₪ Siorey had been following the man from the bar for a few days now, as he was certain to find out more information on whatever it was he and his friend were cooking up. This artifact seemed important enough for them to put together a team it seemed to steal it but from where?. There were many questions and he would have his answers before the day was over with. Siorey was even more sure he would have his answers as he was holding the man's wife and child hostage.
It wasn't something he would normally go out of his way to do, but drastic times called for drastic measures, and this was the best way to get the results he wanted. Alone he was not intimidating even with his magic, but with the Help of Dhasali, he would get what he wanted from the man. He looked to the woman as she was held her chair at sword point, Dhasali's blade held close to her neck. The good thing about all of this was that the hood of his robe covered his face so she wouldn't be able to place him if she were to see him again.
The tension in the room was thick enough that if Siorey wanted to serve a slice of it on a plate he could. The two were waiting for their prey to return home after a long day of work, though he wasn't sure how much work one could do as a low-end merchant. Sneaking into the home was rather easy, too easy for his taste, as all it took was for them to wait for the wife to go out and run errands and sneak in through the back of the home. It was a good thing they lived a little out of the way just in case if someone were to scream, the neighbors would be hard-pressed to hear them.
His eyes danced back at the wife, sitting nervously across from me with Dhasali's blade at her throat, looking at Siorey as held their infant in his arms. Yes, they had a healthy and beautiful baby boy, and it would be a shame if he would have to make him an orphan if things went south, though he hoped it wouldn't come to that. "You know, your father is going to commit a sin against knowledge simply for monetary gain and that's not something I can allow to happen, so hopefully, he plays nice with me." he whispered as the infant giggled and grabbed at his finger he held out for the little one
The mother was on edge, pleading to Siorey that whatever he wanted, to leave the infant out of this. "Unfortunately I can't do that, he is as much a part of this as you are my dear. You both are tools who will allow me to get the information I need from him. Though if it's any small comfort, you all will come out with your lives." Siorey explained, as his eyes turned to the door as someone was coming into the home.
"But hear me clearly when I say this. You make any attempt to thwart me and I will kill you and your baby." he quickly added, placing Strange Edge on the table for the mother to get the point."We can't mess this up Dhasali." he whispered to his companion in Mythrasi who nodded in acknowledgment.
The sound of the door to the home closing was followed by the sound of shoes shuffling along the hallway. They stopped, seeing as Dhasali and the wife were in plain view from there. After seeing that, he came running into the kitchen where everyone was and stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing Siorey with his infant child. His eyes flickered between the two men, his wife, and the infant, and then back at Siorey. "Who are you!?" he asked, a crack in his voice as the situation was starting to settle in.
Siorey watched from under the cover of his robe's hood as the man looked to his wife, who could only look and silently weep at Siorey as he held onto their baby. Cradling the adorable little bundle of joy, he lifted the hood and looked to the man before him. The guy quickly recognized Siorey and fear settled into the man. "The lives of your family rest on you, good sir." he began, allowing the infant to grasp at his finger and playing with it.
"You seem to be planning an expedition into the Warrens in order to steal some artifact. I have questions, and if you don't want any harm to come to your family, you'll speak honestly." he continued, his eyes trailing from the child to the man, then to Dhasali, and back to the bubbly baby once again.
"So tell me all you know of this artifact you and your accomplices are planning to steal." he requested, looking at the man with a smile. He wasn't too happy with Siroey using his wife and child as a bargaining chip, spitting in Siorey's face. Wiping it, Siorey nodded to Dhasali who began to twist a kitchen knife into the flesh of the wife. Her pain-filled scream made him flinch.
I don't know what you are talking about, please! he pleaded, which only served to piss Siorey off. "Dont insult my intelligence, now have a seat." Siorey hissed, picking up his sword and looking to the man, a gaze so sharp one would swear it could slice flesh. "Lets try this again shall we? What are you all planning? Be quick about it."
His words were accompanied by him gripping Strange Edge and holding the bladed weapon precariously close to the infant. The action sent the parents into a fit, Dhasali restraining both parents within their chairs. PLEASE!!!! Don't......don't hurt my son, I'll tell you the truth, just don't hurt my only child. He said hanging his head, before looking at Siorey with desperate eyes. It's a stone, a gem of sorts from some old legend. It's called the Stygian Eye.
Siorey had never heard of such a thing, and he was curious to know more. "I'm listening." he spoke, gesturing for the man to continue. Its... it's supposed to be some sort of key to something, but because it's a gem we think we can sell off to Zachier, them wanting to study and eradicate magic a shit. It's rumored that this gem unlocks a door to some otherworldly realm. So we figured it would fetch us a hefty price from Zachier or someone who is interested in that sort of shit. he admitted, his eyes filling with tears as he looked to his wife, then to Siorey and his child.
Listen, I only agreed to do this because my business isn't booming like it used to, so I needed to find some way to ensure my family could eat. Please don't harm my family because of my decision. he pleaded, Siorey looking to him then back to the baby who was looking up at him, a smile on the infant's face as he played with his own feet. The mage couldn't help but sigh, the constant pleading and begging for one's safety becoming exhausting to him.
Both parents began to plea and wine for the safety of their child and a part of him was grateful, grateful that they valued the life of their child over their own ambitions and safety, as a parent should. Looking at the little one nestled into his arms, Siorey couldn't help but feel jealous of him, a faint smile on his lips, though that too faded, along with his patience. Their noise was giving him quite the headache, and it also was stirring the infant into a cry as well.
The room was filled with fear, pleas of mercy, and begging for forgiveness. "Silence!" Siorey demanded, regaining the focus of the parents. "Now listen to me well scoundrel, you and your family were never in any true danger from me. The only thing I require of you now is the information on when your group plans on going after this artifact, as well as any important details that will aid me, understand? I implore you to choose your answer carefully as it could change my mind on whether or not I hurt you and your precious family." he warned, slowly sliding a piece of paper and something to write with his way.
Siorey watched as the man frantically got to work on the paper. Once done he slid it back over to the mage who took it and looked it over. It was all there, the size of the party, the dates picked for when the expedition was going to happen. Where they planned to go in. Smirking Siorey had all he needed to know. So it was some merchants looking to get rich by selling off something that could be studied and preserved.
"Now see was that so hard, you should be grateful I happened upon your scheme rather than someone more cutthroat. One thing I will express however is my disdain for pawning off relics for monetary gain. It's the one thing that will cause me to inflict you bodily harm. Dont ever do something like this again you understand. Now once we leave your lovely home, if I find out that you have breathed a word of what has transpired here tonight, I will find you, and I will kill your son in front of you, then your wife, then leave you mortally wounded to contemplate your choices as you bleed out."
Satisfied Siorey came to place the infant child into the arms of his mother, and collected his things. Looking to Dhasali he smiled, having gained more information, but not enough. Looking back at the couple he placed a finger over his lips, gesturing for them to keep quiet, the couple nodding in acknowledgment.
So what happens now young Kozoku? Dhasali asked, the two venturing from the home on horseback. "The expedition into the Warrens won't happen till the middle of next season, so we have time to prepare. I must learn all I can about this Stygian Eye before going in there." he explained, a look of delight from what he could only imagine being quite the find. ₪
