Glade Cotillion
At the turn of the new year every Glade, the House Lekivian hosts a week-long event that starts the introduction of both well-connected and newly wealthy youths to polite society. Children coming of age of merchant and noble houses are invited to intend the festivities with the potential of arranging matches and networking with other families through future heads of houses. It usually occurs on the 30th of Glade to the 37th, jam-packed with events that full the entirety of the days.
The event is kicked off by a ball in which all youths introduced in the current arc formally to polite society. The following days are parties hosted in several different venues, dinners and luncheons included. Some are segregated by gender, where young women and men are able to make connections and friendships. There are two lectures spaced out, in which speakers from influential families speak to the youths about their place in society and how they can better their community.
The last day sees a tourney of several different kinds -- pitting talents against each other. There are the standard tourneys (jousting, riding, etc.) that are open to any gender, but also contests of baking, sewing, dancing, and singing among other things. This day is particularly encouraged to have the presence of parents of each youth participating.
