"The World I Know"

71 Glade, 121
Dornkirk Manor

"What a day, what a tour..." Brenner declared to his manservant, Hochdorf, as the slightly older man helped him out of his formal dress jacket.

"Trouble at the Windworks?" Hochdorf inquired mildly, as he neatly folded the garment and set it aside

"Would you believe one of the bloody peons working the rafters tumbled over the railing and the Prince ensorcelled him to halt his descent?"

"Paying no mind to the security measures?" The valet inquired with an arched brow,

"We're looking into it, but they seem to have been disabled or dismantled prior." Brenner snarled slightly, "But you're missing my point- Overt witchcraft in the Windworks! After the Tragic Events of Glade the 8th?"

"Of course, Master Brenner." Hochdorf replied stoically, and helped the Air Commander out of his shirt. "It must have been terribly traumatising after what you experienced there. How were things resolved?"

"Well, I gave that puffed-up pidge a piece of my mind. You can count on that." Brenner asserted, as he unfastened his trousers and let them fall to his ankles. "To his credit, he did apologise, but it was rather backhanded. He referred to Mages as... Oh, bloody hells, what was it...?" He stepped out of the trousers as Hochdorf knelt to collect the crumpled garment. "'The Gifted!' That was it. And he referred to his wanton flaunting of the laws of our great city as 'a small display of beneficence', can you even fathom, Hochdorf?"

"I'd... really rather not, Master Brenner."

"Like I said, Hochdorf- What a day, what a tour." He regarded the manservant, who was about folding his breeches, "How is my hair?"

The valet glanced up from what he'd been doing and stepped over to his master, fussing a bit over the coif before stepping back to appraise it once more.

"Perfectly dashing, Master Brenner. Were you still planning to pop down the pub, or will you be dining with the family?"

"The pub, for certain." Brenner replied promptly, eliciting a sharp nod from the valet who moved to fetch the appropriate ensemble. "With the week I'm having, I need to unwind. Most of my crew is on leave this week, so I'm sure I can count on at least a few of them haunting The Red Dragon. It will be nice to unwind with some mates and let out some of what I've been holding in in front of the pigeon prince. If I don't let off steam soon, I'll be able to power the Searing Victory on vitriol alone..."

"Indeed, Master Brenner."

Once the Air Commander was dressed for his evening in an ensemble that centred around the palette of his bronze and black waistcoast, Brenner quit Dornkirk Manor and took a coach down to the East End.
