Appearance
Eitan stands tall and fit, dark of eye and hair. If his features are too fine, one might chalk it up either to his good breeding or his bad. In his youth, his father had his ears cropped like a prize dog's so he could pass for pure human, but only a surgeon paying close attention or someone looking at him just so with Semblance would notice. His natural curls are kept slicked back with military precision, and if his complexion is darker than his family's, it comes from his mother. As such, he is careful to always wear protection when walking the deck lest he grow too much darker and not be recognizable as an Angevin at all.
Personality
The mongrel son of Admiral Angevin might be called a zealot. To earn his father's love, he has eschewed everything of his mother race except that which has proven useful to the State. He was a mistake, then a joke, and so he takes himself too seriously and is a true believer in all that Zaichaer and New Atheism represent. The military was like a father to him and the Order of Reconciliation a mother.
As an XO, he is exacting but no more exacting than he is of himself. The world is dark and full of terrors; they must all be weapons, shields, and tools of the State. He takes no joy in cruelty but might be considered cruel by some perspectives. One thing he did inherit was a Dratori temper, which he keeps in check sometimes with white-knuckled fear. Had his mother raised him, he might have been given tools; alas, she did not and he has not. If he is secretive about anything, it is how he can hear the nature spirits speak and the occasional bouts of depression that linger from his magical initiation.
History
The House of Angevin was one of the houses royal of the kingdom from whence came Zaichaer. While an Angevin hasn't been Grand Marshal in a couple of generations, they remain in the upper echelons of the military and, thus, society. Admiral Leir Angevin's eldest children were already begetting children when a peccadillo with a shielded Dratori woman led to a pregnancy. Rather than let it become a mark of shame for rivals to exploit, he took the boy in and raised him — at arm's length — in such a manner as to prove that Zaichaer's way could raise up anyone. In his pride, he also assumed that the strength of his blood would win out over a lesser creature's.
The youngest of seven siblings, Eitan grew up excelling in sports, academics, and any challenge placed before him. He had everything to prove. His father also pushed him to pursue his magical talents under the watchful eye and doctrine of the Order of Reconciliation. At thirteen, he was initiated in Negation in order to shield illicit magic-users within the dominion of the State. Unfortunately, while he easily survived the threshold sickness, he still suffers from depressive episodes, and it seemed to unlock the Dratori temper.
Since then, he has been licensed to practice Negation in service to the Military and the State. Eitan enlisted in the Zaichaer Air Defence Corps directly out of the Battle Academy, at the age of seventeen. He has been moving up the ranks ever since, and currently serves as second-in-command on the Noble Gambit, an Excelsior-class airship. This recent elevation is due in equal measure to his hard work, his state-sanctioned talents, and his father's name. Having a full-time Warden to maintain its shields allows the ship to fly faster without heavy armor, and so it strikes at objectives with speed.
With name, skill, and placement, his prospects for advancement seem golden.
