Seeing Through Zaichaerian Eyes

"Change happens one person at a time, Master Monteliyet. Do you not tire of the tension? Do you not grow weary of the constant threat of hostility between our two countries?” Talon had watched his father throughout the years. The toll of staving off war with Zaichaer and its allies versus balancing the sovereignty and independence of Kalzasi was no easy task. The Great Houses demanded action, as Shokaze, his father was obligated to respond to threats to their people’s independence. The Imperium was always a thought in the back of any Synnekar’s mind. The fact that Zaichaer aligned closely with the goals of the Imperium meant that the two city-states would remain at odds for many reasons. Talon knew that the underlying issues were tied to a stark difference in their circumstances. Zaichaer did not face the kind of threats that Kalzasi did. But that also meant they did not fully understand why Kalzasi’s ways were vital to their survival.

You think I am naive.” It was not a question. He could tell by the tone of Dreyfus voice and the manner in which he responded that the man did not believe any of this was possible.

It only takes one event to change a person’s life. It can be traumatic. It can be inspiring. It can be anything, really. People live their lives either trying their hardest keep their lives the same or to shatter that repetition and invite something new into the fold.” Talon gestured to the ordinary people walking around them on the street. There were those who were wide eyed with fascination as they stared at him. There were those who were looking in suspicion or who were hurrying along to get far away.

Zaichaer wishes for its way of life to extend from Kathiid to Antiris. Not even the Clockwork Empire managed to conquer the whole of the Northlands. Some would say that is an impossibility. Yet it is a desire all the same.” Talon shrugged his shoulders, bringing his hands to rest at the small of his back. He could feel Rickter’s agitation rising. Across their bond he reached for the man, performing the mental equivalent of entwining their hands together. He felt Aoren draw closer to their wolf’s soul, working to quell the irritation in both of them. He understood their anger. Rickter, he understood because the life of Kalzasi was the only one that the wolf knew as far as Talon knew. Aoren saw the phantom of the Imperium in Zaichaer and that put him on edge. He listened as Dreyfus posed his final question.

I bring only myself and the perspective that comes with it. That there is only one world and we must all live in it. We can either find the road to peace or destroy ourselves believing that road is impossible to find.” Just as Talon finished speaking the sound of shouting could be heard up ahead. A large group of people were headed their way. The shouting made anything they were saying hard to discern but the noted aggression and the fact that they were headed their way told Talon enough about them.

“There he is!” A younger man, most likely Talon’s age from the look of him, was leading the crowd. He was dressed in clothes that told Talon he was well off. The fact that he was pointing directly at him and had a look of either recognition or determination on his face, also informed Talon that he was a man who at least floated in informed circles. Following their leader’s cue, the crowd began marching forward. At a glance, Talon guessed that perhaps there were thirty or so people. They all looked to be common folk, undoubtedly gathered to showcase their displeasure at the arrival of a foreign Witch-Prince from a dirty city.

He was reminded of words that had been shared with him by Brenner Dornkirk the day prior during his tour of the Windworks. The fact that there were passions running deep in Zaichaer, a taste for the blood of mages. Given the prejudices of the Zaichaeri people, Talon could not say he was surprised that there would be a disgruntled mob headed his way so soon. He wondered, briefly, if the man who he had saved in the factory had spoken of his ordeal to others.

“You! Bird-Man!” Talon felt his entourage tense. He felt his bondmates ready to leap into action. He eyed the leader of the group with the same level of curiosity he would a painting that was slightly off in an otherwise well decorated room. As the man neared, he seemed to notice Dreyfus and his female companion for the first time. The frown on his face deepened but his pace did not slow.

Normally, Talon made an effort to make himself seem approachable. Normally, he went out of his way to make his stature seem less staggering compared to humans.

He made no such effort in that moment.

“Stand aside, Reconciliators.” He had brown hair and equally dark brown eyes. There was an athleticism to his build and Talon had to wonder if, like most of the upper crust of Zaichaer that he had seen so far, did this man have a military background as well? He could have been handsome if not for the open disgust and loathing evident on his face. Talon easily towered over him and likely had considerable weight on the man as well, not that he needed such things if it came to open conflict.

