The Cistern
The Cistern is a place within the Midden that gets its name from all the outlets that interconnect with this massive room, as it is a centralized area where a vast majority of the water flows throughout the filtration system. It is here where people start to become a more prevalent threat than usual, as there can often be smugglers found hoarding their contraband through this part of the Waterways. Yet not all who wander through here find danger from thieves and cutthroats, as there are sometimes those within the downtrodden who seek an honest living, offering guidance on which route to take if the payment is sound enough.
The Cistern is a massive round room that has nearly fifty channels bleeding out into it, with a massive drain pipe allowing the excess water to flow out towards Lake Udori. Navigating the Cistern takes a bit of time since some outlets are closed off, having either bars or even chains and locks keeping them closed off from the general public. The upper access levels of the stairwell are typically more open to explore, as it's closer to the bottom of the Cistern where these exit points are more closed off.
Anyone who passes through here is typically looking for another part of the Midden, though where they're trying to get to depends on what waterway channel they need access to. Normally to reach Hahseu though, one must find the channel with "#16" written on its doorway.
Gideon
Gideon comes off as practical and sometimes brash, having survived within the Midden alone for as long as he has, but he's certainly a man who knows his way through the system. He also offers a ferry to anyone who wishes to leave the Midden, taking them as far as the Cistern's main channel will allow until they're at the shores of Lake Udori where he'll drop them off.
