Welcome To Kalzasi
Burton, and Connor sat in chairs toward the wall where they both looked about ready to crash, having run into Talon earlier while he was busy slaying a big beasty out in the mist-covered fields. It had been a wild reunion between the Synnekar and the Atinoran's, but the band of brothers helped out where they could and were helped brought to Kalzasi not long after. It was a relief not having to push their wagon the rest of the way to the city, but even so, having to contend with that and the battle against the Wendigo itself? Well... Patrick would've easily taken the Wendigo any day. "Well," the Dwarf croaked with a heavy exhale, "this certainly bears the seal from House Novalys on it, but it may take a few days for me to follow-up with the certification necessary for this approval."
Both Patrick and Dominik, who were the two seated in front of the desk, glanced to one another as the older shifted forward. Patrick himself stayed leaned into the leathery cushion of the seat, his chin elevated as he paid close attention to Longbeard. "What can we do to help, sir?" Longbeard's podgy eyes lifted from the papers he straightened out, the Dwarf's eyebrows raising as he took to lean back into his chair next. The other two near the window tilted their heads curiously in response, as Dominik and Patrick watched the man tent his fingers for a moment.
"There's just a formality to the process, since you've clearly been extended this invitation from a highly esteemed noble, he'll be sent documents that must be signed. And then upon their return, you lot will be certified by the prince." Connor's eyes widened as Patrick's narrowed. Prince? Hang on. He never knew Talon was a prince. "You'll be acting under the banner of House Novalys when the documents return. Which will permit your family to take on work, or purchase property, while you all are here visiting the city of Kalzasi." Longbeard's tone grew tiresome with a few waning croaks toward the end, his wrinkled eyelids lowering when he looked back down at the parchments momentarily.
"So a few days?" Patrick then inquired with a fold of his arms, while Dominik balled his hands together between his knees. "Is there a place in town you might suggest staying?"
"What my brother means," Dominik quickly weighed in with a glance to Patrick, "is that we've had a long and tedious journey. Would you happen to know where travelers go to find boarding in the meantime?" Longfellow's eyes flicked from Patrick to Dominik then, his stubby fingers brought to fold together on the desk as a pink tip sluggishly slipped between firm lips to dampen them a bit.
"You lot came from... Atinaw? Yes?" The two brothers at the desk glanced at one another, a little dumbfounded by the question, though not before Dominik quickly nodded to confirm the inquiry. "My, my, that is quite a journey. You boys might like the High Hopes Tavern, it's an easy establishment to find, situated within the Plaza of Jeweled Arches."
Dominik's face looked to brighten a bit in response to that, and one glance at Connor, and Patrick could tell he was happy to hear the word 'tavern' from where he sat. "The Plaza? Forgive us sir, but there wouldn't happen to be a map of the city would there?" Longbeard chuffed before his eyes rolled upward, a brief sigh made as he shifted to rise out of his chair, with a few small groans before a 'thump' lightly tapped against the floor. Longbeard hobbled his way toward a shelf lined with books and documents, his wooden prosthetic thumping slightly heavier now that he placed weight into each step. Moments later he found what he was looking for on the shelf, a parcel taken out as he came to return to his desk shortly afterward.
"Here," Longbeard remarked as he came around the desk toward Dominik, "That ought to help you get acquainted with the city during your stay." As Dominik accepted the map from Longbeard Patrick leaned closer toward him, glimpsing some of the contents but only able to make out shaded lines and circles.
"We appreciate your kind hospitality, sir." Dominik remarked as he proceeded to hand it over to Patrick, while the Dwarf himself returned to his seat with a few more groans made in his effort to sit.
"Hmph, Kalzasi appreciates your visiting patronage. You'll have plenty to keep you busy over the next few days I'm sure."
"Will we need to return here?" Longbeard grimaced harder than he normally does but the shake of his head told enough.
"A copy of the certificate will be sent to you when everything is ready. Now, anything else?" The two brothers in their chairs looked to one another half confused, still somewhat overwhelmed by all this procedure and paperwork more or less. Yet they had a minimal role in that part, for they were just guests waiting on the certification process. Burton and Connor didn't seem to be too caught up in the details either, so with a bit of finality settling into the air Patrick looked to Dominik with a shrugged shake of his head.
"That'll be all," Dominik concluded as he rose onto his feet to extend an arm, Longbeard leaned forward to do the same as the both of them shook hands, "thank you, Longbeard, for your assistance today."
Longbeard gave another chuff when his hand returned to the wooden surface of his desk, his droopy eyes still on Dominik as he shifted forward onto his elbows. "Twas, my pleasure..." He groaned roughly as the rest of them rose onto his feet, Patrick the last to stand as his lower back and legs ached during the rise. "Welcome to the Jewel of Karnor." There was grumpiness in his tone when he expressed the sentiment, nevertheless, the band of brothers took the welcome with warm smiles on their way out. Before too long when they left Longbeard's office, one of the assistants led the boys back into the main lobby of the bank. Once all four brothers were back out onto the steps that led up toward the building, Patrick pulled back out the map to Kalzasi as the others bundled near.
"He said to look for the Plaza of Jeweled Arches. Where do you see that on the map?"
"Oh, right there!" Connor quickly brought his finger up to the spot on the map, and pointed out the drawn banner hovering over designs drawn at the side of the map. "Suppose to look for a 'High Hopes' tavern somewhere!" He added in with a few confident nods, Patrick grinning as Burton groaned with an eye-roll in response to the quick observation.
"Okay," Patrick remarked as he held the map out for someone else to take, having seen that they would have to head in a westward direction. "Let's go see what these jeweled arches are all about, huh?" Burton was the next to get his hands on it as Connor started to grin, excitement budding within all the weariness in his expression.
"Sounds like a plan. A hot meal and a hot bath both sound like heaven."
"Yeah." Patrick agreed as they all walked down the stairs from the bank toward the street, the western plaza of the commons lined in their sight as they marched on.

Within the halls of the bank shuffled tellers and clerks, people who worked within their offices or marched along to file paperwork somewhere within the premises. It had been an impressive trek just to get here, as in just the bank, but add in the fact that the boys had arrived in Kalzasi merely twenty minutes ago? The boys were indeed quite exhausted after having hiked the rest of the way to the city, so if you could imagine the grimly unamused expression of an older Dwarf with the desk plate named "Longbeard" before him and the papers he reviewed.