♅ 72nd of Glade, Year 121, A.o.S ♅
Company: Talon and Gang| Thoughts: Not this| Mood: Annoyed

♅ Dreyfus' lips curled into a smirk from beneath his hood as he heard the first sentence flow from the prince. "Hmm, must have struck a nerve it seems." he thought as he listened to Talon's response. Dreyfus was certain he truly believed the words he spoke but was more so curious as to what the Prince could actually bring to the table in order to sway the leading authority from hostilities between the two worlds, let alone peace.

Bring a finger to his lips Dreyfus pondered the man's words, taking that time to truly consider them, then brought his hands to rest behind him clasped together once more. "Well I must say I admire your resolve to find a better future for both our lands. I can't say you will find the same sentiment within the government of Zaichear, but I wish you all the best regardless. Who knows, you may end up surprising me in the long run." he commended as he went to reapply aether to his shielding.

As they continued he felt the tug of Natasha on his sleeve, her pointing ahead of them to a crowd of people. Dreyfus could tell by the size of the group this was no ordinary gathering and immediately put his hand on the handle of his gun. It seemed not everyone was in line in allowing the foreigners to walk freely around their great city. Dreyfus was curious as to what these people would do to a man like Talon, let alone his entourage at that.

"Sir isn't that.....?" she began, as Dreyfus took the lead and made a b-line for the young man. “Stand aside, Reconciliators.” Those were all the words Dreyfus needed to hear in order to act. The sound of the gun going off, accompanied by the screaming of the young man rang out into the mob, eyes wide and body tense as Dreyfus put the heel of his armored boot onto the bleeding leg wound.

"Now that I have your attention ladies and gentlemen of Zaichaer...." he began, holstering the gun back behind him. "Allow me to inform you of how this is going to go." he shouted, removing his head to reveal his face. His eyes looked about those within the mob, each face being etched into his memory.

"I'm not sure what the good Sir Cambridge has roped you into but I can assure you it will not end well for you. This is a criminal offense of the highest caliber, an attempted assault on foreign dignitaries who, might I remind you, were invited by the Grand Marshal himself to our glorious city. Now I don't think I need to remind you of what the possible outcome would be if you were to have gone through with such an act." he took a moment to allow those words to sink in.

Natasha had now come to stand beside him, taking the place of his foot and placing Sir Cambridge in bindings. He could see that the crowd, though not moving were still anxious to get at Talon and his guards, so he took it the next step. "And even if you were to get past me, do you honestly think you would be able to take down the prince, let alone get near him with his armed escort? You are mundane human beings, and you honestly believe that you can do a damn thing against them.

You may have the numbers but numbers don't mean a thing against magic. I can assure you now, our guests here are more than capable of turning you into a stain on this cobblestone street without even batting an eye, and would be well within their right to do so in self-defense. To add to that, even if you die it's not like we will rally to avenge such fools who thought it best to attack those more powerful than you. You will not be missed, you will not be martyrs, you will be nothing more than reminders of what pure idiocy is for future generations."
he added, unsheathing his longsword and pointing it at the mob.

"So, If you don't wish to meet death, either by order of execution from the state or at the hands of our guest......I SUGGEST YOU DISPERSE NOW!!!!!!!" he commanded with a glare so severe one would drop dead. He was one to want a pitched fight on the streets of the West End but he would do his duty to ensure that no one touched the prince. Natasha pulled both her pistols from their holsters in preparation in case things went south. ♅

Though Rickter had his own thoughts and opinions on the matters at hand, the conversation was derived from the differences of Talon and their Reconciliator guest. As someone who's role was only to follow the prince, the wolf had found it surprising that he had more than just 'few words' to say. The topics so far beheld a lot of solid opinions that he probably would've never declared so proudly before, leading him to realize that he really needed to keep from being so mentally involved in such topics.

