Seeing the moment where their hearts became connected almost wasn't as strange as he'd anticipated, as the sight of their lights interweaving to merge into a different color indicated much in turn. It was as those lights between them faded, however, that the lingering sensations of warmth and encouragement still clung to his heart like a blanket. Even now, as Talon still kept him embraced within his wings, Rickter felt all that fear gradually ease down in turn as he listened.

Not just with his ears but with his heart, for within he could feel just as much as Talon allowed him to. There had been a void... no. A chasm. Something that seemed fairly recent in truth, even if the jagged edges were weathered over time, that indicated the prince in turn held onto the pain of his own. Though beyond that pain existed more fear than what Rickter could've expected, layers and layers of fear that tied heavily towards other aspects of Talon's life. It was vast as he sorted through these feelings on his own, understanding little by little the parts of Talon he came to know.

Compared to him... the wolf's own pain seemed more trivial in turn, and the fear something far more simplistic in nature in turn. Rickter knew it stemmed from their own upbringings, and that a whole world of difference is what made up all that fear. Even so, that did not mean he felt more or less fear than Talon. If anything he shared in that fear just as Talon did with his, understanding as well that the prince had much more to undertake. All that seemed to gradually ease in turn, and for Rickter it felt like the tiny glimpses he'd been given, also eased to a point where he could barely sense them any longer. Or rather they were there for him sure, but the connection itself felt as though clarification became hazed in turn.

That didn't matter to him though. Innately after sharing these feelings with one another, his eyes already felt on the verge of brimming once again. Of course, he went about covering it quicker than before, as he brushed one of his wrist's over his eyes to wipe them clear in turn. He understood Talon on a much more fundamental now, and where he felt respect for the man before, he now possessed compassion in turn. How could one such as him stand alone against everything stacked against him? All that residual worry and not just for him, but to those who were around him instead.

It was when Talon started to speak again that he looked at the man, the somber curves around his eyes lessening as he looked at him sincerely in turn. Rickter wasn't alone anymore... he said. That much the wolf had determined himself now, because, after everything he'd just experienced, there wasn't a shadow of a doubt as to what he wanted to do. Even if uncertainty plagued every aspect of his decision, Rickter knew he had to see this Argent Hand trial to its full completion. Even if he failed, he wouldn't stray far from the prince's side anymore. Because Rickter wanted to do the same as Talon did, to help him overcome all those obstacles set before him. To show him that with even just a wolf at his back, he'd be supported in his endeavor to help those around him.

"I... I doubt that'll be the case anytime soon." The wolf lightly remarked in regards to Talon's mentioning of the doorway between them. Truthfully he still felt unusual now that the idea had been seen through, still wrapping his mind around the Bond itself in turn, as he for a moment felt the amusement in Talon's chuckle. Strange how it easily seemed to well within him, now that he started to slightly smile in return. Had Talon known he pondered on the Bond still? It was likely possible he just understood Rickter's own curiosity more than anything, and even then, the wolf realized that he was clearly overthinking things by that point.

To be assured that he would have Talon and Aoren there for him, only when he needed them, generated a wave of calmness over the wolf just then. However, when he felt that connection gradually wane his eyebrows rose, the residual warmth in his heart dampening in turn as only the calm remained in his mind. So that was how it worked then? Those feelings that diminished weren't entirely gone, just seemingly distanced or perhaps watered down in turn. That told him that the Bond itself was intuitive, and that like his companions, he too could allow his emotions to carry over to them marginally. Still, to feel those feelings return back to him in turn, Rickter could only softly groan as he passed on feelings of acceptance. Gratitude even. What this was... what this meant to him... Was beyond any amount of words he could share aloud, for this was a gift from a friend he wouldn't take for granted any time soon.

In being told to take a deep breath the wolf practically did so on prompt, his features completely softened to a state of calm as he looked sharply to the Avialae. "Best get to it then." He remarked in turn to the prince, giving Talon a pat on the shoulder in turn when he passed, leading the way beyond the door and back into the lobby of the tavern. Admittedly seeing the number of eyes on him generated small discomfort, but the wolf didn't feel the need to hide away as he normally would. Instead, his blue eyes fell upon the group as a whole, his expression still calm if not fairly reminiscent of the stoicism he usually displayed.

