"Keep an eye on him for me until we reach the Windworks," Angevin said in his studied Kathalan. It warmed his heart to speak it with a Dornkirk, but he didn't let that past his professional mien. "Welcome aboard the ZADC Noble Gambit, Mister Kavafis. Private Dornkirk will make sure you are secure for the journey. Now, if you will excuse me, I must have a few words with Major Trier while cargo is offloaded. We are on a tight schedule."
The Captain Seeker nodded to them both, though Dornkirk got a bare smile.
"Thank you, sir," Aurin said affably. He couldn't read the Captain Seeker through the ward that hugged his skin. It was masterful work and Aurin reminded himself for the nth time to be careful with how he trod these boards. The Order of Reconciliation was alive and well here.
To Dornkirk, "Just find me an out of the way place to sit and I'll stay out of everyone's way. I don't know the first thing about flying an airship. And I'm sure you won't want to babysit me the whole way."
Aurin didn't plan any mischief for the ship, though he might surreptitiously scan the ship for a better idea how it was warded. He was no engineer, but he might pick up some hints of how their design was different from those of other cities with different styles of technology. His mischief on the islands would be measured as well. He would see how much he could parlay his goodwill with Stefan Dornkirk into access and information, and he would investigate the situation of the coven members who had either been coerced to join the normies or had felt the cataclysm hopeless and made a play for survival über alles.
