Business Plan

The Hobbled Gobbler is a fairly nondescript, stone building tucked into a lesser traveled back alley of Zaichaer. The front door is heavy, with a rooster on a chain carved into the front of it. The front windows are mostly metal, small panes of glass, that give off a small glow from inside. Once inside, one will find the Gobbler a long hall, spanning across the block.

Down the center of the tavern runs a long train of tables, acting as a communal eating space, with private tables set off to the sides by the walls. There are two hearths each on the longer walls, to better space out the heating and light. The tables lack adornment aside from a few candles and are made of heavy, sturdy wood. The chairs are lighter, and are not especially comfortable but only a couple of drinks typically makes one forget it.

At the end of the hall is the bar, spanning most of the width of the hall, seating up to twenty on bar stools. At one side, the counter opens up to allow staff to move back and forth between the spaces. The wall behind the bar is adorned with shelves lined with liquor, with barrels of various drinks scattered about. There's a sink built behind the bar for cleaning glasses. To the left of the bar is a set of stairs that heads up to the sleeping area.

Behind the bar is a door that leads to the large kitchen. It is a full working kitchen capable of feeding all who come in. There's a back door that goes out to the street, a set of stairs that goes down into the basement warehouse, and a set of stairs that go upstairs to Franky's personal apartment.

The Second Floor is divided into two sections. One section is reserved for customers that have rented a room. This section is divided into two hallways, each locked to keep the cheaper patrons separate from those with more money. The Cheap Hall has 12 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms to be shared by the renters. The rooms here are pretty much simply a bed. They lack windows and adornment and really are mostly used by those passing through or need a place to sleep off their drink. The Nicer Hall has 3 Common grade bedrooms, with beds, furniture, and small, private bathrooms. It also has one Luxurious grade bedroom, with a king sized bed, a sitting area, a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and many other nice amenities, including windows over looking the road. This entire section may be accessed by the stairwell in the bar area.

The other section of the Second Floor is Franky's Office and private apartment. He is the only person with access to these areas, keeping them locked regularly. This section can be accessed by the stairwell in the kitchen.

The Hobbled Gobbler is currently a single person operation, owned and operated solely by Franky. Franky works hard to learn and expand his cooking and brewing, hoping to reach more diverse tastes. He's currently looking to hire servers, bartenders, cooks, cleaning staff, and entertainment. Anyone wishing to rent a room, for the night or longer term, must speak to Franky first to get the key to their room. He expects payment up front for all transactions.

Franky keeps a healthy, legal atmosphere. He knows how the authorities feel about those who frequent his tavern, so he keeps his nose and business extra clean. He doesn't tolerate any law breaking and will turn in any who do so openly. However, the occasional bar brawl and the like is fine, so long as no weapons get brandished. Anyone who pulls a weapon is banned for life. Franky prefers a happier, jovial atmosphere, filled with music, stories, drinking games, seduction, all the best parts of the tavern life.

The Bathrooms

After the acquisition of the building adjacent to the Hobbled Gobbler on the south wall, Franky had nice bathrooms installed. There are six, non-gendered, non-racially divided bathrooms, with their doors inside the tavern. Each bathroom comes with a sink and toilet, both built from extremely strong stone and brand new plumbing installed. The bathroom closest to the kitchen has a lock on it and is reserved for staff. These six bathrooms alternate with bathrooms that face into the Performance Hall of the Gobbler. One half are located between the bar and the entrance to the Performance Hall, and the other half are located between the front door and the entrance to the Performance Hall. They share a plumbing system with the six bathrooms upstairs for the Gambling Hall, as well as the six downstairs for the Fight Pits.

The Performance Hall

Image

The Performance Hall is a large, rectangular space, with a massive stage at the east end of it in the back, set on the ground floor, directly adjacent of the tavern proper. It has a double set of doors located on the west wall that enters into the street, though it's kept locked on days where performances aren't being held. The space closest to the stage is furnished with comfortable couches and lounge chairs for the audience. The front half of the hall is furnished with tables and chairs with small lanterns on them. On the south wall, close to the front doors is a bar, that is only stocked and opened on performance nights, with a set of stairs in the corner that head both upstairs to the Gambling Hall and downstairs to the Fight Pits.

The stage has come outfitted with many of the expected bells and whistles for a performing stage, including curtains, lights, trapdoors and all the like. It's large enough to hold full theatrical performances, an orchestra, or whatever other performances need held.

The Performance Hall was opened at the end of Ash 121. It isn't yet staffed in its own right, so it's only opened to the street whenever there is a performance scheduled. Otherwise the space is kept open for regular tavern customers that might want a quieter space or more privacy. There is the understood agreement that if a customer chooses to sit in there on a non-performance night, they must serve themselves.

On performance nights, however, the hall is opened to all. The bar inside the hall is stocked up and staffed, and serving staff are brought in to cater to the hall as well. The lights are kept dim in the audience area so the focus can be on the stage. To schedule a performance of one's own, they must talk to Franky, the owner, to strike a deal. There may be a cover charge, but the majority of profits for such events come from the selling of drinks and food during it.

The Gambling Hall

On the second floor, overtop the Performance Hall, is the newly installed Gambling Hall. A large, open space, most of it is dedicated to card tables and pool tables. In the southwest corner are the stairs that lead down to the Performance Hall, and a small bar that is only stocked up on game nights that are run by the tavern. In the northwest corner there is a small bookie's counter and office for handling official wagers on events, chip exchange, and other services.

Much like the Performance Hall, the Gambling Hall isn't fully staffed on all nights. It's kept open to guests of the tavern as an overflow or private space, with the agreement that they must serve themselves. On off nights, any who wish to host their own gambling events can do so, and if they wish for service, then they can pay a charge for it. These can be scheduled with any of the managing staff based on who is on hand.

On Games Nights, the bar is stocked and staffed, with enough serving staff to work the space. Franky typically hosts the event himself, and if needed, will hire temporary staff to serve as dealers, pit bosses, whatever is needed. There is usually a three drink minimum on Games Nights.

The Fight Pits

Image

In the basement below the Performance Hall is the Fight Pits, accessible by the stairs in the southwest corner. It's a large space, with three sunken arenas for fighting within while audience members can watch from above. One half of every ring has raised seating, with couches and lounges for more comfortable seating, followed by bleacher seating, with finally standing room at the edges. Each ring has a rope ladder for competitors to enter and exit. In the back by the stairs is the bar that is staffed only on Fight Nights, and opposite that is the bookie's counter, for handling official wagers and other services.

The space is open at all times but is only stocked and staffed on Fight Nights. If a brawl breaks out in the tavern, typically the perpetrators are broken up and sent to the fight pits so people can watch and make wagers. If they choose to not do that, then they get booted from the premises. Any who wish to host their own Fight Night can do so by speaking with any member of management, however, they must put a down payment forward for damages to the arenas. If there is no damage done, the payment is returned. They are also responsible for taking care of all injuries to fighters. If they wish to have service, they can pay to have it hosted.

On official Fight Nights, the bar is stocked and staffed, with servers working the room. Fighters are picked before hand, though typically one pit will be reserved for impromptu fights. There are no weapons based fights allowed, unarmed combat only. A variety of fight types are utilized, from typical 1v1s, to 2v2s and 2v1s, handicapped matches, racial champions, etc. There is typically a 3 drink minimum for attending a fight night.
