knew that the spirit that her sister adored so much could likely use the opportunity to enjoy the flames, and Hilana had plans for a good-sized bonfire for them. And while he was definitely Lia's companion, she enjoyed his company quite a bit, too.
Hilana was almost always up before Lia was, and while Kalor usually stayed with her, any activity in the kitchen invited his company, and they could talk and Hilana could show him some cooking. He always helped with tea, the way Sivan had taught him, and he was learning more with her in there. He was curious, fascinating, and they kept him well-fed with plenty of pyrolyth. He would grow in time, but for now, he carried on in his body, though he had left it once to enjoy Hilana's oven when she was baking bread. She had definitely worried about him in there, but considering he had enjoyed the heat... Well, it wasn't anything that was going to harm him.
Lia spread the blanket out over the sand for them to sit on, and Hilana got to work on building the fire.