It wasn't that it was bothersome, even though he technically had a job to focus on, but Rickter had therein found the challenge in having actual opinions for once. He was a bodyguard after all, and to Rickter that meant having few opinions (with fewer words), until he was no longer required to act as the guardian of his charge. Besides what Talon had to say in response to Dreyfus were all points he agreed with, and naturally, the sentiments shared with the prince were something the wolf revealed time and time again. Of course it only took one event, because of the numerous that have taken place between them, Rickter's first with Talon was the moment the Synnekar followed after him. Had he not stepped inside that bathroom to discuss with Rickter his personal feelings at the time, then neither one of them would've been as closely Bonded as they were now.

As people passed around them with a mixed reception of looks, Rickter's stern expression remained the same while he observed, so far nobody within the traffic that strolled past them stood out. There were so many different scents though, smells on those that passed by, some actually enticing enough to spark a general sense of curiosity in the wolf's head. Though, he kept his focus on making sure Talon remained safe, thankfully since most who walked toward them gave a wide berth, the wolf didn't have to worry about any sudden aggressors or crafty pickpockets either. Though he did his best to keep his agitation from being present, it was natural that the other two would sense the rises in his emotions on their own. So when Rickter felt the brush of a hand closing around his with no physical connection at all, the sternness of his features started to soften a little while his shoulders dropped several centimeters.

Aoren also spiritually drew close enough to nearly embrace the wolf, the presence enough to remind Rickter that a steady breath helped kept him in check. He nodded to the both of them, spiritually, as his eyes went to each one individually. The Kathar quick to receive his glance with a knowing gaze while Talon, who stood before the two, would naturally just feel his partners as they supported him through the Bond. Though they hardly needed to at the moment, Talon's diplomacy skills were really pulling through as he answered the final question, as it led up to Dreyfus pondering the responses he had been provided with. Then came an admittance to resolve on behalf of the prince, something the wolf finally found agreement with in the Reconciliator, which was good since the wolf nearly grew tired of his "Zaichaeri Pride" bullshit from before.

No matter what principles the city had Talon had it right, there was only one world and look how fucked up it already was. Ransera's history spanned an incredible tapestry and certainly not all of it glorious, which is why Rickter agreed that peace between nations was the important route to go. "Mate, you couldn't even begin..." The wolf quietly mused to himself in regards to Dreyfus sharing his possibility for surprise, as the guardian himself crossed his arms before something else caught his attention. He!? The moment someone declared it Rickter's head perked up a bit, his eyes fallen on an approaching mob as the gradual smile slumped into a stern frown yet again. "Fucking greeeat." He sighed through his nostrils at that thought, his hands lowered to rest at his back as he started to brace for the worst.

A mob of angry citizens came right toward them for some reason, and if Rickter recalled the details it was from when Talon went on tour the other day. Rickter had drills with Tarshenna so he never got to go, not that it didn't stop him from worrying and focusing on the prince in his spare time either. But that was then, and now, there looked to be an impressive size of people gathered behind this a man. Just one man. Immediately the "Bird-man" insult caused a low growl to reverberate within his chest cavity, his ribs rattled by the noises he softly made through his nose. His bondmates knew he was on the defensive now, ready to take measures to protect Talon as the mob continued their approach.

Rickter was on the verge of taking action just then, his hands brought together behind his back as he pointed them down, fingers intertwined to create a ball with his hands. His aether was about ready to respond when he lifted up his thumbs, until a gunshot noise made him jolt and tense immediately when he looked to Dreyfus next. The young man who led the mob fell to the ground all tensed as he reached for his injured leg, as the Reconciliator brought up a boot to press its heel right down into the bleeding wound. "What in the bloody hell is he doing?" Rickter finally muttered under his breathe, his eyebrows furrowed closely together as he listened to the man preach out to the mob. Did he really just fire a fucking gun on a civilian?!

