The Old Bazaar
After one reaches the Cistern of the Midden and takes the tunnel passage marked "Channel #16", they will find themselves arriving within the bustling shantytown of Hahseu; mainly the busier side that tends to receive the higher amounts of traffic. The Old Bazaar garners much attention from the locals, both surfacers and the downtrodden living in the Midden, as it is mainly the commerce district of the undercity.
Pillaged scrap and run-down materials have been thrown together to set up shoddy shop fronts, as well as rickety market stalls along the main route of the sewer channel. While many sell scrap or materials that surfacers would deem 'trash' or useless, there are sometimes genuine and valuable finds worth seeking out down here. As the Old Bazaar is the heart of the Black Market within Kalzasi, therefore, many of the goods and items found here are often questionable... for a variety of reasons.
For those with the misfortunes to seek out and find themselves here, the Old Bazaar is oft the busiest part of town due to the attention it attracts. Lawlessness would seem apparent were it not for the well-armed thugs that patrol this part of Hahseu, keeping some sense of order among the shoddy stalls, and those who might dare steal from the vendors that run them. There are, of course, always questionable folk that might press their long, though, getting involved with the wrong people can be very costly.
As those who live here do so with a sense of solidarity, and making 'friends' with the wrong crowd can easily lead to mutilation, or even relocation into the deeper parts of the Midden.
