She listened to Palaemon’s explanation, nodding along. Her grandmother had told her that the elemental spirits would sometimes just stop if you were overstepping, though whether it was from a friendly intention to prevent the mage from doing more harm to themselves, or a more irritated attitude towards being overworked, Hilana hadn’t been sure of. Apparently, it could have gone either way. “That makes sense, thank you. If I’d like for them to be friendly with me, then best to be kind to them.”

When Æros scoured Tiaz’s symphony, the python was as relaxed as anything. He did start to reach towards Hilana, though after giving the Starborn Fae a slight squeeze with his muscular length, but that could have also have been because of the sensation that was being inflicted on him. But nothing seemed to change in his manner or movements. But with the serpent extending himself, Hilana leaned forward to receive him, taking the admittedly comforting weight off of her friend and letting the snake settle on her lap, though he was starting to move his way up towards his favourite perch on her shoulders. From there, dark eyes could observe from under her braid, snuggling in and getting comfortable. But Æros was a Master Mesmer, and he certainly hadn’t been mistaking what he had sensed from him due to inexperience.

Hilana had her notebook at the ready, but much to her surprise, the Grandmaster Elementalist made his own paper. And quickly. Her eyes were huge, and she was in awe. It took next to nothing for him and even less time, but when the piece of paper was offered to her, she accepted it, looking over the list of titles. Four books on Elementalism, one on Summoning. Well… that could be very helpful in her endeavours, too, really… but all in good time. The paper was tucked carefully in her notebook so that she didn’t lose it. “That was amazing,” the Vastiana remarked, clearly delighted. “Thank you, Dominus. I’ll go into the Forum tomorrow and find them,” she knew where to go for them, there were enough shops and they were surely readily available. She reached into her bag, though, and brought out two brightly wrapped, loaf-shaped bundles. “For both of you, Dominus,” she extended one to each of them. They definitely smelled of dates and honey, and inside they would find date and walnut sweetbreads. They wouldn’t accept money, but Hilana could offer baked goods instead. And seeing how much Palaemon liked plants, just like Æros… perhaps she could intersperse the foodstuffs with plants next time.

Æros was incredibly suspicious of the surreptitious serpent. It would be easy to doubt himself in this scenario, but no, unlike other things, he knew his Symphonic perception and his skill with Mesmer would not mislead him when reading anything other than the otherworldly divine or enchanted, consummately skilled mortals. Given that knowledge, Tiaz simply couldn't be any mere beast, yet it would appear that his true nature was a deliberate secret that he'll have to unravel.

When Hilana collected her companion from him, he offered little indication that ought was amiss, allowing Tiaz to slowly slither between the two of them. Once he was transferred, however, Æros really considered getting a mundane beast of his own if for no other reason than he liked the animal's weight. A snake that, at least he would hope, was nought more than what it appeared to be.

After Palæmon crafted and delivered the missive to his new student, his eyes widened a bit in surprise at her entranced reaction. To him, his casting was as innate to his existence as anything else. For most Re'hyæn elves, this was the case, too, even if they were worse mages– magic was everywhere and used to accomplish even the simplest things. It was easy to forget that this might not be the case amongst others for whom magic was not so commonplace, however.

"Oh? Things like that are really quite simple; you'll see as you improve," he responded with a soft smile.

Both he and Æros accepted her food offerings, neither party being ones to decline gifts. Both of them thanked her, and after some additional chatter and goodbyes, Hilana took her leave and Æros stepped away from the gardens to attend to the rest of his day.