Was he not able to restrain a crowd peacefully?! While he made bold points in regards to them and the group that came to meet the group, Dreyfus's approach stirred a great amount of disdain within the wolf. Thus as he watched the Reconciliator draw his sword and point it at the mob, Rickter could only roll his eyes and look back to his Bondmates with concern after. Those who seemed anxious and maybe apprehensive before, were now fixing glares on the imbecile and the mockery born of his intent. One look at Aoren and he was given a gentle shake of the head, but the wolf couldn't bear to risk it anymore. Not when he could see the direction this was already about to go.

"To hell with this shit!" He growled lowly once more as he resumed focus on Talon, the runes on his body finally emitting their soft glow as aether emanated from him. Through his Negation rune aether flowed off of him toward Talon, as the sliding of his thumbs over one another followed with the gesture of an opened hand. Though his fingers still remained entwined over one another to mimic a dome-like structure, the anchor to his shield formed between his palms before he released it. Within moments upon setting it loose an glimmering orb soared from his back around to Talon's back, hovering just above him as the sphere projected aether in an outward radius. A brief rush of the Northern Lights was born above Talon they streamed all the way down, hardening the air around Talon with a glossy effect as the anchor remained in place above him. Rickter's left shoulder glimmered brightly as the shield remained in place, keeping Talon safeguarded in a domed barrier as Rickter focused on the crowd before Dreyfus.

"Ain't one of them that's gonna touch you." He promised Talon even if it were an unnecessary act, because honestly, Rickter would rather handle this himself rather than let his Bondmates have to stress over it.

Talon’s wings flared, the feathers standing on end. Beside him, Aoren immediately stepped closer, his posture tense. The sound of gunfire rang in the air followed by a pained scream. In shock, Talon watched as Dreyfus stepped forward to assert a level of heavy handed dominance over the situation that left Talon confused. Even as his wings settled around him, the feathery appendages coming to rest tightly on his frame, Talon was stunned by the open display of brutality. He opened himself up to the flow of aether around them. He attuned himself to the auras of several individuals at the forefront of the mob.

“You bastard!” The man on the ground was writhing in pain, his face red with both anger and indignity. “You...you defend him over your country!”

As Dreyfus began shouting at the crowd to disperse, to convince them of the folly of their actions, Talon could see across their auras that some of his words were taking effect. But there was something else at play. It danced on the edges of Talon’s awareness, maneuvering just beyond his perception.

“He’s a witch! The damned man was there on Glade the 8th! He let that monster get away!” Talon was not able to see from where that shout came from. The voice was that of a woman but she seemed to be swallowed by the crowd. Dreyfus gave his final command, drawing his weapons and joined by his protege. Tension was building in the crowd. Talon could see it. The signs of aggression were not helping. That was when the light of Rickter’s shield sparked into being. There were several gasps from the crowd, he heard a startled yelp and a scream. The dome of light encompassed him, forming a barrier between himself and the crowd. Talon clenched his jaw but it was clear that these people were on a knife’s edge, ready to lash out.

The open display of magic, even if it was protective in nature, made several members of the crowd stumble back and scramble away in fear. Others were openly disgusted, some even had looks of horror on their faces.

“Witch!”

“Sorcerer!”

“He’s one of them!” The man on the ground was pointing at Dreyfus even as he grimaced in pain. Talon felt it, the moment the tension in the air snapped. The feathers of his wings stood up. Aoren and the other guards braced themselves for the attack. A stone flew through the air and smashed against the barrier erected by Rickter. It was followed by another, soon shouts of “witch!” and other profane language were filling the air.

Do not attack!” Talon spoke his warning to his entourage. “Back to the embassy!

He looked to Dreyfus.

Get your people under control, Reconciliator!

Well this was not what he was expecting, but it was a mob he was dealing with after all, so it came with the territory. They seemed to be taking the bait, but there was a voice that roused the flames of agitation within the crowd and soon they were fanned into an inferno. Now he was being accused of being a witch, of actually allowing that woman to escape. Did these fools not understand that there was no stopping her in the first place?

