xxxHer feet made soft thumps against the ground, seemingly no louder than a patter a dog might make as the pair walked down the streets of the usually busy city. Though most people had since gone home, there were still a few stragglers that shot sideways oogles in their direction. Not that Fawn noticed, for she was much more focused on the winged man.
She smiled, wide, and nodded. "That's what I was told. A friend told me this was the perfect place to find someone. Though, I'm not sure where to start. I'm sure there's a difference between those who can use magic verus those who ken enough to teach it, but I imagine they'll also cost a fair few coins."[/b] Fawn shrugged. She was truly trying not to think about the gold aspect of it too much, but the daunting idea of her quickly thinning coin purse was hard to forget.
When Hyoga ran off her brow raised and she stopped in the middle of the street. Curious to his actions, when he returned her one raised brow turned to two as the fire began to snake up his arm as if dancing. Her eyes reflected the light back at him and glowed like fireflies in a forest as she watched in wonder the magic be performed. Unconsciously her hand reached out as if to test if the fire itself was still indeed fire- but the closer her fingers got, the warmer they felt, and a smile crept up her face while she pulled her hand back underneath the cloak. It really was magic!
"That's amazing! How does one come to ken it? To use it? Is it somethin ye can teach me?" The farmgirl was nearly bouncing on her toes, though the bouncing ceased when his spear materialized in a brilliant display of cold lights that sparkled and burned up towards the sky. She followed in his steps, cupping herself into the crook of his wing gently and sighed contently with the new flame warming their space even just a degree more.
But his question threw her off. She looked towards the fire and followed it with her eyes as it spun around him, then forward at the darkness in front of them while they made their way down the slowly emptying streets. For a moment she didn't say anything and the only sound between them was that of the flames licking the wind and their feet upon cobblestone. But finally, she parted her lips. Her eyes stayed forward, hazy now as she imaged her farm while she spoke.
"It's what reminds me that this world, this universe is breathing. When I first saw magic it was like I was meeting the earth for the first time, and I've only just begun to know her. I want to know more, and to see what I can do with magic, how far I can go. It was like I had lived my life with a blindfold on and then suddenly someone ripped it off... what about you? Why did you want to learn?" She looked up at him then, a tender smile upon her chilled pink lips.

㊋ When her smile shown on her face, Hyoga couldn't help but feel some sort of pride in his abilities as a mage. She was genuinely enthralled by his magic, her eyes lighting up like the flames that danced around his arm. He was glad he could give her something to be excited about after what she had gone through just moments ago.
She pelted him with questions, taking a moment to answer each one to the best of his ability.
"Well to use Rune magic, one must first be initiated into it, by having someone willing to inscribe the rune onto your body." he began, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt to display the runes of his magics on each shoulder.
"The initiations from Rune magic differ depending on the magic, at least that's what I gathered from mine." he explained.
Her next question made him stop for a moment, to find the right words to explain the practice of magic where she would understand.
"As far as using it, magic requires aether. That's the source of magic, and everyone has Aether, just those that become mages have the understanding of channeling that aether into their rune to perform their magic, if that makes sense." he added, scratching his head not entirely sure if that was the best way to explain it.
When she asked if he could teach her, he smiled as he placed his hand on her head.
"Well seeing as I'm sure there are far more qualified instructors in the city, I'll make you a deal. If you allow me to get a little better at my own magic, I'll gladly teach you Elementalism. Once I'm a little better at it, I will feel comfortable initiating you, if you haven't already found someone else to do it for you that is."
He knelt down with those words, extending his hand to her.
"How about we shake on it, if you feel that's a feasible deal." he offered, flashing a smile at the aspiring mage. He hoped it would kill her enthusiasm towards magic, or make her think little of him. He was hoping to make a friend out of her, someone he could come to enjoy being around, seeing as he was by himself in a city he didn't know. ㊋

xxxHer eyes wide, Fawn nodded as she listened to him speak. "I heard the inscription isn't that bad, but the following days can be worse." She said, seeing her small shed in the distance behind the dumpling shop. Part of her was sad to have arrived so soon, she half thought a mind to ignore it completely just to spend more time with the man. But then again, there were many days ahead. And she wasn't about to steal more of his time unnecessarily.
She flinched briefly at the hand on her head. Not out of fear, but surprise. A light flush covered her cheeks as she smiled at him when he knelt. Even then, he still nearly came to eye level with her. His huge wings behind him soaking in the streetlights as he extended his hand. In turn, she extended her own, a coy smirk shifting from her previous, and brow rising. "Deal!" She exclaimed, placing her second freckled hand over her first and shaking his much larger palm with both hands.
When he finally stood, she tucked herself under his wing once more and began walking forward. The shop now closing in, she sighed a bit, a bittersweet smile on her face. "Well, that's me up ahead. I thank ye for takin' me all the way home..." She walked with him all the way up to the entrance of the storage shed, pulled out a key and twisted the knob open. Then suddenly, she turned around as she put one foot into the room. Behind her the mess of her recent arrival was piled up at the end of a small cot with multiple blankets piled on top. The room smelled of her, of the farm. "Oh, if I wanted to call on ye, how would I do so?" She asked. Now that she thought about it, her home town was as simple as a short walk away if not just shouting. But Kalzasi was an expansive town. Nearly a state on it's own, and it had occurred to her then that if she were to make any friends at all she'd at least need a method of contact other than walking across the entire city.
"I'd much like to get to know ye better, a lass needs friends in a new city, after all!"

