She had gone out to see Finn after dinner for a bit of a sparring session with her falcata. Her friend was an accomplished swordsman, and he regularly trained with the best of the best in Solunarium, and while he wasn't a teacher in this regard, formal or otherwise, he could at least offer her some tips on her form. And it was good to seek out others and their opinions. The more teachers she had, the more she could pick up, and hopefully not exasperate any single one of them by coming to them fairly constantly. She didn't like intruding on the lives of her friends for matters like this, so if it wasn't constant, then so much the better. She likely could have asked Sentinel Ævril for some initiate or other that could use practice, and could with some of the Guard. Rickter and Telion were usually down if they weren't busy; there was a lot of playful teasing and banter, but Rickter did want her to learn, if only so that she could keep her shapely posterior safe from too much trouble when he wasn't around.
She couldn't practice her maces with other people - that had to be done with dummies and dirt. A dulled practice sword wouldn't break bones if it connected, after all. But swords and other weapons were not meant to be safe. They were weapons, and needed to be respected as such. Long after Finn had gone back home with some treats for himself and his husband, Hilana worked away under the starlight. It was cool enough with the sun down that she wasn't at all hot, and the manuevers she was doing kept her warm. It wasn't a matter of doing it until she got it right, it was, as always, a matter of doing it until she couldn't get it wrong.
