The Ties that Bind [Solo]

In which Hilana and Lia visit the family estate.

Hundreds of miles Northeast of Solunarium proper at the Vasta River Delta sits the only other major settlement in the kingdom: The port city of Tertium- so named because it is the third settlement to occupy this location. Originally founded as Vastium Orientem (East Vastium), the city has been razed to the ground twice, after being conquered by foreign powers and rebuilt to serve as a port of trade and a tether to the world without. As the once reclusive Solunarian government is beginning to make diplomatic inroads with many nations abroad, Tertium’s star is on the rise and many of Solunarium’s less fortunate are flocking to the city in search of new opportunities to prosper.

Bringing Lia back to Tertium, to her... well... their... father's home was complicated. While she could tweak her appearance enough - and did - so that it was simply maternal family resemblance, it still sometimes brought up questions with their aunt-stepmother. Here, Lia played her cousin, as she did regularly elsewhere, simply because the complication between what had gone on with the Void was not something Hilana wanted known, and did not want to start all kinds of nonsense with the family. It was just easier this way, and considering she lived with her in the Capital, it avoided other questions.

Lia enjoyed this sort of living. There was something to be said for having servii waiting on you, lounging and relaxing. Hilana wasn't used to it and didn't much care for it, but that had to do with her fierce independence and her radically different upbringing. Others liked to be served the food and didn't much care about how it was made, Hilana would be the one in the kitchen watching and making notes and talking to the cooks when they could spare the time to do so.

But what she did like was the carefully curated area that her father had built and arranged by means both mundane and magical where many exotic birds could perch and come down without making a mess upon the people who walked beneath the large native trees. Being out there in a hammock and watching and listening to the birds was a fun event for her, or as much as she could get one back then. Now that she could come and go, well... she wasn't caged anymore, not here.

Hilana took the opportunity to dive into the pool as Lia sat and enjoyed the sun - she had made the attire for both of them, and Hilana's was certainly more scandalous than her own, but she was bolder and she simply didn't care.