㊋ She was rather correct, as the threshold sickness after initiation could be brutal, even his was no exception to that rule.
"Yes that's called threshold sickness, and its a bitch depending one your magic. What I experienced for Elementalism was my body and bones were submerged in freezing ice."
He was absolutely glad he chose to meddle in her affairs this night, as he truly made a friend tonight. Shaking her hand he smiled as she agreed to the deal, which he was looking forward to seeing if she would follow through with it. Continuing their walk, she pointed out that her home was up ahead, and part of him was worried that the man would return for her again tonight, so he opted to stay watch.
When she asked how she could contact him in the future, it made him think. He wasn't sure what to say or to give her as he truly had no way of doing so. He did have one thing, however, but it would be a risk if he did it. Looking at her, he couldn't help but feel protective of this woman, even though he had just met her, saved her, and was ensuring her safety.
With a deep sigh, he knelt down once more and placed his hand on her forehand. Closing his eyes, he imparted a connection onto her, one where she could feel his emotions and with concentration, even images between the two of them. Granted the connection between them could always be ignored, but who could ignore such an innocent face like hers.
"Listen, what I've done is established a link between us, one that allows us to send emotional signals, to influence one another to a certain degree. I can feel what you're feeling emotionally, though I can ignore these emotions the likelihood is little to none. This bond also makes me vulnerable to your influence, so I ask that you don't abuse it."
He said standing up, his wings beginning to flap as he began to float into the air.
"If you ever need me, you can seen me an emotional signal, and I'll come flying." he said, looking around the area, looking around for the man from earlier. He was going to have to be vigilant tonight.
"If you don't mind, I think I am going to hang around here for a bit, make sure Mr. Creepy isn't coming back anytime soon." ㊋

xxxShe sucked in through her teeth, imagining the feeling of ice coating her bones and chilling the muscles in her body. But the thought of having magic after that, to be able to connect with her aether... it was the one thought that warmed her even through the frigid night air.
As he stepped down, kneeling once more to her level, she tilted her head to the side. His hand on her forehead sent a warmth, then a tingling sensation throughout her skull. It felt like someone weaving a thread through her bones and flesh but it didn't hurt- more it was like a gentle nudge that someone was there, always. When he finally pulled away she put her own hand where his had been as if checking to see if he'd left anything behind. But upon further inspection found nothing, just the lingering warmth.
"A link..." She stated it like a child repeating a word she'd never heard before. "I think I ken." She nodded and pushed her hands back into the confines of her cloak with a smile. Whatever this link was, she had no idea how special it could become, or what it even meant. The idea of abusing such a thing hadn't occurred to her nor did it stay in her mind when he mentioned it. She was just thankful for an easy mode of communication.
"Thank ye, Hyoga." She leaned in to kiss him on the cheek as she would any of her friends and stepped into the threshold of her small shed. "That's fine with me, goodnight!" She called out and waved, closing the door behind her, and began to prepare for bed.

㊋ He hoped she understood the importance of this bond, and he surely knew it was a serious choice to make, but he honestly had no other way of contacting her. He would have felt bad if she went to look for him or needed help or even worse was in danger and was unable to call him for help by any other means. This way at least if she did in fact need him, he would know, he would feel it. With a wave back, he leaped into the air and flew to perch himself atop a building near her home.
She was rather sweet, Hyo finding her personality infectious. She definitely still had much to experience as he saw her as a sheltered child just now being able to live life how they wanted and not by the constrictions of their parents. All in all, he was glad he meddled tonight, as who knows what would have happened if he hadn't.
He watched the surrounding area of the Jeweled Arches begin to wind down for the night, shops closing and many off to bed from a night of drinking and whatever other pleasures they may happen to find. Hyoga however was keeping a watchful eye over his new friend, his first bondmate. Though part of him was starting to regret not taking out that bastard from earlier. He felt that somehow this would not be the last they'd see of him, Hyo however wasn't worried. If it came down to it, he'd kill the man in a heartbeat. ㊋