No of course not cause they had no idea what magic could do, only what horrors it can bring as they were taught. It was moments like this that made Dreyfus wish he was born somewhere else, but there was nothing he could do for it now. Now he could only defend himself and the royal entourage he was escorting. It seemed what was supposed to be a routine tour of the West End erupted into a mobbish attack with the throw of a single stone against a negation shield.

Quickly Natasha unholstered her pistols, but Dreyfus stopped her from firing. "Send a smoke flare, but dont harm them, we are to subdue them only." he ordered, sheathing his sword and holding out his right hand, forming an anchor within it. The intend he placed within the shield was to ward off projectiles, something he practiced against before, so deflecting mere rocks was easy enough for him. He watched as the mob riled itself up for an assault, hearing the flaregun fire and the smoky canister bursting into a cloud of red smoke in the air.

All that was left to do was wait for reinforcements while subduing as many agitators as possible. With both hands, his left now filled with an anchor as well, he created a rectangular shield, watching as each rock and whatever else they could find to throw at him ricochet off it and away from him with aetheric sparks from the impact.

He pressed forward, Natasha behind his shield, and Talon and his men returning safety, sparks of aether lighting his eyes. The closer moved toward the mob the more his shield was pelted by debris. He knew before he got within range of them, he would have to repair the shield. Another volley of rocks and things saw Dreyfus' shield shatter into glittering dust, only for the mage to clap his hands together once again to form the shield. He took a rock to the face, however, as he threw up another shield, blood trickly down and into his eye.

Frustrated he pressed forward, closing the gap between both him and the crowd. Now within striking distance, he dropped the shield and the moment he did, Natasha came rushing from behind him to engage the crowd. Standing there, he gestured for those brave enough to come at him, the unsuspecting agitators not knowing what they would be walking into. Dreyfus knew though, as he could see it clear as day.

The flux was something he enjoyed manipulating, and he had always wanted to see it combined with hand-to-hand combat outside of his practices and applied in real situations. He figured there was no time like the present. The number of agitators standing around near him was enough to cause for alarm, but Dreyfus felt confident in his ability to take them out. With that, he slowly began to step forward towards those wishing him bodily harm.

"Don't be shy boys, I'll gladly take you all on." he goaded, causing an angry yet rather ugly male to come charging in his direction. With a single breath, he waited for the man to come within arm's length, and once the distance between them was closed, Dreyfus gave the man a solid punch to the chest, sending a ripple of push within the flux to send the man flying back quite a ways.

Astonished faces looked on with disgust and creeping fear, though that did not stop them as several more men came at the reconciliatior. The two attacked one after another, which allowed Dreyfus some wiggle room to fight back. Dodging their blows, the wolf threw an uppercut at the one to his left side, the man jutting up into the air as Dreyfus had laced his attack by sending a lifting force of flux with it. He would send the other male across the road with a kick that had push laced on its fluxal path as well.

Both men didn't know what hit them but they soon got the picture as they collided with hard surfaces. Dreyfus was so caught up in seeing the results he never noticed one of them coming up from behind. Grabbing Dreyfus from behind by the neck he tossed the reconciliator around like a ragdoll. The pain of his body being forced to the ground with such force knocked the wind from his lungs, and he soon felt the weight of the man on top of him.

Trying to catch his breath he put his arms up to shield against the blows that were being dished out on him, thinking of the best way to get from up under the brute. He didn't know how much more he could take and in a fit of frustration, he sent a forceful ripple of push outward, throwing the man back and off of him. Regaining his footing he could see that Natasha was making quick work of those they hadn't run during the start of the skirmish.

One more agitator saw his chance to attack, now that Dreyfus was back on his feet, but the reconciliator was over this farce and brought the man gliding towards him with the effect of pull. The young man's face came right into Dreyfus' grip, and with a push within the flux, Dreyfus pressed the man into the ground knocking the air from him.

