"Yshvold, I don't remember who called me that. Just that it is my name." He stands from his box with his one remaining note and considers how to show his appreciation.
Looking at his hand and back up to Hoxzi the idea of a wave seemed to be his best option before another thought comes to mind. If she would be a friend then she should know who he is. An image of the man with the paper is used as he manipulates his facial muscles to do what he thinks is a proper smile. It takes almost a minute of him tilting his head back and forth and concentration, to Hoxzi it would look like something had gotten into his mask and he was desperately trying to get it out without taking his mask off.
A smile would not be enough to show gratitude and so he imagines what Miss Petra would say in this situation. Something polite and graceful, a verbal dance of appreciation aimed at the heart of her target. Yshvold lifts his mask just enough for Hoxzi to see pale grey skin and a misshaped, toothy, grin. Once again one side was far wider than the other and showed way too much teeth, it seemed more like a show of intimidation than an expression of joy or appreciation.
"I thank you for your lesson and your time, may we meet again soon. I must meet with Miss Petra before sundown." A dance of words turned into a forced stumble and less graceful but more robotic. He raised his hand and attempted the wave she showed him, it was only marginally better but the basic idea was there, albeit too forced. It looked like something not human was pretending to be one.

Hozxi puts one hand over her mouth to stifle what might have grown into a chuckle. The boy is trying so hard at something so easy, or perhaps merely easy to her. But his earnestness is infectious, and for once, Hozxi feels a kinship with someone else. The boy is an outcast. If Hozxi knows one thing, it is being an outcast.
"Yshvold." Hozxi tries the name in her mouth. The hard syllables are unfamiliar. "We may meet again by chance, or we may not. Kalzasi is a large city and its people spill over onto the plains and wash against the mountains."
The giant adjusts the satchel strap on her shoulder.
"I make the journey here, to the registrar, once a month for the foreseeable future until they have decided that I need not come again. For now you should return to your Miss Petra before it gets too dark."
A mother? A guardian? Who this woman is that Yshvold seems bound to is a mystery to Hozxi. Better to wait, and learn, than to press the boy and have him fold inwards. She had neither the inclination nor the time to follow the child and therefore had to treat it as a dead end.
Picking her feet up, Hozxi begins to walk away, but realizes she is forgetting something no more than twenty paces into her walk back to the waterfront. The giant spins around to look at Yshvold.
She waves back, courteously, her hand twisting with grace, before turning again and wading into the crowd. Her shawl stands a head above the average Kalzasi citizen. It would not be hard to follow her.
And yet.
Yshvold gets the feeling deep in the pit of his stomach that those brilliant topaz eyes stare at him even from the back of her head.

Your Review
What a fun little thread! I do like the way their dynamic may look in the future from this. A very pleasant read.
Just a reminder to try to stick to the 300 word minimum in your posts!
Yvshold: I've changed your 'Willpower' lore to 'Endurance' and the 'Rhetoric' to 'Psychology' as it's more the process of understanding an emotion, rather than actual speech.
