As Norani fidgeted and moved and adjusted herself and tried to find a way to settle, Chryl'kirtess was quiet. There were many that couldn't understand that sometimes the best move to make was none at all, and that was one of the hardest lessons of Earth. Even if it was the first lesson, stillness... there were always those that couldn't bring themselves to stop, to breathe, and observe. Absorb. Watch.

But through it all, Earth was patient.

There was no shame or judgment, just patience.

There was no need to lecture her further. The first part of the lesson had already been given, and now the method was up to Norani to follow through upon. There were no remonstrations or further grumbles from the myriad of earthen spirits all around her, not with all of the stress that Norani was under, but Chryl'kirtess knew something else. Stress was pressure. And pressure made diamonds. Earth crept up around her as she sobbed, not quite burying her, but cradling her. It was a way of offering comfort and reassurance

When she woke up, she would likely feel that much better. The migraine that had been building from her overuse of aether was still there, still throbbing, and would be until she was able to eat and drink and regain her strength. Her sense of smell was back, enough to detect the damp cleanliness of the earthen cavern around her. Chryl'kirtess spoke again once she had stirred, and just as their words had before she had fallen asleep. "The hardest thing you will ever do, Windwalker, is to ground yourself and learn to be. But only by doing so will you find the solidness of a foundation that you need. You have a wonderfully wild strength to you, Waterweaver, but you must learn to calm it and build upon it. Do not be dismayed. The strength is there, the ability is there, and you must simply let it grow. When you are return, Pebble, when you are ready, we will see you again."

Pebble. It might not be as grand as Windwalker or Waterweaver or Flametender, but Pebble. With Earth... that was a start.

Review

Name: Norani

XP: 15 Points, may be used for magic
Injuries/Ailments: Migraine until treated by a healer or given a few days to restore her aether from overstepping.
Loot: The ability to form Cloudstones.

Notes: That was a wonderfully creative response to a very real problem. Norani has now made the acquaintance of Chryl'kirtess, an Elemental Earth Spirit that dwells in the mountain that Drathera rests on. Perhaps they are the mountain itself, and further interaction can unearth more. I look forward to more threads following up within the cavern and Norani's efforts there.
