Appearance
Jane is a heavy-set young woman with bright hazel eyes and rosy skin. She wears her strawberry blonde hair short with messy bangs, but long enough to be kept in a high ponytail. A pair of large spectacles with wire frames sits on her pointed nose. Her wardrobe mainly consists of fine dresses, blouses, and skirts in muted colors that show some signs of wear, but are in otherwise good condition.
Personality
Some might say that Jane has a talent for being patient with difficult people, others might say that she is too passive. Regardless, her passions in life drive her to overcome her naturally reserved nature in order to achieve her goals. She aspires to research the the various exotic species of flora and fauna found throughout Karnor, particularly their origins and the possible connection between them and the Dreadmists. Having grown up between Zaichaer elites and Haqian farmers, Jane is fearful and suspicious of anyone non-human and is ignorant to their ways. She is mindful, however, of the power of words, and is not one to freely share her thoughts.
History
Jane, or as her mother calls her Camilla, began her life in the lap of luxury. Her father, Leland Osgrove, was a decorated Major of the Air Defense Corps, a position that earned him a great deal of wealth and prestige. Her mother, Carmen Farraway, was the sole heiress of the Farraways, a family of old money who had amassed their fortune from many of the early airship docks and what would later become the Zaichaer Central Station. Together, they lived in Carmen's family estate in the West End of Zaichaer, enjoying the priveleges afforded to them by their status.
However, after several poor investments and her father's untimely death, their wealth vanished and Jane was sent to live with her paternal grandparents in Haq while Carmen settled their debts. Farm life was very different than that of an urban socialite, but soon Jane came to enjoy it and discovered her love of plants and animals. She lived with her grandparents for 7 years before being called back to Zaichaer by her mother at the age of 16. She then continued her education, the typical lessons expected of any proper young lady of breeding. Carmen, having readopted her maiden name both for her and her daughter, had hoped to capitalize on it to rebuild their wealth, but it seemed that the controversies surrounding the Farraways and the death of Leland had made the heiress somewhat distrusted in the community.
While her mother worked to rebuild their image, Jane eventually enrolled in the Greater Institute of Zaichaer, taking classes in botany and biology. There, she met a cadet at Eastpoint academy and became involved in a whirlwind romance that tragically ended in heartbreak. This blow, along with her dwindling allowance due to her mother's extravagant spending, forced her to withdraw from classes. For a time, Jane attended outings arranged by her mother with various suitors in hopes that she could marry into money, but they were all uninterested in the bookish girl from the disgraced family.
Tired of trying to satisfy her mother's wishes and yearning to follow her dreams, Jane Farraway now looks to find a way to support herself and her studies, driven by the wonders of the natural world.