"My, my! All those private thoughts and feelings, privy to be shared among three incredibly handsome men." Hannah sounded teasing in regards to Aoren, who'd taken a seat with a drink in his hand, and a lingering thought prominent within his mind. Admittedly Rickter's curiosity bubbled but hardly to a point where he needed to ask, although as he was still new to the Bond and its concept, such feelings remained easy to register for his bandmates in turn.

"That's actually a good thing though," Telion remarked in turn with another glance at the open door of the restroom, "I've no doubt he'll cherish that connection greatly." When she noticed that the pair walked out, Telion in turn straightened up on her stool, moving the ukulele from her lap onto the bar behind her as well. In turn, she shifted to stand on her feet once more, her gaze filled with concern and intrigue as she smiled at Rickter in turn.

It was almost odd how convoluted everything felt before, when the wolf felt the whirlwind of emotions plaguing him moments earlier. Because now he could think with a bit more clarity than before, as though his troubled thoughts no longer held weight within them. He still felt rather bad for having to step away abruptly though, and seeing the grins Telion and Hannah had led him to timidly smile back in turn. Outright he knew he'd been upset about the surprise, mainly due to the fact it meant they'd done some digging on him behind his back, but mostly overall because of his distaste for surprises in general. He'd never really liked them at all even as a child, as he never really knew how to react when presented with a situation of that nature.

But the anger itself wasn't an important thing he held onto, because he knew the act was genuine at heart, and that specifically, Telion went out of her way to prepare for it as well. Was he happy though? At the moment he wasn't sure, even though he felt as though he should've been. It wouldn't be until he approached the bar in turn where the rest sat, that Ricter decided on what it was he felt at that exact moment. "Feel better?" Telion inquired almost with a tone of endearment, her head tilted slightly as she looked at him with her arms behind her back. The wolf looked down at her for a moment, and then to Hannah for another, before he let out a sigh and drew closer to them.

It was an unusual gesture that neither of them expected, but the wolf used his arms to shepherd Telion closer as he reached out to do the same with Hannah. Both of them turned rigid for a moment as the act clearly caught them off guard, before Telion seemed to lightly laugh and hug him and Hannah both in turn. The brunette herself was clearly taken aback entirely, and yet, after a moment of being caught in the embrace of the pair, she too finally chuckled before patting the both of them a couple of times. "I take it you and the Prince did some talking then." Hannah figured as she eased herself away from them, breaking the brief group hug the trio made before she looked up into Rickter's eyes.

Yet the wolf didn't look away. His gaze didn't dart nor avoid direct contact, just simply bore down on them as he nodded to them both in turn. "I'm sorry I had to step away earlier... I was caught off guard by your song." Telion's mouth dropped agape as though she were about to gasp, clearly worried that it might've bothered or offended the wolf in. Rickter, however, raised a finger up to prevent her from speaking. "I actually liked it... a bit." The delay of those two words created a short bout of mirth from Telion, as the bard then looked up to him with a smile on her face.

"Guess I'll have to work on it more, huh?" To that Rickter shook his head slowly, the faint yet calm smile still present when he answered in turn.

"It's good."

"So is this cake Wolfman." Hannah chimed in with a playful tone in her voice, her fingers dancing along the outer rim of the platter it rested on. Rickter glanced to the cake and then, wryly, grinned a bit as he emitted a bit of an amused groan.

"Would you be surprised to know that I've never actually tried it before?" He shared with the group in turn, his hands tucked away inside his pockets as jaws practically dropped as a response.

"Shut up!" Had been Hannah's response to the statement, her eyes as wide as Telion's as they gawked at him in turn.