In the distance he could hear the sound of boots coming, his back finally arriving. They were greeted by many groaning and incapacitated individuals as well as the two reconciliators, though unlike Dreyfus, Natasha seemed unharmed. Leaving the clean-up to them Dreyfus quickly made his way back to the embassy. He was hoping that Talon and his people made it back alright. When he caught sight of them he smiled. It would have been bad for him if they were harmed, though he doubted one could harm the prince to begin with.

"I do hope that hasn't soured your day your majesty. I knew we had some complaints among the citizens about your presence here but I didn't think they would be so easily roused to violence knowing the consequences." when those words left his mouth he couldn't help but wonder who that voice was. He heard it but couldn't place the face with it. Whoever started stoked the flames of that incident did so excepting that outcome. Looking to Talon he wondered if the winged giant noticed that as well, or at all even.

Natasha, being the dutiful guard she was came to tend to his wounds, cleaning the blood from his eyes.

The black wolf had tensed as he observed the scene before him, his stance nearly mimicking Aoren's as his eyes watched forward heavily. An entire mob would be pressing to deal with, certainly a little taxing for sure, but nonetheless Rickter was prepared to stand his ground between the prince and his enemies. The subtle fidget of Talon's feathers indicated his discomfort, and on instinct the wolf drew closer to stand before his Bondmate.

As he experienced the brunt of Talon's shock fill him he stiffened, his jaw firmly clenched as he began to prepare his shield. The locals were heavily fixated on them all, Dreyfus and the envoy he was meant to protect. Were these Reconciliators really going to utilize brute force against their own people?! He had had enough and yet, his ears picked up on the pitch of a woman, her voice half lilted as she claimed something against the prince himself. Witch?! The runes on his skin flared to a glimmer when he crafted his anchor for Talon, Rickter's eyes narrowing impatiently on the mob as he released it to cast the shield over his companion.

This wasn't good.

The light of his dome brought shock and awe from their spectators, undoubtedly worsening their paranoia now that they saw magic firsthand. Make no mistake the wolf held no regrets in his action, for Talon was presumably in danger in this situation, and he came first so long as Rickter was around. "I better hurry and prep the next one." He reminded himself as he finally released his hands from behind his waist, the flat of his palms pressed together as he generated aether within his palms. Then came the insults as everyone who lashed out in horror, as the other guards around Talon stood ready to engage from the action.

As Rickter's eyes darted forward toward his focused area, however, the sight of a hurdling rock led him to react visually with it's trajectory. He immediately set his mind to negate the object as it soared into the surface of his shield, the dome briefly glimmer as sparks of aether rebounded from it's point of impact. "Shit!" He quickly looked back toward the crowd next as he pulled his palms away from one another, his thumbs still pressed together as he folded all other eight digits down, before raising the index and pinky of each hand to cross with one another, and the thumbs pointed away from each other. Within the spaces of his hands and fingers the aether within glowed, solidifying into an anchor as he dipped his head down to avoid another volley of rocks.

More sparks danced off the surface of his shield as Talon remained untouched, though, his companions weren't sheltered from the pelting stones that assailed them. Thus, Rickter finally went into action as he stretched out his hands, the position of his fingers still maintained as he released the anchor into the air before them. Just as he opened his hands once more he spread the aether within the anchor outward, another glimmering sheen expanding from the diamond shaped anchor that levitated before them. The wolf's aether danced like water within the air before hardening, the glossy effect just beginning to take effect before another loud bang thundered into the air. Immediately the shield he just created burst into fragments, the aetheric surface ruptured as particles of cerulean danced toward the ground.

Had Rickter not turned to his other shield in time, however, he would not have been able to prevent what most certainly would've happened to Talon. "HOLD" In just the blink of an eye, the dome shield glimmered brightly as the wolf focused, his rune of Negation snaking down his left bicep and forearm, as he looked to the very object that had stopped just mere inches away from Talon's chest. A fucking shell had managed to slip through the outer layer of his dome barrier, and thus, having cross the threshold he had only a mere instant to stop it in it's trajectory. Somebody had shot at Talon! Immediately Rickter's eyes flared with a silver hue within the blue of his eyes, the shell still locked in place in front of Talon as the wolf started to growl heavily.

