Fireworks From Below?
Glade 5th, 121st AoS
The day had been spent exploring more of the city to learn of Kalzasian culture at it's finest, Connor having been insistent on trying everything food related just to learn what new meals he could, while Dominik seemed more invested in the actual culture that the society here possessed. "You know how Talon is actually a descent of House Novalys? Turns out there are eight Great Houses here in Kalzasi, and they each play a pivotal role in governing aspects of the city." He reasoned as he fixed the lines out from the collar of his brown shirt, while Connor passed him by with his arms up to cradle his head as he walked in a beige woolen jacket. Burton followed along at the rear keeping up with them, a hefty chuckle given when he heard the second-born's conversation.
"From what I hear they're into polygamy, and the king of this place has like three or four wives." He remarked as he tucked his hands into the pocket of his dark coat, Patrick merely smiling as he dipped his hands into his own pockets, after he'd straightened the flaps of his woolen brown jacket during their hike. The day had been well spent navigating the city and, sure enough, the band of brothers had learned quite a bit about the city in their own way. Yet there was always something new to investigate, venues that demanded their exploration, and on top of that, an underlying reminder just waiting for one of them to think about.
"Yeah, but who cares about that? I mean our king and queen could marry as many people as they wanted to, no?"
"Here it's different though, " Dominik elaborated with a look over to the youngest sibling, "Because of where the city was built, Kalzasi has relied on more practical means of survivability. Magic is something we see more commonly than usual here, and the societal antics are catered to a more unified state than other places."
"Unlike that other damn place we had to pass through, never thought I'd see so much technology in one day."
"Zaichaer is different," Patrick chipped in then as the lot continued walking down another lane, headed a direction toward the High Hopes to wrap up their evening with a hearty dinner. "They don't believe in the use of magic because they fear what they can't control. Kalzasi embraces it from what I've seen, which in my opinion is pretty fucking cool." He remarked as they passed a group of water dancers, the whole group of men slowing their stroll as they observed the ladies twirling about with smooth streams coiling around them.
"Yeah, well, in my opinion the icing on the cake is the venues here." The eldest brother weighed in as he twisted to face them, still walking backward as he crossed over a sewer grate. "Ain't nothin better than spending a few hours getting high at the cabaret, while some broad's choking on-" An obnoxiously loud whistle wirred from beneath Burton as he was cut off, the noise alerted the whole band as they all looked down in pure shock. Fireworks?! From within the channels below lights came surging out to assail the eldest brother, Dominik quick to run and tackle the man while the two younger ones pulled back in pure awe.
From one grate to another lights went sizzling into the sky before they exploded high above the streets of Kalzasi, the locals all around getting stirred and riled up as they all too seemed surprised. This wasn't a normal thing here?? As the initial panic settled and people scampered on the streets, their moment of terror remained short lived as they realized something. "Hang on," Connor called out above the excitement, "that's Mesmer magic! These fireworks are just illusions!" He quickly pointed out as the lights exploded into sparkles that rained down into the streets, the citizens all murmuring to one another as a few even applauded the display.
Burton gave Dominik a wary look before nudging him off, scratching the back of his head embarrassed while the second-born cleared his throat. "Imagine if they were real though." Patrick remarked with a look from Domink to Connor, the other two siblings eyeing one another before they started to laugh at the lingering awe in Burton's face. The eldest look to them and then Dom, who also started to join in the mirth, before he rolled his head a couple times and exhaled sharply to calm himself.
"Oh, shut it, it wasn't that funny." He groaned with his hands rested at his waist, still taken aback by the event as the last of the light show faded out.