"Ever?!" Was the bard's immediate reaction, to which Rickter shook his head slowly again. "Wow... So that's why you didn't eat the sweets at the palace?" This time he nodded slowly instead. "Huh..." Telion then shifted to look over the bar at Margo and Rien, her expression suddenly filled with delight as she addressed the both of them. "Say, would you mind bringing a knife by chance? I think it's time Ricky here had his first taste of a real cake."

LAs soon as they stepped out into the common room of the tavern, Talon’s eyes found that of Aoren’s. The raven-winged Avialae was half-way out of his seat, his hazel eyes focused entirely on Rickter. Talon could feel the welling of protectiveness that flowed from Aoren. He understood its root cause deeper, perhaps, than even his companion did. The Kathar had watched his brothers be cut down when he was younger. It had been part of the brutal training that all Kathar underwent as children. Aoren had been part of the group that had fought against his own blood brothers. He had felt their lives end and he had walled himself off from forming bonds with anyone ever since. That trend had continued into his adult life and had followed him until he had been on the patrol unit that ultimately saw him depart the Imperium for freedom. Once again, the Kathar had lost brothers. He had not been bonded to them, but he had wanted to be. So Aoren was viciously and fiercely protective of anyone he formed a bond with. That small, small circle now included Rickter. Talon could see the thoughts forming in his companion even before he moved to act on them.

Approach. Touch. Comfort. Protect.

Talon reached across their bond and soothed some of those urges. It made Aoren stop mid-rise. He shook his head at the dark winged Avialae. Rickter was already struggling enough as it was. The addition of the bond was only going to complicate that. It might make sorting through those complications easier, but it was not something that was innately part of the Rathari. They needed to guide him gently, slowly, and carefully so that he was not overwhelmed. Talon watched Aoren swallow before nodding and taking his seat once again. The Kathar responded to Hannah with a smirk.

I am inclined to share many things.” He winked at the woman before leaning back into his chair so that he could observe the room.

Talon accompanied Rickter until they were standing just a few feet away from the group. He did not touch the Rathari and nor did he hover. As soon as they rejoined the circle of friends, Talon went to stand beside his companion. As if to ground himself from jumping out of his seat and immediately going to inspect every inch of Rickter, Talon felt Aoren grab his hands and intertwine their fingers. The young Novalys could only chuckle.

As Rickter stood in front of Hannah and Telion, he could feel the wolf sorting through his feelings. He did not intrude upon them. But there was always the equivalent of a mental hand outstretched and ready to take hold of Rickter if he but closed the gap and asked for help. He could feel the same being extended by Aoren. He watched and waited, quirking a brow as the wolf reached out to embrace the two women tightly.

We bonded. It is a Light Bond, one he can exit of his own choosing at any time. It seemed appropriate to help him in this circumstance.” Talon spoke plainly. The Bond was not a secret among the Synnekar. It was seen as something beautiful, something that was a gift and something that many Avialae sought to deepen with those they cherished most. It was what made their people unique and it was one of the reasons why the debilitating mental influences often inflicted upon the populous of Kalzasi by creatures from the Warrens, had little effect on them. It was difficult to influence the mind of an Avialae who possessed a Bond for doing so required one be able to overcome not just one mind but two, sometimes more. The same thing extended to their bondmates. Such was the gift that Garel of Atoria gave them in order to combat the power of the Hellmaw of myth and legend.

Without warning, Talon watched as his brother Rien stepped in and wrapped an arm around Rickter’s shoulder. His brother locked Rickter’s head in an arm lock before rustling his hair.

“Should I start calling you brother-in-law, eh?!” His brother laughed, releasing Rickter and backing away with a grin. He then gave Rickter a playful punch to the shoulder. “Go easy on my brother, okay? He’s too proud to realize that sometimes he’s the one who needs help. And not just in the bedroom either.”

Wha--?” Talon blinked at his brother. Rien backed away, winking at Telion as he darted off.

“Right! Knife, got it! For cake. I repeat, it is for the cake!” Talon stood up straighter.

Rien!” His brother did not answer as he went back into the kitchen. Talon stood, his wings slightly fluffed as a blush crept across his face. “I cannot believe he just---I am not...I do not…

Talon felt Aoren reach up and brush a hand over one of his wings.

