Fawn's first experience witnessing a Rathari hadn't gone as planned. Not that there was a plan per say, but she'd heard of the countless races that flocked the city of Kalzasi from Marina. She'd called them terrifying, wonderful beings of all shapes and sizes and colors. Some even part of the royal family, while others stayed in the low city. Marina had made it fairly clear what she thought about Rathari, and how most people tended to share similar sentiments with 'mongrel types'. But for Fawn, it wasn't his race that had unnerved her. It was his reaction, his size, the way he clamped down on the strangers throat like a grape about to pop, and how on top of all of that his features had morphed without warning into something so strange she had wondered if she even saw correctly.

It had scare her out of her wits, but as she looked at the very human-like man now, who threw up just like any other human, who hunched over and heaved and spoke just like any other, her heartbeat slowed and her muscles relaxed. Scared or not, the man had protected her as best he thought he should even to the detriment of his own comfort. Though, she had one more guess as to why he may be afflicted with such sickness.

"Umm.. some animals can't digest chocolate. We had to be careful with the kids and stray dogs in town.. is that... are you a dog?" She asked, her clear, bell like voice carrying into the wind as she pulled her hands inside her cloak for warmth. As a gaggle of women passed by she stumbled briefly closer to Rickter and Telion, the smell of honey and grass carried with her as she tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. "You're welcome." Fawn smiled, sniffling as the cold air began to make her nose run.

As the pair spoke to one another she studied his features. Rough around the edges, with worry lines coating his brow and crows feet just beginning to emerge. It meant he didn't smile much, and had spent many years in toil. Clearly, this man wasn't one to fear, not after all that. She took one more step closer to the man and leaned forward so her face was nearly inches from his. Her bright eyes now a mix of blue and green pierces his, she studied his features, the dilation of his eyes, listened to his breathing, and after a few moments of that she leaned back on the balls of her feet and smiled. "You'll be okay. If it was the chocolate, you didn't have much of it. Just keep hydrated and if the nausea gets too horrid more ginger will do. But if your heartrate goes up go to the vet- I mean the doctor." Fawn giggled at her own slip up and sighed through her nose, finally able to relax after the shocking situation. "And it's probably best if you don't eat any more chocolate."

As Rickter finally leaned up, chewing on the ginger and offering his favor, she bowed her head graciously and looked at him with surprise. "I- you're welcome. But it really wasn't much." She sniffled once more, her ears and brows perking up at his offer. She brought two fingers to her mouth and blew, a loud whistle she'd used a thousand times on her farm echoing throughout the streets nearly louder than his had been, and winking as she ended it. "Like that?" The girl winked, knowing she needed ask anyways, and stuck her hand back under the comfortable warmth of her cloak. He was kind, and something in her chest suddenly fluttered. Something familiar. It was such a brief feeling, like catching the glimpse of a hummingbird fluttering past an open window in the Glade.

Telions voice pulled her from her thoughts, surprising her but drawing a welcoming smile upon her rosy cheeks. "That would be wonderful, I've a lot of shopping to do but I'll admit I don't know where much is yet. Though I'd hate to impose on your day. I know we just met."

Had they?

In lieu of Fawn reaching out to them with the expression of chocolate, Telion gave a mindful glance before curling a finger beneath her chin in consideration. "Huh, she's got a point." In realizing that fact she began to blush a little, looking at Rickter apologetically as he answered the question asked.

"Part... mutt, yeah." He admitted with a shrug in his shoulders with an indiscriminate expression, following with a slight elevation to his eyebrow in noticing Fawn's close approach. She was certainly a wary little thing he'd give her that, but at the same time, alone in a world, she had only started to grasp. The wolf couldn't imagine how difficult it must have been, only understanding his own burdens growing into the person he was today. Admittedly he'd started to feel intimidated by her when she approached him, his eyes partially diverted her gaze as there were moments when they did meet. He didn't feel uncomfortable, strangely, but the earthen honey scent that clung to her had accrued into his senses in such close proximity. It did feel strange to be this close to her, mostly because it was such close proximity he barely allowed. Only two others really knew the more personal side of the wolf, and even Telion was slowly becoming one he trusted deeply.

But to see the fiery-haired lass straighten back up and speak in that cheery tone, it was suddenly a moment that was similar to when Rickter glanced at Telion... and just vacantly smile. Noticing this herself the bard lightly grinned, before nodding in agreement to the assessment Fawn gave. "Quite the doctor you are! I'm impressed!" Regarding the suggestion of avoiding chocolate, the wolf nodded softly in agreement, while Telion leaned to look up into Rickter's eyes. "I'm sorry Ricky, I should've thought ahead with the cocoa."

