"I believe dinner is meant to be in, tonight." Without his request that their felicity remain quiet for the time being, he might have been dining at Dornkork Manor, whilst Delia went to her own ancestral home. Eitan might have joined either of them, Stefan supposed, whichever suited him best. A part of him was pleased to imagine that spending time with the Dornkirk brothers was preferable to his brother-in-law than going to his childhood home would be.
"Why don't you get comfortable for the evening and I'll tell the staff to we'll be ready for dinner forthwith?"
That said he stepped away, going first back to Delia to ask her if she would be alright eating early since her brother appeared to have starved himself through his duties, again. When she was amenable to the plan Stefan did go to the staff. Thankfully the supper plans were things that had been mostly prepared ahead of time and could be ready within half an hour.
It was a little odd, walking into a kitchen mostly staffed by Lysanrin, their multi-hued skin colors like a rainbow peeking through their livery, but he was growing used to it. They did their jobs well, better than some human servants he had known, so there was no cause for complaints.
He went to help Delia dress for dinner, because he wanted to, and because it gave him an excuse to playfully examine her. They arrived to the meal practically walking on top of each other, though technically they weren't even holding hands. From there the repast passed genially, all three of the participants eating heartily. After the main course had been taken away and before dessert arrived Stefan looked across the table at his wife but addressed Eitan,
"There is something we would rather like to tell you, brother."

Eitan was as amenable as his sister, and if they didn't have guests, they tended to be casual around the house. And so it was that Eitan was in his shirtsleeves at the table, the sleeves rolled up above his elbows. He had opted for more comfortable pants and house slippers. His finger itched under his suspender for a moment as he asked Delia to pass a dish his way. She did so without a clever quip. He looked tired to her eyes. There was strain about his, and the pomade was only keeping his curls in order by a slight margin.
"Thanks," he said, and took a sip of his whiskey. No rocks in the winter months; but rather letting the warmth seep into his bones.
"Oh?" he asked, dark eyes honing in on Stefan, then Delia, then back. There was quiet hope there, though it was guarded. Of course, he suspected a few possibilities, but if he was in the wrong, he didn't want to upset them if the news was different.
Eitan had never not been busy, but lately, it did seem as though he was burning the candle at both ends. He juggled his commission with the Air Defense Corps with his duties to the Order of Reconciliation, where he was now tasked with hunting down Florian Albrecht as well as mentoring two Aspirants, not to mention cases concerning Tobias Zorrothy. When he was home, he tried to spend time with his family, with Brenner, and he was soon to be wed himself.
He was tired and with these two, he didn't have to hide it.
"Well, I'm all ears," he said.
Delia snorted. He had only picked up that expression after the operation on his ears, which still bothered her, but for his sake more than anything else. She glanced at her husband and nodded, ceding the telling to him. It was her brother and his brother-in-law, but she was glad the two of them were close.

When Delia nodded that Stefan should be the one to make the announcement he felt suddenly shy. As though he should be informing Eitan in a much more intimate space where he might express his specific gratitude for the aid and support his new brother had given him throughout his often painful issues concerning the consummation of his marriage.
Clearing his throat he said,
"I would like to congratulate you." When Eitan perked a brow at him he continued, tone still happy, if a bit more subdued, "Before your next birthday, we are to make you an uncle."
Reaching across the table he took Delia's hand in his and gave it a squeeze. Then, as he was at the head and the siblings were to either side, on impulse, he reached out and took Eitan's hand in his other one. Delia knew that Stefan was very close to her brother now, and that the details of some of their intimacy were shared. Nothing specific by way of details, of course; nothing that would make any of them uncomfortable. But it was nice to be able to just be with Delia and Eitan and not be afraid of what he should or shouldn't say, of letting anything slip accidentally and upsetting anyone. Stefan was safe here, with the people he loved.
"We haven't told anyone else yet. I didn't want to spoil your big day, and, beyond that, " He went on quickly before Eitan had a chance to wave away the protection, "I don't think I'm ready yet. It will be done, of course. It won't be too long now before it becomes visible and our mothers at least must be told before then, least we start a feud."
It was a joke but considering Sylana and Friederike, it was also likely close to the truth. Delia had been right to suggest they go to their mothers concurrently. If they went together to one house or the other first there would be no end to the slighted feelings.

The congratulations threw him for a moment, but Stefan soon followed up with the news, and a smile crested over his face like a long awaited sunrise. The hand taking his was all that stopped him from jumping up to embrace them both, though it was clear from the galvanization of his frame that he wanted to still. Dark eyes began to swim, though he was grinning broadly now, and he reached out to invite Delia to take his other hand. She did, her amused smile softening at his threatening tears.
"Congratulations," he croaked around the frog in his throat.
"I couldn't be happier..."
His mind rushed to Brenner, of course, because he thought they ought to tell him quickly, too. From what he gathered, his friend had been a bit hurt not to have been as in the know about their nuptials coming to fruition, but then Eitan had begun to lobby for it. His mind also bounced back and forth between questions they couldn't possibly answer, such as whether it would be a boy or a girl. He nodded as Stefan continued, and he knew Delia would be able to avoid drinking heavily at the wedding reception without raising eyebrows.
"I want him to tell Brenner next, though," Delia said, her voice a touch husky as well. She was clearly well versed in keeping people happy. Eitan nodded his agreement with that, though it was something Stefan had to agree to, not him.
"Thank you for confiding in me," he said. "I will keep the secret until it isn't a secret any longer." And that was likely true, given his role in the Order of Reconciliation.
"Although..." A wicked smile lit his features. "A part of me would love to see Friederike's face if she realized I knew before she did."