Shh, it is alright, my Companion. We will get to your lessons soon enough.” The lilt of laughter was within Aoren’s deep voice which only had Talon blushing further.

I am perfectly capable…” He whirled on his bondmate...well...bondmates now. He blinked at the gathered. “I mean...I can...what I meant to say was…

Talon huffed and just folded his arms over his chest and stood up straight, refusing to meet anyone’s eye. He would get his brother back for that comment. Oh, he would get him back. Aoren reached out and again brushed a hand over one of Talon’s wings. Admittedly, it helped. His companion offered his drink. Talon ignored it at first but then relented and grabbed it, pretending to busy himself with inspecting the mysteries of the beer, which was soon followed by a very deep drink.

"Listen."

For Rickter the turbulence of feelings he experienced seemed more defined now, even if it was just a Light Bond, the transfer of emotions between them brought a new sense of clarity. Even so, the wolf was highly unaccustomed to it all, and that made it all the more intimidating to experience these shared emotions firsthand. Yet, in sensing the desire to protect and comfort him, he wasn't entirely thrown aback by the inclinations as he normally would've been. Rather because of the bond he found himself better able to receptively acknowledge them, in turn sharing innate appreciation and humility between Talon and Aoren both. What they were both doing was beyond him, all the same, Rickter felt truly moved by their acts of compassion toward him. It was a kindness that he did not quite know, but at the same time wanted to understand, so that he in turn could uphold those same values toward others.

Intimidated as he felt by the gravity of all this, the wolf found himself far more relaxed than he anticipated as well. That sense of personal guard didn't feel as needed anymore, now that he'd started to grasp the fact his own feelings could be acknowledged. Why it still felt strange to him though was the odd part of understanding, but knowing that others could literally empathize with his own emotions made that easier. In turn, it was also how he found it a little easier to open up with Telion and Hannah in turn. Truth be told he'd figured they would be curious about him before too long, as he, in turn, hadn't quite learned anything about where they came from, or who they were before they had reached Kalzasi even.

In regards to Hannah's lighthearted prod, Aoren's remark merited a brief flicker of amusement, leading the brunette to curl a finger beneath her lip considerably as she briefly eyed him in turn. Oh, how she contemplated the thought, as the knight-captain had been someone of interest to her for a while now. In watching the pair intertwine their hands, however, before Rickter brought them in for a hug, she couldn't help but lightly grin as a result of her observation. Truth be told she recognized, and wasn't the only one, that Talon and Aoren were helping Rickter out monumentally. They didn't linger too close to him, nor assail him with insightful knowledge on the bond. Rather they allowed him to embrace it as slowly as he would, building an understanding of its fundaments on a personal level, and in turn, giving the wolf time to process all the new experiences shared in the process.

Truthfully they had given the wolf a blessing, one that he wouldn't ever dare forsake as something meager or unnecessary. What he felt now was different from before, as he didn't quite possess confidence in himself just yet, but at least a better understanding of himself and his own pain. "That's amazing!" Telion admitted to Talon with widened eyes, a thoughtful look spared at Rickter for a moment when she listened. "What's it like Ricky?" To that the wolf's eyes widened for a moment, a loose frown visibly shown as he quietly groaned with a look of contemplation in turn.

"It's like... exchanging feelings with one another. The moment I may feel something, they can feel it too and help me grasp it better." He admitted heartily with a slight nod, generating a smile from the bard before Rien came along. Quite honestly it was highly unexpected, and generated a flicker of innate panic the wolf couldn't hide even from his other companions. Still, the brotherly treatment stirred a bout of laughter from the ladies present, as the wolf himself strained his way out of the armlock he'd been held in, rewarding Rien with another low groan as he retreated only a step away. He felt no sense of danger at that moment, just pure surprise that he could not control, in realizing the nature of the bar owner's gesture though he harbored only humble feelings in turn.

