The Upper Channels
When the Orkhan tribes first discovered Kalzasi, the vast filtration network within its underbelly became an immediate presence, due to how deep the sewer systems went before reaching the Warrens. Even to this day not every part of the sewer system has been discovered, mainly due to the dangerous presence that lurks further within its dark recesses. As time went by, however, and more and more people settled into the city, the less desirable of the population found a haven beneath the watchful eye of The Skyguard.
For the Midden is a place that no patrol would dare to explore, leaving an underground society to thrive beneath the lawless belly of the city. The Midden is a place of survival above all else, and anyone who winds up down here does so normally out of circumstance. For it is a place where no one wants to go, and to do so is to risk being ambushed from around a corner. Yet to reach the heart of the Midden one must first be able to navigate the first layer of networks, a series of tunnels that interconnect throughout the city.
It is also the most important aspect of the Midden, as it is often used to smuggle black market contraband down certain routes. The Upper Channels, as they call it, are the tunnels that interconnect the Midden to everything; be it Kalzasi, the Wildking's Forge, or even the Warrens. Certain areas are even closed off from caved-in rubble, allowing only water filtration to pass through, and leaving an incomplete map of the entire system.
However to reach the rumored Hahseu of the Midden, one must learn to navigate these tunnels firsthand to discover it. And though not every stray wanderer may wish to do you harm, the Upper Channels are not without its other small perils as well.
