The young knight had flown into air to enjoy his time off. On this particular trial he had decided to do a little bird watching. He wasn’t one of those strange people who like to stand on the ground and try to spot the little things as the minded their own business in the trees. Just for the excitement of saying he saw one. Being a creature of the air Pahoran often saw many types of birds and had on more than one occasion enjoyed flying with them. On this day there was a purpose to his work. It was to understand how eagles and similar creatures functioned. He had the other day seen some of the Ice eagles and had renewed his interest in seeing about being able to ride one. He figured that the best thing would be to actually learn what he could. He would look for the information in books, but he also felt just seeing them interact and behave would help him.
As he flew he began to notice more and more about the birds that were in the air with him. For the first time he realized that for the smaller birds, especially the ones at the bottom of the food chain they just out and out right avoided him. Ironically their wide flight patterns have him a better chance to see them as they at a distance. Though they still worked to stay close to areas they could hide in. He then turned his attention towards those higher on the food chain. They also steered clear of him, but it seemed more of just a mater of course, they also steered clear of each other. Pah found a high perch and settled down to watch. Yes the predator birds, mostly raptors, flew high and out of sight of the little birds in the trees. They also seemed to give each other space. Pah wondered if maybe they were also fairly territorial.
The white winged youth sat on his perch unaware that he was mostly hidden from anyone on the ground below. It was actually nice to just sit here at the end of the city where things were less chaotic, and where wildlife was more open both with its glory and brutality. Pah was watching a eagle dive bomb its prey when he began to hear sounds of people approaching down below. The ice blue eyes half Hytori leaned over and looked down curious to see what was going on below.
“Throw a champion into the ocean,
and he’ll swim.
Throw a champion into the pit,
and he’ll climb.
Throw him off a cliff,
and he’ll grow wings.
Throw him into a furnace,
and he’ll become gold.”
