Full Name: Seket Belmont
Race: Human & Fae'ethalan
Sex: Female
Age: 28
Height: Varies, 5'8"
Weight: Varies, Gaunt
Racial Bonus (Glamour): The ability to mold one's anatomy and physiology as well as metabolism to their desires.
Seket Belmont was once a porcelain skinned beauty, with hair as black as a raven's wing. Her eyes, dark disks of onyx held mystery and warmth, twinkling like stars in the night sky. Of course... Those were the days of yore. Now, her shapely frame has thinned from neglect, her happiness deflated. Seket's smile has vanished and her arms remain crossed and uninviting. Haughty and closed off, she is a woman who wears tragedy as a cloak, and spite as her crown. She moves slowly, more prowl than walk, and dresses simply, in muted, monochromatic colors that reflect her serious nature. Faceclaim: Segovia Amil

Seket is precise. When she sets her mind to do something, it will be done. Period. She does not tolerate unnecessary facts, and has even less patience for indecisive people. In more recent years, she has thrived when working alone, and has become increasingly introverted. Seket thrives when presented with a problem or puzzle. No stone will be left unturned when she is seeking a solution.
While her moral code could be called into question, she is a woman of personal integrity. She does not offer promises lightly, as she will never break them. Seket will push herself beyond her limit to help those within her inner circle, but does not give second chances. When betrayed by another, that person is cut off and will receive no further protections.
When at work, Seket feels most at peace. She becomes focused, direct, confident. She has been known to sacrifice her well-being and, regrettably, her common sense, when pursuing a project as it comes to posses her. To her, the ends often justify the means and she sees no point in pretending otherwise.

Seket was born to a Fae mother, and a human father, although the latter she hardly remembers, a man who left when she was barely three arcs old. She grew up rather poor, bouncing from one home to the next until her mother was able to secure a stable income as a herbalist, using her knowledge of nature to concoct remedies for the local populace. Seket often remained close to her mother's side, although at a distance where she played quietly so as not to drawn attention from the owner of the shop, a shifty man with a snake's smile. Seket's caution was not without cause, as one evening after the store had closed and the adults were binding herbs and brewing tinctures, he offered a potion to Seket, who had been complaining of a tummy ache that caused her unrest.
Seket, believing that he held her best interests at heart, drank the contents of the vial while her mother counted stock in the front room. She soon felt quite tired and the edges of her vision darkened. The man led her to a small cot in the back room and laid her down, where she remembers him touching her knee and a figure appearing beyond his shoulder, a shadow of vengeance in the doorway.
When she awoke, cradled in her mother's arms, she felt feverish and whimpered from the splitting headache she felt. Her mother smoothed her hair and kissed Seket softly, her hands bloodied, face bruised, but her daughter untouched. They never went back to the shop and lost their apartment. For years after, her mother bounced from one job to the next until Seket was thirteen.
With very little formal rearing, Seket's mother, Nerys, knew her daughter's best chance to get ahead in the world was to receive a proper education and a stable home. Swallowing her pride, her mother resorted to prostitution, using the income to rent a proper residence and hire a tutor of her own kind, to instruct the girl in reading, writing, and arithmetic. The professor gave instruction on Fae'ethalan history, culture, and language. It was this intervention and involvement that allowed Seket to understand that part of her biology, and become fluent in Valasren. Each lesson sparked more curiosity in the woman and she thirsted to know more about the science of the world.
Seket's academic education continued until she was seventeen when her mother fell ill and later died from venereal disease. The men and women of the brothel who had known Seket and her mother pooled together enough coin to help house the young girl until she was eighteen, when Seket would be accepted as an apprentice to a youthful gadgeteer and artificer with much promise and new money.
After a life of financial struggle, it seemed her luck was finally turning around. Seket worked hard and impressed him quickly. He shared his knowledge of science and mechanics and she was drawn in his sharp wit and humor. He was prestigious, well-spoken, kind. There hadn't seemed a problem in the world that could stand in their way, except... well... his wife.
For five years, Seket held on to the man's every word, falling deeper into infatuation and eventually love. Seket adored work, and him, oblivious to his home affairs. And each day, he'd feed a little more into Seket's attention, sometimes with compliments, other times with lingering contact. Having never known a man's affections, she found herself swept up entirely. It was not until one winter night, when the snow began to fall, that the two fell into temptation and began their physical relationship. With the seal of resolve broken, in the time afterward, the two could not keep away from each other. Productivity in the workshop suffered, but passions (and pleasure) ignited. Vincent became sloppier in his affair. He stayed late, sometimes overnight, and it wasn't long after when he promised Seket the world. Included in that, was a family.
He bought her an apartment, fully furnished. He had it decorated. He lavished her in gifts. As Seket grew pregnant with their first child, everything was absolutely perfect. Sometime nearing her third trimester, Seket came home to find a series of gifts, ribboned in beautiful packaging and topped with a card, handwritten and signed by Vincent. It included flowers, expensive chocolates from a shop she had always admired, and a love poem signed by Vincent himself. She swooned and happily took the gifts inside, popping one of the chocolates into her mouth and taking the flowers inside. Finding the kitchen shears, she located a vase beneath the kitchen sink, rubbing a hand over her pregnant stomach. Inside the baby kicked and Seket began to prepare the flowers for an arrangement, snipping the stems at an angle until... her mouth began to tingle. She searched for water, but within minutes, her throat began to burn. Her limbs grew numb. Seket scared and confused, stumbled towards the living room when sharp pains tore through her, as if she was being flayed. Crying out, she stumbled, landing on her knees, sucking in deep breaths, "No," she croaked. Skin paling, she grew feverish as she realized what was happening, "No... no, no, no," Pain racked her body, she clutched her stomach as her vision blurred and she shoved her fingers down her throat in desperation, retching violently, "Please, no," she cried as bile dripped from her mouth, the woman doubled over in a pain more intense than anything she had ever felt. She didn't understand what was happening, feeling as if her entire body was shutting down bit by bit.
When she awoke, Seket was alone, dehydrated, laying in a puddle of sweat, bile, blood, and tears. Red stained her dress, pooled beneath her. She screamed and cried, lamenting the loss of her child and betrayal from the man she loved. Even after she was taken to the healers, who claimed her survival was nothing short of miraculous, Seket discovered her body would likely never again bear children. She was taken into surgery to remove her stillborn child and what she claims to be the last shred of forgiveness. After a long period of healing, Seket was discharged but some wounds remained invisible. She had changed. Seket sought out Vincent, only to learn of his marriage. The betrayal grew. Whether it had been him or his vengeful wife, the couple had vanished in the middle of the night. No one had stayed for her, nor for her child.
The workshop was closed. Her apartment was taken away. Left with nothing and no one, Seket swore revenge.
