"Never flown in a bomber, must've been a rush." Vanessa mused. She had ever been an opportunistic hunter, and bombing rigs flew with far too much support to have made it a worthwhile pursuit. "You'd like her though. She's imperium too. Ain't got half as many scars as either of us, but not for lack of trying."
At the mention of the rankers down at the airdocks, Vanessa laughed raucously, "Aye, the lads there got a stick so far up their ass they spit splinters." Vanessa agreed. "Doesn't matter how good your paperwork is or who stamped it, there's always something wrong with it." In her prime Vanessa had employed some of the best counterfeiters in the city writing only the most mundane of manifests, and still that had never been enough to satisfy the authorities from bothering her.
After a moment, she continued on. "Learned it's best to come in right before the shift changes. Means they're all dead tired and wants to get the inspection over quick-like." It was far from Vanessa's only trick, but it was innocent enough that she felt it safe to share.
Then she considered Franky's offer. While Vanessa had never purchased an airship in her life, she knew the value of them incredibly well. Prizes were stripped and sold constantly in her past profession, and she doubted their prices had changed drastically in the past five years. And Franky seemed like someone she should best get to know. A greenskin that had managed to make a comfortable life for themselves was rare enough in Zaichaer, and rarer still was that he showed little signs of being pushed out.
"I'd be happy to tag along. Make sure you're getting a proper ship too, not the dregs that're barely floatin' but trussed up real nice." She knew they would have tried it, idiotic as it would have been. While Vanessa was not without fault in her opinion of non-humans, she at the very least believed they deserved to be treated fairly and with the understanding their coin spent the same as anyone else's.
Looking back to Anton, Vanessa settled back in her chair with a satisfied sigh. "The richest dead woman alive, they used to say."