"No worries," Rickter shook his head lightly in emphasis to the statement, "I count this as a learning experience for the both of us." The bard grinned to him then as he nodded to her in turn, before giving Fawn the idea to signal him, if she ever were to be in trouble with that stranger again. The wolf admittedly winced a bit at the pitch of her whistle, bearing a wide smirk to her when she winked and inquired over it. "Exactly like that." He assured her with a firm nod, admittedly feeling an odd sensation in the back of his mind after hearing it. He knew that with that incredible pitch she had, he'd be able to follow it so long as he were in the range of hearing. After Telion weighed in with her offer the wolf diverted his gaze between the two, the light grin still present on his face as he silently agreed with Telion as well.

"Oh, not at all! We were just taking a day to relax honestly, believe it or not, he's training to become a knight!" Telion heartily teased with a wink to the wolf, as Rickter dropped his shoulders with a smolder to the bard. "We've been so busy with practice, I had to beg him for a break. So this makes for a wonderful occasion." Telion added with a tilt of her head as she grinned to Fawn once more, before looking up to Rickter to see if he had anything to add.

"We can start with whatever you need most. You have a place in town already? Need anything for it?" The inquiries were of genuine curiosity as Rickter looked thoughtful then, contemplative on how 'new' of a start this woman really had going for her.

No, it had to be something else. They couldn't have met before, after all unless they had traveled through her town it would have been impossible. She pushed the thought to the back of her mind and looked back inside the building where many of the patrons who had previously gathered to watch the spectacle were now back to their own lives. She'd half expected them all to follow, but city folk were proving to be both more bold as well as more private than she'd thought.

But Rickter was different. Telion was different. While Telion was as bright as the sun, Rickter held a darkness to him that she recognized. It was the weight of promise, of safety, of protection and pride. It wasn't a glow but instead a smoke, like incense, that wafted from him in every movement he made. But when he had stood from the table, nearly attacked the man- it had become like magma. The aggression of protection had flowed through him unhindered in his convictions. She wondered if he knew it, if he knew how he looked in that moment. While in the moment she'd been surprised, even scared for a moment, any amount of fear she had had were her instincts picking up on the promise his fingers had made to the man in his grasp. And once she realized that he was simply protecting, even if she didn't understand why, the fear had faded to be replaced with gratuity.

She hummed briefly, looking between Telion and Rickter as they mused about the chocolate experience of hell. They were sweet, Telion would flush and Rickter would look at her the way she'd seen a childhood friend staring at her boyfriend during class. Like she'd been stealing glances at him for years, and even though he knew it, he acted like he didn't notice the way she'd studied his face like a map. Learning every curve, every gesture, every muscle twitch, every flick of a brow hair towards the sky. Fawn smiled, her eyes tender as she let the affection they had for each other pull a flush to her cheeks. There was always something magical about watching two people in love. The small things, the gestures, the kindness, the little glimmer in their eyes as they met and played a perfectly choreographed verbal dance with each other without so much as a days practice. It was just one of those meant to be, natural things, that kept Fawn believing in her own romantic future.

"Ye both make a cute couple, how long have ye been together?" Fawn asked, shuffling the bag on her shoulder and blowing hot air into the palm of her cold hands. Right, shopping.

"Aye, but I won't be there forever. I've got a temporary shed in the back of the Jade Dumpling near the west entrance. Fer now I just need some new clothes- gloves too. I'm wearin' the clothes I brought with me, after all." She tucked a straying curl behind her pinkened, frost-nipped ear and sniffled. Had her gloves not torn from the travel, ripping to pieces against the leather reins on the third day, she'd not have such trouble staying warm. But she wasn't upset about it. Instead the idea of new fashion excited her. New gloves. Not the ones made by her uncle from sheep wool, and not the one the leather ones that Mr. Kenzinbrach had made from cow hide to help with her fathers tooling and crafting, but real, fashionable gloves made by city folk!

Fawn was admittedly giddy as she pulled her hands back into her cloak and held onto the warmth there. "So, where's the best shops for frost dresses and gloves?"

Quite often would the pair do exactly as Fawn had observed, taking turns quietly gazing at each other when one just happened to avoid looking. Although their partnership had indeed had a trying start, Rickter and Telion's time together had blossomed into a rather unusual friendship. Yet in so many ways beautiful, for the wolf kept her safe and taken care of during their travels together, and of course the bard had been nothing but a supportive rock in the wolf's life recently.

So imagine when the two who couldn't see it for themselves, suddenly found that a total stranger could see it clear as day; what they clearly both thought between one another. The moment the statement had left Fawn's very lips was the moment they both looked at her, their eyes wide as Telion quickly flushed at the assumption the ginger clearly observed. "Together!?" The implication was clear and yet even so, the bard looked puzzled as she questioned the meaning... or perhaps intent. "We've uh...." Her eyes were still widened by the flushing of her cheeks, clearly caught off guard by what Fawn had implicated between the two of them.

