The High Hopes was filled with the usual crowd as the bar had been completely lined, and the tables within the lobby filled with patrons who laughed and conversed over their meals. Sunset had reached the city proper now, and it brought that same noticeable chill that clung to the night air just as it normally would. At their table the plates had been cleaned off and stacked atop one another, as Telion scooted them aside from the spot before her and Hannah leaned back in her chair satisfied. Yet it wasn't until the soft tap of a mug against the table that they looked to Rickter, as the wolf himself leaned back with a satisfied sigh in turn. Not only had he just finished an exquisite meal, but now the ale he used to drink it down was now gone. After a hefty belch that he curbed the upcoming belch with a press of his fist over his lips, the reverberating echoes released with a content exhale through his nostrils as he finally relaxed once more.
"Goodness," Telion chuckled in response, "somebody was hungry tonight!"
"Mm hm." Rickter agreed with a few happy nods, as Hannah rolled her eyes toward him with a smirk of her own.
"So, how's the new rune?" The rogue then promptly inquired with a raise of an eyebrow, which led Rickter to look at her dumbfounded for a moment, before he realized which one she'd referred to. Right. That one. Another nod came after when he understood, and he looked down to his empty mug for a moment. Having gone through what he did to attain control over it, he'd been grasping the concept since the moment Talon drew it on his skin.
"Still overwhelming when I do it, but I'm slowly getting acquainted with the Aether Flux. Being able to perceive it this way is... Daunting honestly." He remarked casually as he'd reflected on the instances. Before he'd always been able to detect the presence of Aether, but now that he could actually perceive it with Aether Sight... well that changed many things.
"You get used to it over time," Hannah encouraged as she rested her chin in the palm of her left hand," in fact I only probably learned quicker through Transposition, seeing as how that was my first choice of magic."
"Are those the only runes you plan on having?" The healer inquired curiously with a tilt of her head, which, added with a lean, allowed her to rest it on Rickter's upper bicep before he looked down to her.
"Possibly," Hannah quickly responded before adjusting her form once more," then again I wouldn't mind having a few more tricks up my sleeve." She remarked with a casual grin as her hands were rested on the table, and her legs shifted so that she tucked one beneath the other in her chair. "Have you tried pushing things yet?" Telion's head perked up in curiosity then as she looked from her to Rickter, a sense of wonder in her eyes as she smiled softly and watched him answer.
"You mean actually moving them with aether?" He inquired bluntly which led the rogue to giggle, with few nods as she raised her hands toward her lips together. Rickter looked into those deep brown eyes, and contemplated on whether or not he should admit he hadn't. But honestly... was it so hard to give it a whirl? It wasn't like he needed to literally 'push' something with his mind here, he just needed to be able to cause something to move without physically touching it. So... therefore his eyes averted toward the emptied mug on the table, his stare suddenly more fixed on it as he focused on channeling his aether. He figured it didn't need much when he extended it out into the natural world, yet it seemed that such a small amount wasn't even enough to phase the flow of the Flux around him. Damn.
His eyes narrowed slightly and with a bit harder intent, he imparted more aether out toward the mug. After a couple of moments of suspenseful silence, the container started to twitch a couple of times. Telion's eyes widened as she covered her mouth in awe, excitement in her gaze as Hannah kept herself from giggling. Just a bit more aether then. He'd gauged the proper amount eventually, at least it wasn't like before where he caused an anchor to burst from aetheric overload. At last the mug began to give away to the current he channeled against it, his aether gradually scooting it across the table as Margo came sauntering their way with an empty platter on hand.
"Well look at you! I didn't know you could push things with your mind!" As she enthused over what she saw Rickter's focus unhinged, his attention quickly flicked toward her as he gave the gingerly barmaid a soft smile.
"It's... more complicated than that." He remarked even if it seemed an easy concept in his mind, then again, he wasn't sure if Margo happened to know or use magic either. From the way she reacted, however, therein lied a good indication that she probably did not have any personal runes. Still, Telion quickly beamed to the barmaid as Hannah beheld that same knowing look in her eyes, perhaps because she could so easily relate to the fact that explanation could be difficult at times.
"Well, you all will just have to teach me about it later sometime!" Margo replied with a bit of spunk in her tone, as she started to place the dishes onto her platter and carry on her work. "Do any of you need a refill?"
"Please." Rickter quickly said first before either of the two could answer, the ladies at the table grinning to one another as Margo nodded with a smile, before sweeping herself off toward another table to collect more dishware.
"How's it complicated?" Telion remarked with a raised eyebrow toward him, and the wolf merely spared her the deer in headlights look.
"Well... mages can perceive aether, but the paths and passages they flow are difficult to perceive. A Kineticist can read into the flow before exerting their aether into the Flux." He remarked from his experience in the initiation with Talon, though of course when he looked toward his beloved and saw her silly grin, he quickly realized she had only prodded him for fun. "and... you're just fucking with me, aren't you?"
"I just like to hear your enthusiasm is all." She alibied with a smile as he raised his eyebrows at her, the wolf giving her a playfully suspective look at her.
"Oh just wait Telion, when he's able to push himself off the ground and hold himself in the air, the sex is gonna be amazing." Hannah nonchalantly added in with a casual sip from her mug, causing Rickter to slightly grin in agreement as Telion raised her eyebrows toward him.
"So you can literally levitate like that?" She almost sounded unimpressed with the way she looked at them, the inquiry sparked a short burst of mirth from Hannah as Rickter stifled his own chuckle.
"I'm open to any hints on that?" He suggested to Hannah with a faint gesture of a shrug. The brown-eyed woman grinned widely to him with a lean in her chair, almost playfully raising an eyebrow as she rested her cup on the table.
"Take a good look then, Wolfman!" As Hannah released the touch of her fingers from the cup, a faint magenta glimmer faded from their tips before the container slowly rose into the air. Rather gradually it drifted up to four inches away from the surface of the table, and while Telion looked at it with a sense of marvel, Rickter's gaze narrowed to focus on the aether itself. He struggled to grasp it initially, only seeing the currents of aether flowing upward around the object to create the Lift.
Had Hannah coaxed the Flux to do that with just a touch of her aether? He lessened his gaze and felt the strain of his fixation, having felt the need to blink a couple of times before he watched Hannah lower the mug gradually. "Before you get any ideas, Ricky, practice that on a small object. I'd say try five times a day, but let's be honest here, men are only good for a one-time thing." Telion finally burst out laughing as Rickter's face drooped into an annoyed expression. "But seriously, start with objects first and then work your way up. When you can ride that current, that's when the real fun begins." The rogue shot a raunchy wink toward Telion as the wolf couldn't help but grin, watching the two ladies practically reminisce with one another.
