Shokaze's Return
32nd of Frost, 120 AS
The rumors spread like wildfire, the Shokaze had returned. In a rush and nearly overnight the streets of Kalzasi were transformed, filling with people opening stalls and markets in nearly every square inch of the plaza and commons. Music fills the air, the smell of food descends upon the city like a thick cloud, and the Skyguard are out in force keeping the piece. Tournaments and games of skill and luck are played in the streets, dancers and musicians appear from all corners, and magic is everywhere as everyone in Kalzasi takes the opportunity to let loose.
Plaza of Jeweled Arches
Food stands line the streets and many shops offer one-time discounts on wares for the occasion. Of note are the Inns and Taverns which sell pints of ale and select meads for 1 silver, and a number of vendors have specialty baked goods for the occasion. Small and simple fireworks and sparklers for children are free or cost only a single copper, and any child who asks will be given a carved mask prepared by the wood crafters of the city for the day's occasion.
The Commons
A brawling tournament is held in the Proving Grounds. All are welcome to attend, admissions are 2 silvers, and those who participate receive a free beer and leg of meat for every bout they win. Outside the Academy, a small group of performers has set up a miniature circus act. Acrobats spin in the air, and fire jugglers amaze as they spit flames into the crowd to roaring applause. Those who wish can join and give their own performances for tips as well.
Evening Fireworks
After the sun sets the night sky becomes awash in fireworks. Dazzling displays of pyrotechnics that create fields of flowers in the sky, spinning typhoons of light, and even shapes of dragons and wyrms sailing across the sky. Some of the taller buildings offer their rooftops for viewing the display, at a cost of 2 gold per person of course.
The Shokaze visits with his people
The rumors are true, the Shokaze has taken to the streets on this day. Not only can you catch him ridding in through the gates early on the morning of the festival, but once afternoon comes he begins making his way through the city, stopping at shops, taverns, and inns to talk, chat and mingle with the people of Kalzasi. He is flanked by his guards at all times, but do not let that deter you. You may get a chance to shake hands with the leader of the city!