Rickter of course looked from Fawn to Telion, admittedly puzzled as well as he quietly observed. Why was she so flustered? In a way it sparked a genuine sense of amusement within him, and for a moment he almost wanted to smile at her again, had he not realized that he essentially started to stare as a result. "Just over a season," he gently remarked which led her to raise an eyebrow at him, "we met at the beginning of Ash. Been uh..." Well shit, this just now got difficult all of a sudden. How did he define their friendship as of late? There wasn't a doubt in his mind that he cared about her, that he cherished and valued every moment spent together. But... never did it occur to him that he might...

"Comrades." Telion interjected thoughtfully then with a smile, seeing as how Rickter had started to flounder at the right moment. "Not in the way you're probably thinking, but still someone very important to me at least." Rickter's lips hung open until he heard those words, the corners nudging into another soft grin as Telion looked up at him. "A comrade is more than just a word because a comrade lives within your heart. Someone you can love and trust unconditionally." The bard then looked to Fawn thoughtfully, her smile now present as the wolf watched, admirably agreeing with every word that Telion had to say. "I know we just met but, someday, I feel like you and I can be comrades too. And I want you to feel like that you can rely on me, because one day I'll need you... and our trust in each other will see us through."

She expressed these words as if she were reciting them to Rickter, even though she'd focused on Fawn now and took her by the hand. "Whenever you're suffering, or whenever you feel sad. I'll be there to help make sure you remember, that you never have to face it alone." The bard then looked up to the sky above them next, her smile endearing as she finished the sentiment with a wider smile. "We have as many hopes and dreams as there are stars in the sky, and if we walk toward the future together; I'll know that we can reach them all someday."

"Damn right," the wolf agreed gently with a soft grin on his face, leading the bard to look back to him in turn, "we'll get there together." Instead of this he focused on Fawn once again, ready to answer her question when she made it clear what she needed most for now. "Veyl's Clothier's is where we ought to go then, they have all the practical clothing material you could need to deal with the Frost." He then looked to Telion once more before dipping his hands into his pockets, while the bard herself lightly chuckled before brushing the chill out of her covered forearms.

"What say we go there now, get ya started on settling in." He offered as he took a few steps in the general direction, ready to lead the ladies toward the place if they were both ready to head off.

Fawn's expression morphed from excited to amused, her lips curling into a knowing smirk as she nodded along with their admittedly, horribly fibbed story. Perhaps they didn't even know how they felt about one another. Part of her was reminded of two school kids flirting but refusing to admit their feelings for each other. But she wouldn't press, instead just shrugged with a grin.

"I see, well, ye coulda fooled me.~" They didn't, but they tried. Maybe even tried to fool themselves. Had she been like that with Marina? Blushed and turned away, unable to admit her feelings for the radiant woman with eyes of magic and a voice as enchanting as the midnight sky? No, as it had been Fawn remembered being the first to confess. Her affection slipping from lips as if she'd stumbled in a slippery river. The wind taken out of her when Marina placed her lips upon her own, and the entire world spinning around them. Her first kiss... she wondered what others would feel like.

But it was Telions hands taking hold of her own that sent the first rush of goosebumps across her flesh. Like tiny pricks of their own magic, followed by her promise, her voice. Fawn stared at her in a mixture of shock and gratitude. Her heart swelled. The poet in front of her spinning a commitment the likes of which Fawn only understood by the weight of her tone. It sunk into her heart like a stone then rose in her chest like butterflies exploding in a cluster of shimmering colors.

When she was done Fawn simply stared back, silent for a moment as a few small tears slipped from her eyes. "I... thank you." She blinked them away, clasping her hand over Telions. With a tender smile she brought the hands to her lips and gave a soft kiss to the woman's knuckles. "I will do what I can to be someone who can be relied upon, too." Her gaze then shifted to Rickter, and with a light flush on her cheeks lingering from Telion's promise, grasped his hand as well. "I may not be a strong lass yet, but I'll find someone to teach me magic. And then I will be. From the marrow in me bones, I promise." Fawn brought his hand to her lips as well and sealed her promise into his skin with a gentle brush of her lips against knuckle once more.

It had been her peoples way. A promise made upon knuckles is one made between friends, loved ones, family, comrades- those who you vow to never lie to, cheat, or steal from. To die next to. There was something stirring in her chest that she couldn't place and it reminded her of home, perhaps that was why when he lips met the skin of her new friends she felt like something had become solid within her. It was far away, but it was safe.

She sighed contently and dropped both of their hands gently, pulling her own into her cloak for warmth in the same moment Rickter hid his in his pockets, and turned to follow them. She stood close to Telion, her body humming with a new excitement of their bonded friendship as they looked towards the shops.

"I'll follow wherever ye lead."