These fucking bastards! Yet Talon insisted to avoid confrontation with them, rather, to return back to the embassy with the urgent demand to Dreyfus. Rickter honestly doubted the man's skills now, after what he'd already seen, but he certainly wasn't going to risk chance of these people following. And the wolf hadn't caught sight of who shot that damn shell either, even though the smell of Pyrolyth smoke lingered within the midst of the mob. People had quickly reacted in fear but the shooter had already dispersed within the crowd, as more angry men hurled another volley of stones their way. "Fuck this!" He regarded as he turned his head over beneath his arms, with barely a grunt from the several rocks that pelted his upper and lower back. As he looked to Talon and Aoren, he nodded for them to retreat first, before he pointed his index and middle finger off each hand away from him.

It was his last damn anchor, but hopefully it'd dissuade any from pursuing them. As small aetheric orbs fizzled before his finger tips, Rickter pointed them toward the lantern poles a few feet away from him, his anchors lancing out to attach to them as he planted them onto the shaft of each pole. Once the anchors attached to their bases the wolf turned around to face the crowd once more, watching as the Reconciliators did their best to handle the situation. One of them shot a smoke flare with their gun, which likely signaled for backup once she released it into the air, before they both would engage with the mob to try and dissuade them. They were on the verge of starting a bloody fucking riot...

Rickter could only shake his head, the aether within his anchors gradually tethering out in a double helix fashion toward his fingers, before he gradually brought his hands together to connect the tether he had made. Aetheric chains formed out of the line he connected, the two anchors connected to one another so that they both would rebound anyone who dared cross through. It wasn hardly applicable in a situation such as this, but again, the wolf had figured it a fitting deterrent as his companions had a slight head start. As Talon and Aoren had managed to gap Rickter several yards, the dome shield faded away from the anchor on down, the wolf keeping focus on the two anchors left behind... until they were at last a safe distance away from the angry mob.

------

When they had returned to the Embassy, Rickter checked in immediately with his Bondmates. His heart raced as he drew close to them, immediately thinking about Talon and how close... Suddenly he feared he might've slipped up, having failed to notice his rune had receded shortly before they arrived back. And though his eyes seemed tired from the expended aether, the concern for his Bondmate was all the more present in the way he looked at Talon. "Are you alright!?" He nearly demanded to know as he felt infuriated, with a lingering lust for blood against whoever the bastard was that tried killing Talon.

As he waited to listen and check on the well being of his Bondmates though, it wasn't long until the sound of footsteps were heard at the embassy doorway. His blue eyes flicked quickly back toward Dreyfus as the man walked in, somewhat battered, but with a smile on his face nonetheless. Immediately the color in his cheeks flushed, as he couldn't help but growl as he started to approach the man first. ""I do hope that hasn't soured your day your majesty. I knew we had some complaints among the citizens about your presence here but I didn't think they would be so easily roused to violence knowing the consequences."" Dreyfus quickly addressed to Talon as Rickter didn't give the Reconciliator another second, the black wolf drawing pervasively close as he threw an arm out.

With no regard for how his companion might act, Dreyfus found that he had been slugged hard on the left side of the jaw, as the wolf breathed heavily in short spurts toward the man. "Seriously!? Eikaen's fucking balls man, you never thought maybe pullin' a gun on 'em was a bad idea!? Whole bloody mob was in for it, and you had to go feed a whole gods damn mouthful o' that shit!?" He practically spat with severity in his tone, his eyes rather widened with a bloodshot look to the Reconciliator. "The next time you put my pack in danger, I won't hesitate to show you who the real fucking wolf is here." Immediately he felt Aoren and Talon reaching out to him, the knight captain being the first to pull Rickter back by the elbow.

The black wolf merely growled heavily in his lowered tone as he came to back off, finally, his eyes fixed heavily on both Reconciliators before he withdrew to calm his nerves. His head pounded to the extreme that it mimicked his own damn heartbeat, which drummed loudly in his chest as he looked to Talon protectively.