It was strange to be treated so fondly by others now, to experience these moments at their fullest, when before he would've quickly turned away. But with the confusion aside he found himself starting to develop a fondness, one he could only suspect would grow over time the longer he was around all these people. Telion and Hannah... Talon and Aoren... Now Rien. Something within Rickter shifted then as he started to feel differently, the appreciation he held for them turning into a burning desire to keep all of them safe. Every last one of them. The statement that Rien made near the end after his release was not ignored, to say the least, as the admittance of Talon needing help was a sentiment that even the wolf shared as well. "Oh my!" Telion quickly remarked with a hand brought up to her mouth, a giggle echoing from her as Talon quickly seemed to blush afterward.

Even Hannah looked at the prince with eyebrows raised, surprise then became mirth that joined Telion's as the man seemed to make for a hasty retreat. Poor Talon. Even Rickter couldn't stop the low chuckles that welled within his being, sensing the shift in his Bondmate's emotions at the moment, and assessing them as carefully as he could during the process. "I'm sure your new Bondmate might have a few pointers as well." Hannah weighed in with a knowingly thoughtful look on Rickter, her smile then cast to the pair as she still often wondered about the two of them. Rather quickly that led the wolf's eyebrows to slightly furrow, as he too started to blush, seeing as how he didn't suspect to be subjected to such a device by her.

He should've known though, at least by now considered the possibility. Regardless he was lightly flustered at the remark, but more focused on the nature of Talon's own embarrassment. He could...? He was flustered and couldn't finish the sentences, leading up to a retreat of silence as he accepted the drink from his fellow Bondmate in turn. The wolf, although with reluctance, did impart feelings of knowing how he could help in turn, albeit it was a simple attempt at showing support through their innate bond. The strange factor suddenly seemed less prevalent then, as Rickter actually realized just how useful such a thing was in moments like this. With a bond even as light as his, what little information he did send and receive could be highly useful. For not only was it a way for Bondmates to support one another emotionally and spiritually, but it was effectively a means of communication for those weaved within the Bond.

That kind of gift was something beyond value, as that meant Rickter didn't have to worry about his own thoughts or feelings being compromised as well. "There he is!" Telion suddenly cheered with her arms thrown up, sharing utter appreciation for the returning hero who'd brought a knife specifically for the cake. "Our brilliant knight-in-armor with his trusty blade!"

"Albeit only useful for poking things." Rickter remarked after her still with the beginnings of a smile on his face. Rien seemed to chuckle aloud with his eyes still warily on Talon.

"Well from what I'd just heard recently you know all about poking things don't you." The barkeeper mused as Margo moved to help him with cutting the cake, distributing the plates between everyone gathered there when a slice was placed onto one. Rickter's cheeks almost flushed once more, except this time he shrugged the remark off with a groaned scoff. Telion made sure that the first one, which had been given to her, came directly into Rickter's own hands. That way she could look up at him expectantly, and wait to see his reaction when he finally tried the first bite.

"Well, go on!" She encouraged him as he looked down at the dish, its fluffy white center already generating a watery desire within the confines of his mouth. Reluctantly he took the fork utensil provided, cutting off a bite-sized piece from one of the edges, and jabbing it softly in turn so that he could raise that bite into his mouth. What assaulted his taste buds was an outrageous sweetness accompanied by the flavor of vanilla and more sweetness. Honestly, something as sugary as that went well beyond his regular cravings, but to indulge in that magnitude of sweetness did generate a sense of bewilderment within the wolf. "Well?!"

"It's good!" Rickter quickly nodded with a glance given to Telion, his lips wryly in a soft smile as he started to take another bite. "Different, but good!" He admitted just as he started to bite down, allowing the sliver of cake he ate to dissolve within his mouth. Experiencing the rich and creamy texture of the icing, he felt a tingle surging down his spine as it still took him by surprise. Never in his life had he eaten anything so sweet! And yet he actually quite liked it, an unexpected development to say the least. Telion beamed a smile to him in turn, making sure that others had gotten their share of slices as well, before allowing herself to indulge in the piece Margo provided to her.
